Beretta Tomcat Grip Removal Without Removing Thumb Safety
You don't need to remove the thumb safety, and risk losing the detent or spring, to remove the left side grip panel. Before leaving a comment asking about the right side grip panel, note that there's nothing tricky about removing it. Simply remove the two screws and lift the panel off.

I wish I would’ve saw this video an hour ago I almost had a heart attack trying to put the small spring and a little detent and I’m kicking myself right now before getting into the ambulance because I almost had a massive heart attack. Great info your the man thank you For sharing
If you’re still hesitant to try this, get a large, clear plastic bag (like from the dry cleaners) and try with the pistol and both hands inside the bag. This will prevent the tiny spring from flying.

This works great to keep them little springs from flying away... use a big freezer bag which works perfectly...its saved me several times on other 'fishing rods' I have...lol
Fantastic video! I just completed the change out and it was so easy! Thank you so much!
Thaaaaanks a lotttttt!!!! Just finished custom wood grips installation. No problems at all. Takes me about 15 min. for both of them.
If the safety does pop out it is a bitch to put it back together. I had loads of fun with it..
Thank you for this VDO which made it super fast and easy to replace the wood grips, I finished it with in 5 minutes. Very happy !
Just finished putting new wood grips on my Tomcat. Thank you for the video, it went smooth as possible.
Nice . . . YOU ~ ROCK ! !
An excellent video ! Wish I had seen this before I learned way more about the safety detent than I ever wanted to know. Thank you.

@Carmine Falcone Your advice worked well on both my Bobcats,. due to age and arthritis ,I now carry the .32s. The wood grips were a nice addition to my .22 Bobcat. Due to the safety length the left grip panel will not interchange between the .22 and .32. I found the palmswell on the wooden grips acted like a "monkey trap" once I griped the pistol ,I could not pull it from my pocket. Thanks again.
The grips on my 3032 were broken and after seeing this video, I just bought wood grips & the change out was really easy. Thanks.
Very good video. A long time ago I removed the safety switch to remove the grips. It was no fun looking for the spring that flew out.
And just like that, my mind is blown. Brilliant and simple. Thank you. Now to order some factory wood grips.🤣
Thank you, I heard that the safety was a pain in the ass, you saved me from a lot of trouble
Simply awesome! Thank you, Sir! 👍👍

Thanks!!!!
Nice job
Excellent👍
Thanks for posting this! I bought the same Beretta walnut grips but I'm hesitant to install them because they don't have the front lip that the factory plastic grips have. Do you notice any play in the walnut grips?

Haven't felt any play with the wood grips at all.
is there any way to remove the safety on the tomcat ??? because i shoot left handed and every time i shoot it i hit the safety with the top of my hand after only a few shots and then i haft to push the safety down so it will fire again
Great video thanks. I ordered the wood grips. Does the original screws fit with the wood grips?
Nice!
I never knew this was an issue
I never had all this trouble
I have an early model it has short safety.
The best
OK, whats the part number for the safety spring... I didn't watch this very good video, before I put the new walnut grips on... Gow'd I'm stupid
Saw your TKX video awesome. Did you have to modify the transmission tunnel. Want to do what you did. Thanks

No modification to the tunnel at all. TKX was close at the rear of the shifter opening but fit.

@@funflyer9958 Only asking because I don't have to go thru the same procedure
Just did this and my Mag release stopped working. Any ideas?
Could you use a Dremel or file and remove that ledge from the plastic grip, so that all that wouldn’t be necessary? Two screws on the grip panel provide more than enough security/rigidity. Seems like over-complication of the design by Beretta.
Well I screwed up safety popped out somehow and don't think that should have happened.... Whoops
Didn’t work for me... the safety came apart while I tried to put on the new grip. Luckily I didn’t lose the safety plunger or spring.

After reading your comment, I checked mine to see how that could happen. Disscovered it can only happen with the hammer fully cocked.
Do not take the grips off. You will be sorry
Wrong method
I owned a Tomcat for one year and then sold it for half of what I paid for it. Worst Gun I’ve ever owned but it looked good.
