Being a PhD scholar in transportation, we are taught that the ideal share between public and private transport users for smooth traffic movement is 70:30. But in India, it is 30:70 or even worse in cities like Mumbai and bengaluru. A drastic shift is needed towards public transport, along with adoption of all those chota mota jugadi methods that we have been doing all these years with no appreciable effect.

Even metro rails don't have have better seats here and travelling in standing is horrible especially for women where nobody's sure about who might touch them inappropriately and can't voice out as ppl keep moving.. Too much crowding without proper seating, untimely arrivals of buses and safety is the biggest threat for public transportation existence..

As a 47-year-old IT professional who has lived my whole life here and seen this place change in front of my eyes, I can confirm this video is accurate. I am from that generation when Bengaluru used to be called a sleepy and green town, not an IT hub or silicon valley of India. People say Bengaluru is developing, this and that, but I miss that old one, also because I'm planning to retire now. Greenery reduced, weather has depreciated, traffic and dirt/pollution have increased, roads are pathetic, culture and language have taken a hit. Migration and urbanisation have brought in few things but taken a lot.

Leaving Bengaluru and develop tier 2/3 cities is a good ad lib but not practical. It's like saying there is too much money in Mumbai and it has to go to Bihar. We are using the wrong framework. Choosing to relocate companies simply results in other companies taking its place simply because the formula of educated population, network of technical professionals and pre existing infrastructure exists here. That is why Mumbai remains finance capital and silicon valley remains software capital of the world. The only correct answer here is build planned infrastructure for that is 25-30 years at the very least.

Because there's absolutely no planning for future when building infra. The BBMP is still using the same plan it used for designing layouts 60 years ago. No wonder the roads are so small even in new extension areas. I once heard an anecdote from an old relative. He knew an officer and asked why the roads were so small. The answer was that, if the roads are big, the number of sites they can create will be smaller in number and hence less money for BBMP. The tax paying public is suffering for the greed and incompetence of officials. Story of our lives.

As my self used to stay in BTM layout. I used to witness jam at silk board traffic signal. Its all due to corrupt politicians who are selfish think. Of themselves instead of country. Indulging petty communal politicians fooling citizens. Bring Revolution. Every country has undergone revolution. Its high time politicians get selected through upsc exams like they conduct for IAS, IPS. No pappu will become elected representatives of people.. Great work, Soch group! I'm a traffic engineer so I was very interested to listen to your opinions. I'm surprised by your quick and relevant research as well as Mohak's great presentation skills. Just as some quick notes, it is also important to note that merely broadening roads may not be sufficient because of the concept of "latent demand" (people waiting to use the road who would not use it prior to its widening). Also, one of the most influential factors for increasing congestion is the increase in the no. of vehicles, esp cars, which occurs due to increasing prosperous population. Illegal construction by rich people seems like a secondary factor.

After living in Mumbai for 8 years, I shifted to Bengaluru in Jan 2020 and i could sense the difference in traffic on the first day itself. And i was fed up with the traffic in the first two weeks.

I can actually see this issue affecting many Capital Cities of States. A lot of states reinvest money into the capital, in the process becoming overly dependent on the capital thereby seeing no diversification of a state economy and more congestion of one city. Karnataka & Bengaluru, Maharashtra & Mumbai (& Pune to some extent). I think it would be good if our states diversify their economy and have many urban centres like Germany, Funnily enough, some of our states are as big in area as Germany. This leads to less congestion and greater development of surrounding poorer regions

It is human nature to invest in places where you are gaining money. I think the Mr. Giridhar was trying to say was that Maharashtra government should invest in various cities with various industries so that Maharashtra and the people living in the state may not depend on only 2 cities

@@eashanshetty8879 Yes, you are actually right. But Maharashtra is lot better than Karnataka which is solely dependent on Bengaluru for revenue generation. There is no single city in Karnataka which has a million plus population apart from Bengaluru. Atleast Maharashtra has Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad which can be comfortably called as Tier 1 cities.

I don't have any proper explanation . I think I just want to go to another state and city . Btw it's little more difficult to crack Aliet , there r students who got NLSIU Banglore but not Delhi . Firstly, a great shout out to your research/analysis team/person. It's not common for people to do proper research these days, with "Believe what you see" attitude. Crisp and clear editing is also to point. However, a tiny suggestion, the explanation rate is too fast paced (especially for non-hindi natives/speakers) to an extent that sometimes it feels like information overload, and you have to pause and go back again to understand things. A teeny tiny bit slower / broken down than right now would be amazing. This channel is better than Unacademy and such channel's IAS lessons....cuz it goes deeper into the roots and reasons behind a simple famous concepts, and still briefly & precisely explained!! Great work. Love the channel to bits. Keep up the great work.
