Thank you immensely for posting this. It brought a sense of reflection and calm to me. I usually take a yearly pilgrimage to a Benedictine monastery in Alabama. I have not done so since the covid pandemic began. Many blessings to you.

After Morning Prayer, that break that you mentioned is supposed to be used for Lectio Divina. You seem to be following in the steps of the late Fr. Daniel Kirk, OSB, my former Junior Master and my mentor. He is dearly missed.

An interesting and refreshing look behind the scenes of a vocational journey. For most of my adult life, I've been wondering about the possibility of becoming a friar. Each time that I get close, I get cold feet, or something happens that deflects my seeking.

@@hamie7624Exactly. Comments about idol worship are so frustrating. It’s almost malicious ignorance. There is just so much support from Scripture. The statues and images are not graven images because they are not the object of worship. They are simply there to help one to bring to mind the real person to whom one is praying. All prayer is ultimately directed to the Lord. Mary and the Saints have no power except from God through Jesus. The Saints are also fully alive in Jesus Christ not dead. It can all be found in the Bible in both Old and New Testaments (Gen 20:7; Ex 25:18, Num 21:9, Ji. 42:28; John 11:25; 14:6; Rev. 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11, 1 Timothy 2:5, Rom. 15:30-32; James 5:16-17, and so many more).
