2 corrections for repairing a Samsung Galaxy phone: 1. it's actually easier to work with a broken back cover since you dont have to worry about it getting broken and you have to spend more money and replace it. 2. for testing touch and all sensors and stuff, open the dialer and dial *#0*#. it's much more thorough than merely using the phone

It's actually HARDER to remove a back panel if it is broken. It is flimsy and hard to get under and not to mention it is a hazard for your fingers. Those things combine to make it very difficult to remove when broken. I find it much easier to remove back panels that are not broken.

It'll get there!!!
Been looking forward to this all week!
Phone refurbisher here. Several things: 1. The back glass is not that hard to remove. Get gloves that are puncture resistant so you don't get glass in your hands. Put tape on the back glass if it's broken like in the video. Get a heat gun you can adjust temperature on and set it to 140F/60C and put it on there for about 30-45 seconds. Get a guitar pick at least .5mm and sand down the edges to fit under the glass. Attack it by the volume keys as the weakest part of the adhesive seems to be located there, then rotate the pick clockwise while moving it around the phone clockwise to loosen the battery cover adhesive. If you do it right and the adhesive cooperates, you'll be able to reuse the back glass provided it's undamaged. 2. You don't have to be a wimp about the fingerprint sensor. Simply pull the cover up from the bottom and the cable should disconnect. If you're afraid of ripping it, go ahead and use a guitar pick or spudger to pop the connector off, but the ribbon is stronger than what it's given credit for. Also, you don't need to heat up the glue on the fingerprint sensor to remove it. Get a guitar pick between the glass and sensor and then lift up. Should come loose fairly easily. 3. The NFC coil doesn't have to be screwed in to test the phone. All that matters is that there is sufficient pressure on the part of the antenna where the spring contacts for the coil touch it, and this area is indicated rather handily by a small ribbon cable that goes from the round coil under the top antenna. Hold your finger on that, and the charger should work. 4. The UI connector is easy to do when you don't lay the main pcb into the housing before connecting it. Simply lift up the UI connector and line the connector on the main pcb with it and press to connect. Once you've got it connected, lay the pcb down and move the cables and flexes out of the way so it sits correctly. 5. Should've been said first but remove the sim/sd card tray before removing the main pcb. you can damage the slot on the board and they are a bitch to replace. So much that you can actually compromise other functions of the phone attempting to do this, such as bluetooth connectivity and wifi connectivity, so make sure to do that before anything else. 6. Be damn careful when taking the battery out. Not only should you use heat, you should also put some isopropyl alcohol along the edges with an eye dropper or syringe (WITH A PLASTIC TIP) is you have one. The alcohol will weaken the bond and make removing it easier. 7. Put the RF antenna cables in the channel BEFORE seating the main pcb. you'll notice during the taking apart that they come up through a little cutout in the board itself, and if you don't put them back correctly, you'll likely damage them when attempting to reinstall the loudspeaker antenna. 8. If you want to make sure that your phone will function properly, here are two numbers you can put into the dialer to bring up testing modes. *#0283# - This is for the audio loopback test. Use this to check the mics from the UI board (the RCV test), the main board (the SPK test), and audio from a connected headset that has a microphone in it (the E/P test, which is only available to do if a headset with mic is connected) *#0*# - This will test every major function of the phone besides the mics. You can test both speakers for distortion, check the vibrator to make sure it's functioning correctly, check the cameras for correct auto focus and any blurriness and spots on the lenses, whether the touch works or if there's a dead region, and check the sensors that control various input, such as gyroscopes, light and magnetic sensors, and the fingerprint scanner. I would definitely do both of these after replacing a functional part like a front assembly.

I have been waiting for this since you told us about it in your last video!
I repair these daily and a couple things. Put the finger print sensor in the slot in the casing and plug it in. When you apply the back glass you can align it up easily. The dock connector is so much easier if you connect it before it place the board. This also makes it easier to align the coaxial into the small opening on the board. When we apply the back glass we apply roughly 10kg of downwards pressure. This is enough to make it watertight again.
