I got the Akela when it first came available and it’s been great.
I have one and love it. It’s very backyard friendly. I shot hundreds and hundreds of rounds in my back yard, out to 70 yds and my neighbors never knew a thing. Fantastic gun considering the $500 price.

@Troy Hendrickson Wow, very sorry to hear about your streak of bad luck. Sure hope the two new ones work perfectly. They really are nice guns. Good luck.
Great review Rick. Looks like benjiman is stepping up their game with all 3 of them beauties. And they perform like they should.
Culled my hatsan bullboss for this gun, and never looked back. I love the service and accuracy. I would recommend it to anyone.
I bought one a week or two back and I’ve own a Kral puncher NP03, which is made in turkey but the fit and finish is okay. Not the greatest. But this Benjamin akela is beautiful from the Turkish wood, the fit and finish is top notch. The blueing is good too. You nailed it the trigger is super light. When I bought it I thought the quality was going to be okay but it’s really a nice mid price air rifle. I’ve taken pest birds at 55+ yards with it already. Mines like JSB 18.1 grains.
Always good coverage!
woooo!🤙🤙nice simple bullpup, amazingly reviewed by the one of the best woooo!
Happy New Year to you. Thank you for all your videos. Stay safe and healthy.
I just harvested a big jackrabbit with my new Akela .Love it!
I’m loving the Cayden from the Craftsman Series.
Very nice review Rick ! I added a barrel band to join the air tube with the barrel for stabilization. I also added a 1/8" pin to the bottom rail to keep it from twisting. (Should a had 2 mounting bolts} She also needs a mount to keep the scope rail in line with the barrel. (l to r ) I added a 0db moderator and it is super quiet....
Everything looks nice when it new and shiny 😃
Wow very accurate !! Thank you ...

That little beauty is my kinda rig!
Full update- this gun(.22) LOVES H&N Hornets, but isn’t particular on any pellet & shoots them all very accurately. I was getting 974-1000 fps for about 40 shots, and 33 1/2 - 34 fpe which is amazing. It easily kills small varmint, but also killed a fox humanely with correct shot placement. Very pleased! Had it for 6 months and still love it just as much as the first day I got it.
Nice Akela 22cal 🎯 , great review and presentation shooter #1721
Great stuff Rick! Beautiful bullpup at a great price!! When my finances change I would to get a Craftsman Series rifle. Being left handed though, the Cayden or Kratos are better suited for me! I know the JSB/FX 18.1g pellets are the go to pellets for .22 cal. rifle testing. I was surprised the Crosman Ultra Heavy 19g .22 cal. pellets were not used in testing of any of these new Benjamin rifle reviews. With V-O Crosman/Benjamin sponsoring your channel, can you find out when the Crosman Ultra Heavy 19g .22 cal. pellets will be available again or were they discontinued? I'm out and my break barrel wants more. Thanks
Well I'm looking for a .30 bullpup. Do wish CROSMEN/BENJAMIN would make it with out rebranding it sends the message we can't make one.
This looks exactly like a wooden FX Dreampup!
Nice
A barrel polish job on this barrel defiantly is worth doing for those who know how.
Buckrail makes a barrel band that fits this rifle
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Be alive and healthy everyone at home!
i seem to be having trouble finding the right high mount scope rings. what would you suggest?
I’m looking for my first bullpup platform rifle. Just a whole lot of entry level “pups” out there now. Is this the one ??? Appreciate any advice from others on this topic
Hi, can you tell me what kind of bipod that is? Looks really good.
€€€€ FX needs wood on there impact on maverick. This looks nice.
Externally, the rifle resembles the FX Wildcat. A sighting bar hanging freely above the barrel without being tied to it, I think, is not a very good solution.
Does this rifle have a choked barrel? Thanks!
What is your favorite 22 bullpup?
this or the Benjamin marauder do i spend just a tad more to get the bull pup or no?
Scope and Bipods? I need a good scope for my Akela.
Wonder if a barrel band would be in order?

My .177 shots pretty well at 25 yards,but I can’t seem to find a pellet that will shoot at 50.
Wish there was a est. cost. I know it varies but a retail cost at least.
👍👍👍🎉🔥🔥🔥 i like it 👍hadir indonesia❤️
I can’t turn the power knob, do I need to do anything? It’s at max and I want to turn it down.
Rick what part of PA are you from I'm from northern Cambria which is out sort of by Pittsburgh area a little bit away from there but you need to do a video on the hatsan bt65 SB 25 Cal shooting NSA slugs man that gun is crazy I'm shooting the 33 and 1/2 grain NSA hollow point slugs at about 975 ft per second and man is that gun shooting lights out I'm telling you 100 yd you can hit a golf ball every single shot and for the price point of that BT you will not find another gun that shoots slugs that powerful and accurate like the BT does that gun is one of a kind
How would you say this gun compares to similar bullpups in the FX brand?
I have a long winded question for you... About this one,and a .25 getting it down below that 12ft pounds for barn ratting and rafter birds... But still be able to get my 46ft pounds on high.. Like what pellet weights should i use for certain settings on the power wheel and still be able to maintain accuracy... I guess the answer will be as long as a Tom Gaylord article,😬,but i really am not sure how to make the best use of the power wheel for different pellets
@markmtbrider
3 жыл бұрын
I would say you would have to experiment and get your own dope.certainly a mil dot reticle would be extremely handy and a card for your data. 10 yard shots might not be all that different really with a high power near 10 zero and a low power far 10 yard zero. Go out to 15 or 20 yards though and the the difference might be huge on a pest bird shot.
@Joe-mr1wn

@@markmtbrider I shoot JSB 18.13, Polymag, Polymag shorts, Crosman both domed and premier and H&N Baracuda just a bit past 3/4 power on my Akela. JSB Jumbo Monster 25.39 gr. and Eunjin 28.6 gr. at full power. The Monsters and Eunjin are slow (752 fps and 721 respectively) but stack pellet on pellet at 32 yards. It will shoot all of the lighter pellets I listed, except the polymag shorts, accurately at full power but I won't shoot them that fast until I test the groups at 50 yards and beyond. As every rifle is different lots of pellets and a chrony is going to be the only way to know for sure what your rifle will do.
Asking the prices how much
Looks like a wildcat
How many shots with .177 in 10.35 grain?? 200-110 fill bar???
Booooooya Rick.
How do you think it would be in .25? And which is best for long distance?
@shooter1721

I would look at the Kratos in .25 best for long distance out of the 3 .
how loud is it?
👌👍😍❤️
Bypod mount is worthless. Not that I use one on this rifle. But for those who do and want a steady mount. This fails. The mount moves easily by hand no matter how tight. But all in all, a good rifle for the money. I have FX, Daystates, Taipan, Raw, and I find this one the go to for carrying a field for its light weight squirrel hunting. Did have to buy a scope riser to add to the rail. Even with high scope mounts and cheek rest in it's lowest position, you can't see thru the scope well.

Well, what is your shot count and how much of an extreme spread do you get? My Cayden shoots them at 895 fps, but I get 48+ shots (50-52) with extreme spread of 24 fps.. With sorted pellets I am sure that can come down to 20 fps for the extreme spread.. My opinion is that diabolo type pellets work best under 900 fps, and 880ish seems to be the magic number..
@jean-claudelaboy9679
3 жыл бұрын
@@vansantsam well I don't shoot them at the speed as mentioned prior. Currently get about 48 good shots before they really start to drop and they're ranging from 880 at 3/4 power to 845ish. But I've yet to mess with the hammer adjuster. I'm also seeing what pellet it likes best along with slugs.

@@jean-claudelaboy9679 Ya, my friend and I both bought Cayden's at the same time, his is faster than mine by about 20 fps, so I guess they come from the factory with different hammer settings.. He gets less shots and more extreme spread, I get more shots with lower extreme spreads.. I am satisfied with where mine is, 52 shots with extreme spread of 25 fps (24 fps spread for 48 shots) and shoots most all shots between 880 and 890.. With 5 year warranty how can you go wrong.. I got mine on sale from Amazon for $390 (now back up to $496).. Mine is still shooting 870 fps at shots 52 then drops off from there (last 8 shots) to a low of 847 on shot 60.. I am very happy with the rifle.. I think it would be possible to turn mine down even more and have it shooting 830-850 fps range and get a full 60 shots with low extreme spreads (but I am happy with 4 mags of 48 shots)..
@vansantsam

@@dariusscott-miller6540 Good deal.. mine does 60 shots with extreme spread of 48 fps.. Drops off pretty fast after shot 52.. (895-847) Shot 52 is still 870 then tanks on the last 8 shots..

With that said, I can buy a .22 and .25 with tons of money left over for lead.. And if it hits a bulls eye, what is the difference, no matter if it cost $200 or $2000, the bulls eye is still the bulls eye..

I’m impressed with the look, and I have to say that I’ve been avoiding this rifle because of the looks. It feels great to hold and it’s light enough to carry. It looks much different in person. I chose to purchase this one because it checked all the boxes for what I intend for it, minus the look. I’m very happy with this air rifle
