My Mum is in the final stages of ALS and has received support from the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Thank you Benedict Cumberbatch for helping to publicise this heartrendingly awful disease and raise money for the fight against it.

I'm pretty sure this is the best ALS ice bucket challenge ever. Well, maybe Tom Hiddleston's is better, but Ben's is certainly the funniest. :) Big grin.

Good on you Benedict showing everyone how its done. For fun he should nominate Sherlock and do it in costume. At the end he'd grumble "Tedious" lol and then he could nominate John Watson or Loki, Iron Man, Thor, Batman, you get my drift to raise even more awareness. It could get pretty creative if other popular fictional characters got in on it from both Literary and Film history. Imagine Dracula (Gary Oldman) taking an iced-blood bucket challenge or Maybe Daniel Radcliffe would do Harry Potter etc...

I couldn't of been more pleased with Benedict Cumberbatch's Ice Bucket Challenge video. Benedict played Stephen Hawking in the BBC production Hawking about the professor's diagnosis of Motor Neuron Disease (MND/ALS) as a Phd student. One should learn from Benedict how to complete this challenge like a Legend.

I love the guy who dumps the last bucket on him, laughing as he runs away, leaving Ben just standing there, done with the entire world.

Well done Benedict, I will be doing it today. My late father passed away in July 2010 due to this horrible disease. Took away about 20 years of his life.

0306babylove well...don't be sorry ;) I didn't say his looks don't matter :) ..but the first thing that made me love him was his voice - I heard that voice and I was fascinated - I remember seeing him years before that (in 2007) in "Atonement" and he creeped me out. It's one of my favourite books and I thought he played his character brilliantly. btw I also love his lips, eyes, cheekbones, hands (!!!), legs, ass, jawline...and his beautiful smile. But that didn't matter to me in the first place because I fell in love with his talent and his personality and his voice...after that I realised I am also very attracted to his body :D

Beyond being an incredible actor he seems genuinely a great person. Great work guys!!!

Not only does he make sure to tell you why he is doing it, but you can clearly see the pieces of ice in the water each time. That really was cold. Bravo sir!

When I read the statement from his PR REPS that he would do the ice bucket challenge, I just knew that he was going to make a full on production out of it. And boy, he did not disappoint! Not only did he complete possibly the best ice bucket challenge to date, he did it in true Benedict style. Not only is he a brilliant actor, he cares about his fans. With this video he gave them what they wanted (shower scene?!) and I am pretty sure they returned the favour in kind by donating what they could because of it (I know I did). And people still wonder why his fan base is so hardcore and devoted to him. I am proud to say that I live in a world with people like Benedict in it. He uses his celebrity powers for good, although I am sure he would do the things he does whether he was one or not. So thank you Benedict for being you and trying to make this world a better place, one polite gesture at a time. :)

Let's just say this is the best ice bucket challenge I've ever seen, not just because it's Benedict Cumberbatch but also because this is the most hilarious one I've seen so far! You've just got to love him!

I love Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayals in The Fifth Estate and as Khan, however seeing his real self makes me love him more. Fantastic job! I don't know how to donate in pounds, so I will find someone to donate to in the U.S. Incredible!

Even if you really dislike him, he deserves some props for this. He did it multiple times including in ( probably an expensive) suit and shirtless! He didn't even seem to care about possible water damage to his phone or his motorcycle helmet! What a cool guy! AND he nominated Lewis Hamilton!! :D
