    Really nice review, but anyone have any knowledge on how they compare to the SONY WH-1000XM4s, I am in the market for a pair, but I'm looking at alternatives as well, this seems to be a good contender, but I'm still not sure, leaning more towards to B&O H9 3rd Generation.

    Fairly late comment but wanted to add a note on the H9i Proximity Sensors (PS). DRHME’s advice on lifting both cups to activate PS absolutely did the trick (I had no problems with PS since day one thanks to their advice) until I connected to the B&O app. Moment I did that, the PS function became problematic: working only at times and sometimes not at all. After a few trial and errors, I finally realised the headphones work so much better when NOT connected to the app. So, these days I only access the app for equaliser settings after which I promptly disconnect, and a few other things that needs fiddling with ie ANC, PS n etc. Use the app sparingly and you’ll be ok.

    I have my own pair, the sound of these headphones are absolutely incomperable to anything ive tried. The noise cancelling is good, but you cant use it while walking, because these headphones cant handle the bumps of you're feet (sounds strange I know but trust me when you use them youll figure out what I mean). Overall I would never trade my pair for anything else, the sound is just extraodinary it's like you're in a different world....

    From what I've read the new Beoplay H9 3rd Gen fixed the comfort, ANC, and battery life (no more removable battery) complaints of the H9i. I did also hear the bass is deeper and more polarizing on the new H9 3rd Gen. The question I want answered is if the H9 3rd Gen enough of an improvement to choose over the H9i?

    I've had the B&O H9i's since April 2018 and for the first week i was making the mistake of switching them on when on my head, which as you so rightly mention impacts the performance of the proximity sensors. However, even after 2 years of countless hours of commutes, office days and flights they are still fantastic headphones and hold up really well. If you take time to break them and stretch out headband a little, they become much more comfortable. The H9I's were my first pair of ANC headphones and now sit within my collection, alongside my Bose NC 700 and Bowers & Wilkins PX7's which are also great performers. It's hard to go wrong with the H9i if you can get them at a good price.

    How do you think they compare to the Bose 700s and the Sony XM4s? Because I'm in the market for a pair, but not sure what to get, considering the B&O H9 3rd Generation instead of the H9i.

  • @jamestaylor833

    @jamestaylor833

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@akshpatel3116 it’s a tough call as there is no perfect set and they all have strengths and weaknesses but personally if I was going to choose I’d go with either the Sony XM4 or the Bose NC 700’s as both will offer better ANC and improved long term comfort over the H9i or H9 3rd Gen. The Bose have flatter sound signature, can also be adjusting using the app EQ and have a comfortable and light headband and superior microphones to all but the AirPods Max, whereas the H9’s are good, they do however cause some discomfort after a few hours of wearing, but it’s minor. I have listened to the Sony XM4 in store and they sound nice and rich, however, I’m just not a fan of the build quality especially the material on top of headband, it looks and feels cheap and like it can tear and damage easily. So basically I’d say it like this, if you can get the Sony or Bose under €300 then either will be a great choice. However if the H9 or H9i can be had for under €200 then it’s worth considering. The H9 has better battery life over the H9i but the H9i has a removable battery whereas the H9 does not. Bose NC 700 have had some connection Issues when connected to multiple devices, but the recent November firmware seems to have fixed this. All 3 have decent companion apps, but the Sony app offers more control and options, with Bose coming in second. .I would also check out the Bowers PX7 as these sound very nice too maybe again not as comfortable as the Sony or Bose, but overall I think the Bose are my go to for most situations. Hope this helps.

    @@jamestaylor833 Very informative, thank you very much, I am more of a bass heavy listener, that is the reason I am staying slightly away from the Bose 700s, and comfort is a big deal for me, because I wear them for really long periods of time, so the Sony is looking really good in my eyes, I have considered the PX7, but there are not many reviews of the comparison between the two XM4s and PX7s, with pricing, I'm getting the the 700s for €280+- , from Amazon Germany whereas, the XM4s are €330+-, and the PX7s are around €250, whereas the B&O H9 3rd Generation are at the €350 mark, any suggestions with that information?

    @@akshpatel3116 I think based on what you want then for then the Sony’s are what you want! The PX7 is worth a listen if you get a chance, but I think the XM4’s will please you more.

    So, none of the consumer ANC headphones give on par audio experience like a wired audiophile headphone does, B&O, in that sense, is much like the Corvette which tries to be a Ferrari. Sony m3 and m4 are consumer ANC headphone, which has beefy base, made out of plastic and true to what they are. if this B&O doesn't do noise cancelling properly, can't hold charge, don't know if over-the-ear or on-the-ear then what's the use of brushed aluminium and cowhide leather?
