Many who need sponsors and backers can't do whatever they want because they can be blacklisted. Ben is being disingenous when he said she can do whatever she wants. He knows fully well that being blacklisted or cancelled can hurt one's career when sponsors are threatened by lobby groups. That is why Walsh and Knowles are careful about what they really say on DW and this Candace issue.

DW pays hosts to advocate an agenda. That’s the difference. They didn’t just platform her, they were paying her a salary. She was not independent, she was an employee. There is a difference between a publisher and a platform. The Daily Wire is a publisher. Jeremy boring is paying people at the daily wire to say things within boundaries of the publisher. If someone comes on the daily wire who steps outside of those boundaries, they are allowed to be fired. But Jeremy Boring will also say that that person is free to go to another publisher or platform and say whatever is acceptable. He is for free speech, but when you hire someone to drive a truck and they bring in a bicycle that is not acceptable for the company. Not that the company cares that you ride your bicycle, you just have to ride it somewhere else. is this making any sense to anyone?

"Ill see you tomorrow" - Is what you say when you're implying you're not quitting. I doubt it was a surprise. But that comment was basically "you're going to have to fire me, I'm not going any where".

you guys there is so much speculation here...we don't know if she was fired or quit or it was mutal...Candace did say "see you tomorrow" but she also said "I'm finally free the day after" --> That would suggest she wanted to leave....even if she was fired I wouldn't consider that "cancelling" someone....if you get fired from a place you don't even want to be at I would consider that mutual. I thought cancelling refers to mainly an effort to get someone silenced from having a voice anywhere...Kanye West, Nick Fuentez, Andrew Tate etc etc...that's getting "CANCELLED" --> getting fired from a network you don't even want to be at and them not trying to collude with anyone else to stop you from carrying on is something completely different.

I really appreciate these two contributors (Jessica Burbank & Amber Duke) for representing a mostly moderate approach to interviewing and analysis of current news stories.

It's not deplatforming or cancellation. Being cancelled means people try to ruin your life for something innocuous or for a mistake most of us make (most of the time). He, and Ben said he doesn't make managerial decisions but we all know he has input, is co-owner of a private company. If I had a small private company and I didn't like the way someone approached differences or problem solving, they wouldn't a part of that business anymore. First of all, we don't know that she got fired, BUT people get fired all the time for making public statements that don't align with their company, especially if that opinion is closely tied to the business type (politics in this case) and could be indicative of or a misrepresentation of the views or opinions of that company as a whole. Calling people snowflakes for that is lazy and clearly shows that you won't be running a company in the future.

She was bought out of her contract. This is the opposite of fired. Think of it as not renewing a contract. But, if she signed an NDA, it works both ways. He can't speak much on it because if he does it will void the NDA, and open the flood gates.

You missed out the more significant part of the interview, where Shapiro stressed that they are a publisher, not a platform. And he and Rubin were talking about the DW's Overton Window - which is apparently quite narrow. Interestingly, Matt Walsh from the DW recently made a video "canceling" the governor of Texas for an executive order that "outlawed" anti-semitic speech - on the grounds that (a) speech should not be outlawed in the first place and (b) no protective regulations should single out an ethnic group as particularly worthy of protection.

Ben clearly shows that Facts definitely care about his feelings 😂

Doesnt he have a law degree from Harvard or Yale? I think you're probably correct. They approached it strategically and probably NDA s are signed by all. Neither has talked about this specifically and Shapiro has refused when asked.

Well apparently if there is we won't know about it because there is some kind of nda around lawsuits in DW contracts.

The dispute has been going on for months before. Also Ben is not the person who terminates someone on DW. It does seem Ben and Candace both have strong personalities and worked well for the most part but internal issues not related to Israel/ Palestine could be going on an issue. As a viewer, it is a sad situation. I respect both of their opinions.

Cancel culture? How do you figure? Perhaps he concluded that the divide in their respective Outlooks was too vast. It's also acceptable to split for personal reasons. He's not curtailing her freedom of expression; the world is her oyster, but he has no obligation to give her a platform.

All due respect, both you ladies know the difference between cancelling someone and parting ways with an employee. I saw a recent interview with Ben and he refused to an even small answer concerning Candace and said that he wasnt in the position to fire her which Candace herself said. So they didnt "cancel" her and its disingenuous of yall to imply that. When a person is "cancelled" they are attacked from the 4 corners of the internet personally and professionally and are treated like they have no redemption. Kinda like how America forgot that RoseAnn was their favorite sitcom, was Jewish and got called racist after a tasteless drunken tweet that wasnt meant to be racist and they shut her whole show down. Are we sure they fired her? Shapiro had been pretty tolerant of Owens saying whatever she wanted. But she was a bad fit anyway.

The investors said it was either her or their money so there's probably a non-disparagement clause that both agreed to when they signed.

Candace sounded like she didn't mean it, when she said, "see you tomorrow". She sounded like she was ready to move on.

Candice was also starting to go down some serious conspiracy theory type rabbit holes. In some of her appearances on other people's podcasts she sounded a bit unhinged. I don't think the daily wire canceled her for her opposition to the Israel Hamas war. I think there is a lot more to this story that has yet to be told
