I have one and love it. It’s very backyard friendly. I shot hundreds and hundreds of rounds in my back yard, out to 70 yds and my neighbors never knew a thing. Fantastic gun considering the $500 price.

I bought one a week or two back and I’ve own a Kral puncher NP03, which is made in turkey but the fit and finish is okay. Not the greatest. But this Benjamin akela is beautiful from the Turkish wood, the fit and finish is top notch. The blueing is good too. You nailed it the trigger is super light. When I bought it I thought the quality was going to be okay but it’s really a nice mid price air rifle. I’ve taken pest birds at 55+ yards with it already. Mines like JSB 18.1 grains.

Very nice review Rick ! I added a barrel band to join the air tube with the barrel for stabilization. I also added a 1/8" pin to the bottom rail to keep it from twisting. (Should a had 2 mounting bolts} She also needs a mount to keep the scope rail in line with the barrel. (l to r ) I added a 0db moderator and it is super quiet....

Full update- this gun(.22) LOVES H&N Hornets, but isn’t particular on any pellet & shoots them all very accurately. I was getting 974-1000 fps for about 40 shots, and 33 1/2 - 34 fpe which is amazing. It easily kills small varmint, but also killed a fox humanely with correct shot placement. Very pleased! Had it for 6 months and still love it just as much as the first day I got it.

Great stuff Rick! Beautiful bullpup at a great price!! When my finances change I would to get a Craftsman Series rifle. Being left handed though, the Cayden or Kratos are better suited for me! I know the JSB/FX 18.1g pellets are the go to pellets for .22 cal. rifle testing. I was surprised the Crosman Ultra Heavy 19g .22 cal. pellets were not used in testing of any of these new Benjamin rifle reviews. With V-O Crosman/Benjamin sponsoring your channel, can you find out when the Crosman Ultra Heavy 19g .22 cal. pellets will be available again or were they discontinued? I'm out and my break barrel wants more. Thanks

Like what pellet weights should i use for certain settings on the power wheel and still be able to maintain accuracy... I guess the answer will be as long as a Tom Gaylord article,😬,but i really am not sure how to make the best use of the power wheel for different pellets

  • @markmtbrider

I would say you would have to experiment and get your own dope.certainly a mil dot reticle would be extremely handy and a card for your data. 10 yard shots might not be all that different really with a high power near 10 zero and a low power far 10 yard zero. Go out to 15 or 20 yards though and the the difference might be huge on a pest bird shot.

@@markmtbrider I shoot JSB 18.13, Polymag, Polymag shorts, Crosman both domed and premier and H&N Baracuda just a bit past 3/4 power on my Akela. JSB Jumbo Monster 25.39 gr. and Eunjin 28.6 gr. at full power. The Monsters and Eunjin are slow (752 fps and 721 respectively) but stack pellet on pellet at 32 yards. It will shoot all of the lighter pellets I listed, except the polymag shorts, accurately at full power but I won't shoot them that fast until I test the groups at 50 yards and beyond. As every rifle is different lots of pellets and a chrony is going to be the only way to know for sure what your rifle will do.

Bypod mount is worthless. Not that I use one on this rifle. But for those who do and want a steady mount. This fails. The mount moves easily by hand no matter how tight. But all in all, a good rifle for the money. I have FX, Daystates, Taipan, Raw, and I find this one the go to for carrying a field for its light weight squirrel hunting. Did have to buy a scope riser to add to the rail. Even with high scope mounts and cheek rest in it's lowest position, you can't see thru the scope well.

Well, what is your shot count and how much of an extreme spread do you get? My Cayden shoots them at 895 fps, but I get 48+ shots (50-52) with extreme spread of 24 fps.. With sorted pellets I am sure that can come down to 20 fps for the extreme spread.. My opinion is that diabolo type pellets work best under 900 fps, and 880ish seems to be the magic number..

He gets less shots and more extreme spread, I get more shots with lower extreme spreads.. I am satisfied with where mine is, 52 shots with extreme spread of 25 fps (24 fps spread for 48 shots) and shoots most all shots between 880 and 890.. With 5 year warranty how can you go wrong.. I got mine on sale from Amazon for $390 (now back up to $496).. Mine is still shooting 870 fps at shots 52 then drops off from there (last 8 shots) to a low of 847 on shot 60.. I am very happy with the rifle.. I think it would be possible to turn mine down even more and have it shooting 830-850 fps range and get a full 60 shots with low extreme spreads (but I am happy with 4 mags of 48 shots)..

Kral barrel band will fit if you really want one. Floated barrel by design works wonderfully.

@@Legendpilot You can still have a floating barrel with a band. In the p-rod there are no contact points between the band and the barrel, it is just a protection against accidental drop or hit that may bend the barrel.

If you have plenty of money then ok, I bought my Cayden for $390.. and it is capable of shooting 1/4 inch groups at 40 yards.. With that said, I can buy a .22 and .25 with tons of money left over for lead.. And if it hits a bulls eye, what is the difference, no matter if it cost $200 or $2000, the bulls eye is still the bulls eye..

He makes shit up and manipulate stuff in almost every video. He never gets a nice is day to shoot n that's the best part of his videos lol. Always some wrong with weather to what not. And especially when he shoots tic-tac off the balloon n shit lol

I’ve only put one round through it and have had it filled for 24 hours. kzread.infoUgkxuuTOBP7pzC6RDNNaxoSjjV4-7jpsUjXX No audible or visible leaks so far. It’s definitely loud. I’m impressed with the look, and I have to say that I’ve been avoiding this rifle because of the looks. It feels great to hold and it’s light enough to carry. It looks much different in person. I chose to purchase this one because it checked all the boxes for what I intend for it, minus the look. I’m very happy with this air rifle
