    Thank you Wolf, I learnt a lot from this video. Here is a simple idea you might like for spark plug replacement - use a 6-8 inch length of garden hose, soak one end in very hot water to soften it then slide it down the spark plug shaft so that it flairs out over the spark plug nut. It will hold on to the spark plug (better than those long nose pliers you used), gives more feel to finding the starting point of the thread for the spark plug avoiding cross-threading. When finished just leave an old spark plug in the hose end to keep the profile. Try it I am sure you will like it, cheers and stay upright, Stuart from Sydney Australia.

Qualified, English speaking Mechanical Engineers and others, call the bolts "Socket headed cap screws" To be completely precise, this type are called "Button Head, Socket headed cap screws." and the Tool is an "Allen Key Wrench" Just so you are know also, an "Allen screw" is a fitting with a thread, but no head. Quite a job but once the fuel tank is gone you really have a lot of space to manoeuvre around unlike my CB500X. I'm surprised that the Benelli has a service interval of just over 4000miles! Some bike Honda nowadays Biut 8000 miles. I always wonder why some bikes are vastly different from others. So with this bike you really need to do your own maintenance or else you will be paying a lot at the garage. Very good and detailed review. Once I swap my CB500X for the Benelli I will definitely come back to this. Thank you.

    Yeah Matt :) It was only a bit harder the first time hehe :P Yeah the "premium" motorcycle brands usualy give more long services. I supose we could go 10k but I honestly thing the oil doesnt last that long at 100%. Of course the engines can take it but i prefer to change sooner and with 100% syntetic :) Atm using ELF but i think its a bit "think" I liked Putoline 100% synt and Motul 7100 :) Good oils there. I started doing my own maintenance when the TRK lost its 2 year warranty (it was from Fev 2018). After spring that year Benelli started giving 3 years warranty :) Now on my "X" i stil need to go to dealer becouse she has warranty to 2022 :) You going for the TRK? Nice! Its a great touring machine :) Cheers mate Good luck! :)

    @@WolfMates Yes, it's a big debate on when to change the engine oil I just stick to the manual which is 8K. I currently have 45K miles on the Honda and she just runs like day one and that semi synthetic! Here in the UK we dont see many Benellis. It's since I've been watching your channel and doing some research that I'm really intrigued by the TRK 502 X. Benelli bikes sell well in Italy as well. So they must be good.. Once the lockdown is over I will try to get one for a test ride. If I like it I will get one and then we will talk about my trip to Portugal haha. Take care

  • @WolfMates

    @WolfMates

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@MattMiss79 Yeah the Honda engine is bullet proof :) Altough both are 500cc they could be more diferent :) The Honda feels much lighter and nimble and the TRK feel more planted and confortable for those long hauls altough is very fun on twisties hehe. The TRK engine has shown no problems, those little issues mostly come for deficient dealer assembly prior to client delivery. The normal TRK rear shock from first editions is not so good but on the X the suspension is prety decent :) I think you going to like Portugal and Spain too :) Just remember the right side of the road! haha :P cheers mate!

    Lone Wolf, thanks for a very useful video, I am about to change spark plugs, so very useful. One question before I disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter. Does this connector have a valve to stop fuel coming from the tank when disconnected, I have a little too much fuel in my tank so a bit concerned there might be a big flow. :-)

  • @WolfMates

    @WolfMates

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching Michael :) The only fuel that comes out is the one that is on the fuel filter :) The Fuel on the tank doesnt come out becouse of the fuel pump. But if you have much fuel in the tank its going to be very heavy so be careful :) You can try sucking out the fuel from the tank to a big bottle :)

    Olá Ricardo! (desculpa resposta tardia, estava de férias). Pode sempre comprar o material especifico em qualquer concessionário (até não é muito caro) e o óleo num sitio mais barato se for o caso ou mandar vir pela net. Penso que existem filtros de ar laváveis para as nossas maquinas mas pessoalmente nunca meti. Filtro de Óleo custou-me 12€ da marca Benelli mas em alternativa temos os HIFLO que são ainda mais baratos. Abraço e boas curvas!

    Hi :) Ive used on my first TRK, Putoline Ntech R 10w40 oil that was very thin and smooth and i liked it alot, realy smooth gearbox. Later i've used Motul 7100 that i recommend, also very nice oil and now on my TRK X my dealer uses ELF seems to be prety nice but its a bit thick :) Cheers Thanks for watching :)

    HI, how is the reliability so far? i just bought the Leoncino 500 which i believe is the same engine as this. I drove it today and the engine just died on me while I was driving. it started right back up, it sounded like an lost of electricity so tightened my battery terminals. Just looking to see if you experienced something like this.

  • @WolfMates

    Hello Jay :) On my both TRKs the engine has been perfect. There is a thing common to the engine mapping that if you go downhill in gear for a bit without using throttle, when you press the clutch the engine might die due to acumulation of gases. You can prevent this but updating your engine mapping on your dealer or by pressing the throttle a bit before the clutch :) Yes it was a good ideia tightening the battery since it happened to a couple of friends of mine, if it happens again, check our the ignition wires terminals (that connect to the ignition key) I had a friend that the terminal got loose. Let me know if all is good ;) Cheers!

    Hello friend, great videos. Im trying to decide between the TRK 502 vs Honda CB500x. Could you please help me decide which one to choose. I wanted to ask some questions: 1. What is the mileage of your bike? and any major problems so far? 2. Do you think this bike can reliably ride 75-100 miles every day, all year round without problems,aslong as its serviced? 3. Can the rear suspenion deal with big potholes? The roads have a lot of large potholes here in London and I need a bike that has good plush rear suspenion. 4. Do think its possible to fit a quickshifter on this bike? 5. How often does it need servicing? Considering I will be doing 700 miles a week! 6. What is the mileage in an urban setting, stop and go traffic? 7. And finally can the bike be ridden in urban traffic or is it just too big to manuever inside city roads? Sorry for all the questions, I need the bike for working as urban courier that I can rely on and there isn't alot of info about this bike around. Thankyou

    Hi there! Thanks for watching! Ill try to awnser your questions: 1- Will full tank at 80/90kph does over 500kms no problem. Fuel consuption at 90 is about 3.5L/100kph, 4,5 @ 120kph and over 5 in more sporty ridding due to the heavy weight. 2- You can do that every day without any problems. Ive done over 40k kms without any issues, just have it serviced well :) 3- The TRK 502 front suspension is good, the rear shock is decent. If you are going for realy bad pavement daily, think about the TRK 502X 4 - Aftermarket quickshift should be possible but i dont know about it. The Gearbox is very smooth tho, and fast switching gears if near 5000rpm 5 - Thats the big difference between the honda and the benelli. The TRK needs service every 6000kms and the honda is up to 12.000kms 6 - Ive used my TRK alot on the city and it can be done. It has a nice steering angle and its easy to control. However you should change the original crashbars for others than arent as much wide as the original ones. To conclude, the TRK502 is a better bike for the long travels with much better confort and wind protection than the CB500x, brakes are good, engine is torky, doesnt vibrate at low RPM (only after 7000rpm has a low frequency vibrations). In the other hand the CB500x is a lighter bike (looks much smaller) but its more nible specialy around town. Cheers! Let me know if you have any more doubts :)

    Planning to turn mine into a streetfighter. I love everything about the bike but the whole front is so fat and ugly and pointy, it'll be gorgeous once it's slim and given an older headlight. The witing under the fairing is an absolute nightmare unfortunately, whoever designed it didn't give a shit about being neat.

    @@WolfMates I have had motorcycles with these types of filters and 20 drops of new motor oil are added to them to trap more dirt. Although they were low-displacement motorcycles. The way to know is to feel the filter well what your motorcycle comes with from the factory to feel if it is oily. Excuse my English, I'm writing to you from Colombia :)
