Captain - while I've enjoyed your videos for over a year now, I've never posted a comment - here we go. At 74 and only semi-retired, my spare time is spent dreaming about a return to boats. I spent 24 of my best years living aboard working boats in Alaska and the PNW. Tugs, Power Scows, Lite Freighters AND a 100' Stern Wheeler. Never fishing, but at times in support of canneries. Your reviews are refreshing, factual and formulaic. The boats are 2 parters - another bonus. You post the numbers on screen where appropriate and are good at highlighting details. Excellent work. Thank you for sharing!

A lot of people miss the folded up cockpit table stored in the very thin and tall cabinet door tight in the corner just to the right of the fridge.

I have a lot of time on both of those models, and I agree. Beneteau knocked the 41 out of the park. It's better suited for couples with friends and family. I especially love the galley that's centered, and the seating that's been moved forward and higher, so that the person at the helm can interact with their guests more easily.

It is a good boat (had a chance to try one in EU), with a finishing quite reasonable for the price. In any case, a great detailed presentation, thanks Cpt Steve! But... "Beneteau takes care of the little details"... Well, this was the amusing thing to say, considering the apparent miserable and ugly aspect of the tv set black cable in the master cabin of the presented boat, and visible in the background. Thanks!

Don, electronics are Raymarine. They don't offer any other brand, and it would not be cost-effective to order the boat without electronics, to then add, say, Garmins. Anyways, down below is 9 or the upgraded 12 inch, and up on the fly they are doing the same thing, although as a dealer we made a special request for Beneteau to do 2 x 12 inch displays on the fly. Otherwise it's got separate autopilot control head, and a separate engine display. Anything else you want to know?

A really nice package and at a great price point. One question that I have is this model has 18k BTU Aircon, and the 48 has 48K BTU aircon. I wonder why ? I keep my HOME AC at 70 degrees year round so you see why this matters to me.

I'm pretty sure Beneteau would accommodate buyers with multiple AC units. There is no mention of multiple zones in this one, so the state rooms will be meat lockers and the salon will be hot!

I can confirm there are multiple units on board, with separate controls in the salon, forward cabin, and guest cabin. Don't know why/how they did 16k btus on this one and 48k on the 47.

Too bad you can not lock and open the side-door from the outside. The backdoor is very hard to open after a while of use. But I do hope Beneteau has done something with where the rain water goes. On my ST30 it hist the front window, right in the sight of view from the lower helm station, and the water comes into the cockpit rather than going out of the boat from the swimplatform. Very strange. But I hope it will be resolved on the new models.A part from this, great boats, the Swift Trawlers.

yes, it's an option. Not sure where it would go, but Beneteau offers it. I think it's a Sea Recovery.

No such thing as a port hand side! there's a port side, and a left hand side only!

There is so much I think Beneteau did wrong with this model! I don't think this model will be as popular, or at the very least, those who do buy it will come to hate several things about it. For example, the sliding door is completely useless. Why have a sliding door that opens to reveal a damn cabinet? It should have a wall with an opening window on top for bar access without having to open the stupid door. Next is the fixed pedestal table. It should either have electric pedestals, manual pedestals, or a ledge for the table to sit on in birth mode, so you don't have to store additional pedestals. Terrible!!! TV in the salon...A JOKE! It should raise up out of the counter, like other boats do, and be a LOT bigger, like a 40" or so. I'd like to see screen/shades built into the hatches, which wasn't mentioned in the video. I also didn't hear anything about multiple AC units. I would hate to see this having one unit, so your state rooms would be meat lockers just to keep the salon at a decent temp. Building models with a single engine instead of dual would be nice for lowering maintenance costs, as most would gladly sacrifice speed for more MPG and lower maintenance. Hardtop option for fly bridge? 2 stateroom/1 head layout? I like the split head arrangement, but an option for a single head layout and 2 births for those that want the 40' living space, but don't need the wasted space of a 3rd stateroom or 2nd head.

Hi Charlie, you should see the boat, because it might change your negative first impression. This boat is really well designed. To answer a few of your points: - The sliding door is a great feature. Really opens up the boat. You also have the slip up table and the access to the garbage to account for, so doing a fiberglass with a window would not work as well. - The fixed table does drop down. You have shorter legs that go in the place of the longer ones. It would be nice to go full electric, like on their higher-end Monte Carlo line, but you also have to keep costs down somehow. Anyways, I don't think it's bad at all. Table converts quickly. - TV in the salon---for some people, this will be an issue, but I find most people who have seen this boat don't have any problems with it. And if you had a popup TV, you'd lose a TON of storage, not to mention one of the A/C units is down there. You can always place a huge TV right on the counter and anchor it. - There are multiple AC units. Controls in each cabin and salon. - No hard top for fly, it would change the fantastic stability rating. This boat is rated CE Category B for offshore use, up to 35 knots of wind and 13 foot seas. I wouldn't want to change that. The ST 47 has a hard top option. - *no one* in the US would buy a 2 stateroom, single head option on a 44 foot boat. It just wouldn't be practical. Sounds like you would, but it's not being offered and never will be. I hope this helps, and you can get aboard see this great design.

@@byronshirley516 I have been on this boat. It is terrible. There are much better designs out there for the money. I understand the lack of a hard top for stability, and for me, the fly is useless anyway. As far as your excuse for the sliding door that opens up to a cabinet...obviously you haven't seen the boats with powered windows or manual fold up windows in place of a useless door opening. There are much better designs that give you the amount of open space without the needless door opening in front of a cabinet. A single engine option should still be offered, as many people would prefer it over twins, and the single head layout is an option on MANY boats over 40 feet, so you are wrong there! These cookie cutter boats made to please one specific person are worthless, as companies with multiple floorplans and options are more desired by more people.
