For a truly authentic Sigma, drape the roof lining over your head. Place a few strategic drawing pins to enable you to drive it. Try to get a Southern Cross going with the pins as well.

You're doing what 17 y/o me DID do. A GN sedan with my late Grandad. We turned that 80's box from a rust bucket sitting in a paddock, to the Skidma, a slightly-less rusty box. But I loved it and I learnt so much working on it. I'm drooling for more on this one, Benny. Cheers bloke.

Blights racing used Sigma's to great success in speedway over here in WA .I owned one for several years was our daily was actually a good little car
2.6L! That's a big block conversion!
Good thing about today is we can make this kind of cars better without a massive budget. Please keep posting all the work, changes and mods to keep helping guys that need some help and ideas to work on these older cars. Nice work and good luck, mate!

Benny - you know there was a "Peter Wherrett" version of the Sigma? He complained while testing it enough that he was given the job of improving it, so the special model was a GLX with extras like 15-inch alloy wheels, Recaro seats, Momo steering wheel, extractors, lowered springs and Bilstein shock absorbers. But being a "Peter Wherrett Edition", I'm sure it was still always in the wrong gear. :-D

And that's a fact. Quadlights are just such a good look.
I had an 87 gsr on my p’s back in the day higher compression, 350 Holley, full exhaust and a welded scorpion diff even had a custom sunroof, thing was a beast to drive, can’t wait to see this project unfold, love your work 👍🏽
Yes Benny! So excited for this build!
Awesome Ben! I’ve got a 200B I’m doing a similar thing with! Converted it to manual, engine is a bit tired, going to rebuild it etc, also have a disc brake diff from a bluebird trx that’s going into it!
Love all of the ideas for the car man! Can't wait to see it develop
New episodes of BCW, skid factory and deboss garage on the same day! Woohoo!
my first car was a 74 chrysler lancer coupe with the jelly bean mags and the bonnet vents. ahhh good memories. keep up the awesome work mate 😎
Excellent project! Twin webers! When I first got my P's and was running around in a gemini panel Van a guy up the street from me had a beige sigma, with fat tyres on the factory mags and it was lowered. Even though I wasn't into Mitsubishi I was jealous of all the extra cubes in that 2.6L. love that you're doing something different!
Awesome. I've been waiting for a carby build. This will be great to watch.
YES!!!! So great dude, my first car (literally the first car I was ever in.. mums car) 79' Sigma SE in Champaign gold with those quality 80's wheels that look a bit like Delorean wheels.. can't wait to watch this build!!!
Benny, your car choices are mint. And as soon as you said it's going to have an Astron 2.6 I was happy, I absolutely love that little powerhouse motor but I never see it getting any attention. Heaps keen to see you work on one.
Sounds like a great build! Looking forward to this series. Go benne
Man, that vinyl back seat would be hotter than the surface of the sun after being parked at the beach all day. The middle seatbelt would be like a branding iron! Good times!

When I was a kid my dad owned a Peugeot 504 with vinyl seats and we lived in the northernmost house in Australia. Must have been about 90 degrees getting in there on a sunny day. There was a trick you could do up there where just holding a black bin bag upside down when it wasn't windy would have it lift off and fly away in a few minutes like a hot air balloon.
My dad rented one almost exactly like this in 1979 on a holiday in Perth, same colour too.
Nice find Benny! Do a full engine assessment. Compression check, oil pressure, plugs look over. Great series in the making here!
Epic bro, happy to see it evolve as you see fit mate.
Looking forward to seeing this one built, especially if you're doing more hands-on work. Always great to watch that.
Looks badass Benny. Can't wait to see what it becomes.
So keen to see the progress of this beast!
18 year old me could only afford 200B SX rims. This is going to be a nostalgia trip.
This build cements my luv for this channel first car I remember ever being in is a sigma keep it to what you have planned except maybe to also have a period correct rear spoiler I think I've seen on these
Lol. Picked it under the cover. An uncle had a cream “Chrysler” sigma when I was a kid. Looks like a bit of a time warp.
Great video. Looking forward to seeing more of it!
Almost 100k subs bro!!!!
I love this, old Sigmas are really cool, a cammed 2.6 was unexpected, looking forward to seeing this project 👍
So good, Benny! Can't wait to see multi carb tuning black magic
Loving this build . My first car was a 1978 Chrysler sigma scorpion 2 litre with a Webber , extractors a 2 inch exhaust and 5 speed manual box . Loved that car .
This project will be awesome! First car I ever drove was one of these.
Benny mate! I swear you read my mind! I was taking about my step dads old sigma wagon the other day! So want another
I really like where this project is going.
This is the exact same as my first car. It hammered it so much. Did 3 head gaskets. And wanted to do some scorpion mods to it. Changed the interior to black from the bone. Can’t wait to see what your going to do.
Good build Benny, my first car was a '81' GL with the 2.6lt. I'm excited to see this build. I went pretty silly with my engine mods back in the day but I'm confident your will be even faster. Good work and good luck.
Hey Benny, nice sigma mate, in the seventies and eighties during the group G rally period ( if it fits in run it!) lots of 2.2 litre dates and Dazdas ( you work it out) as well a lot of my mates were running these power trains in Galants and lancers, the best motor was a 2.4 using a 2 litre crank and Tirana xu1 pistons, David Brown at Brown Davis has a 2.9 4 cyl. Natmo that goes really well as an endurance rally car. Our trick that might help if that’s a Borg Warner diff, a Borge Warner lsd xu1 torana sized.will accept a Mitsubishi cup with a bit of easy machining on the crown wheel, and bolt into the housing.I had a LA lancer with a 2.1 twin factory carbs and a sport ratio gearbox (really worth looking for!) it was JDM. Good luck with the build if I can remember any more I’ll Post it. as I recall the bilstiens we used on the cars using sigma components were brilliant, I’m using them now on my 74 rs civic. Great. Cheers. A great project.
No one likes a perished bush. Barrel Bros do some bloody good work, looking forward to seeing how these wheels turn out.
Chur Benny, I’ll be watching this with keen interest. Especially interested in the carburettors you use, and the headers you make.
excited to see where this project goes
Nice project Ben, brings back memories of my HG with x2 intake and twin stromburgs ;) can wait to see the progress
Love it! I had a GJ which used more oil than petrol when I got it. Then I started modding it with a Bert Jones performance engine build with higher comp, cam, 32/36 weber, extractors, exhaust etc and it went really well. Until some drunk dropkick rear ended it.
These used to be everywhere in NZ back in the day but you just don't see them around anymore
That’s awesome great choice!! Super keen to see its progress! Love the sigmas!
Here in the Caribbean, these came as the 1980 Galant super saloon. Had some good times in one. Astron 2 litre with 38/38 ratchet Webber, 5 speed and transistor dizzy.
Sweet car! Only things I could suggest are cosmetic like removing the bump stripping and maybe chucking on the black Sportspack detailing on the skirts and bootlid (just above the taillights), other than that the build sounds sick
excited for this build benny, couldn't wait for next episode.
An exciting project, looking forward to seeing this one develop.
This is a cool project! 😎
So glad I stumbled across this build. Had a sigma for my first car on my p's and wanted to build one ever since I sold it. Keen to see how the build goes
This could not be better timing Benny, i recently purchased a 1980 Datsun 200b wagon, also a lovely orange colour, have similar ideas to what you have in mind. it already has an exhaust, got to love that carby noise though!!!! I’m going to have a crack at as much as I can in my shed, never really had a project like this before.
Love it. Cam, carbs and handmade headers sounds sweet. Maybe a set of slightly bigger/better brakes and some retro aero. Sometimes a bit less is just enough. Have at it. Once we are all allowed outside, you might want to check out some Improved Production racing. Think you'd like it.
my second car was a 2.6L sigma, I love it Benny!
Great project this is going to be awesome. Only one thing I’d mention is it’d be good to do a ‘before’ walk round away from the lift for those of us unfamiliar with the car to get a better look. Great job either way 👍
Take some old school styling ques from the Galant GTO GSR. They look sick and aspects from them will really suit the Sigma.

Dougal Smith is love to see them build one of those, such an under rated car.
My first car was a 76 Chrysler lancer , little 1600 astron 🤙🏻 also had a 71 Chrysler galant , full hill climb spec with full cage , side draft webers. Fun little machines !!
Very cool. The first car I owned back in 1985 was one of these... Looking forward to see what you do to it...
Wow that's bringing back some memories of my first car, 2.6 Astron II, side draft delorto carb, headers and a medium Cam. Cheap fuel back then, 40-50 cents a litre from what I can recall.... will be great to see this build.👍

Someday, hopefully there will be a hot version-esque kind of show where all car youtubers can put their work to the test and duke it out.
Great vid Benny! Excited!
Awesome project. Had 4 Sigmas in my youth, first was an aftermarket GJ 2.6 Turbo which use to drink like a fish. Then wrecked a Peter Wherrett special for the seats and steering wheel and then bought a completely stock blue and black Sigma Turbo for $800 and sold a little while later for $1200. Still kick myself over that one. Last was a GK GSR. I had an unhealthy obsession with them for which I use to cop a ribbing from mates. By the way, I'm pretty sure you'll find they're the original hubcaps. Looking forward to the updates. Have been having thoughts of building a stock looking GK with an LS3 of late. Already will have the right badge on the side, just switch around the numbers. 😉
Awesome find for a project. I'm definitely excited to watch this one grow through each episode. In regards to things we might want to see done on the car, I have an idea. It's in regards to the engine for the car. Over here in america all of our cars are either normal gas or electric. I mean some hybrids between the 2, but we don't even have E85 in most states. In one of the Skid Factory episodes a couple months back, Al mentioned something about LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) Engines. I would be super interested if you did an LPG Engine conversion on this one. It would be something I have literally never seen in a car and I think it would be pretty fascinating to find out how things work, the differences in components and possibilities to showcase something most people don't really even know about.
Niceeeee. My uncle had one of these when I was a kid. We got them as the Mitsubishi gallant. Plz keep the Louvers and I look forward to the rust repair. Currently restoring an Evo3. Mitsubishi love to rust 🤣
Glass fibre front spoiler in black and some funky racing stripes will do it.
cool project, best of luck
Yaaaaas. Chrome bumpers FTW!
Now you’ve got me hooked! I’ve got a ‘75 GC Galant hardtop running a 2.0 Astron, coupled to a five speed. Lots of other goodies on it, too. A 2.6 w/ twin 45s will be more than enough for you Sigma; it should be an easy bolt in w/ heaps of torque and plenty of go.

The 2.6/5 speed/ weber swap is nearly complete :)
Gotta love someone who can wear a Haltech hoodie and still say “gonna keep it carbied”. This car is going to be a lot of fun to play with and drive.
Love the old sigma! Had a 1980gl as my first car. Can wait to see what ypu do!
Instant respect Benny , you have seen the light and gone Aussie Chrysler 🍺
My 1st car was a GH sigma. Pretty pumped for this build.
awesome i used to own a 1980 chrysler scorpion. loved that car
Mad. Great project.
Had a silver one for my first car, Special Edition Did maaaad donuts, went 180+kph Loving this build already BTW the flange gasket will need attention
looking stylish there benny
Awesome! Learnt more "tricks" and you use Texta's not Sharpies! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oh and there are about 4 or 5 different rear brake shoes for the GE Sigmas! Make sure you get a sample shoe to your brake people if you need to order them. 1384's were the most common. The others were 1382, 1384-2 and 1384-3.
Gotta love the OG
Love the new galant bro. I want one sadly they’ve almost all been melted ore eaten up by rust. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

thisis theLAW buy one from Australia and ship it home :D there’s still heaps here .
Looks like a good project! With the engine, get the bottom end balanced and give it new bearings and ARP hardware (if they make it), skim the head, and choose a cam that's suited to higher rpm. When older carburetted engines rev out to 8k rpm or around that, they sound amazing. And when making the manifold make the primary runners nice and long, and a bit wider than stock to promote high rpm power. Tuning carburetted engines is simpler overall, you can get a decent gain in power without massive expense No standalone ecu or custom wiring loom needed 👍
A guy in a workshop next to me years ago had a well kept sigma. Went pretty good too. He spent a fair bit of time on it.
dude this was my first car. love the sigma and would love to drive another one again. also not. lol. so keen to see what you do with it!
My 1st and 2nd cars were gold GE Sigmas. 1st was written off when a lady drove into the side of me. 2nd I had for years even keeping it so I didn't have to leave my VL at the local train station. Watch out for rust around the back window. Take the chrome trim off and check for any debris that might be under it. Water likes to get trapped in there. That's what eventually made my 2nd one unregisterable. I know you're doing an engine swap but make sure you replace the water hoses. I cooked 2 heads when seemingly good hoses burst. The heads were basically a throw away item if you overheat them. I had visions of putting a Lancer GSR/Evo twin cam turbo in one but a 2.6 with more compression, a cam and twin carbs will be old school cool.
i reckon front lip, boot lip and guard mirrors would look sick, maybe even a front mount oil cooler????. Keep up the awesome builds.
Carbs? Wow, didn't expect that after your rant working on the Mustang in the states haha. Love the sigma, grew up in a mid 80s model.

Nothing in particular I wish to see done to it. Just looking forward to more.
fuck yeh man, I've always wanted to see a 2.6 built, so pumped to see you build this car, love sigmas
My first car a 1980 white sigma with the astron 2000 and black dragway mags. Good memories are flooding back, and the one bad. My first accident.
Love a Siggy!!
Rust repair would be nice to see. Keep up the good work
Thanks for all the great content and Videos. On the new project car could you possibly do a full lighting upgrade ? Keep the rounds on the headlights but go to LED .. Keep safe
I remember these in the uk and those that had alloys were always that style. Plenty of old skool tuning too. The kind of mods you can do on your drive....
Seeing the front lip makes me wonder how a boot lip would look on it
Good video Benny mate.
Can smell the vinyl interior from here
The best Aussie made 4 cylinder car of the era. Balance shaft delete as well. Well worth it.
Had the same car as my first car, brought it for $600 in 1994. Same wobble in the front steering as well. The 2ltr had a bit of torque that was good for some ok single leggers :)
