This song is honestly offensive to me, as a Christian. If it were any other demographic or religion, people would be rioting in the streets. I can't hear any of the words, but the imagery is absolutely disgusting. Christ on the cross is NOT something that you get to pretend to do. Lil Nas X comes across like a wimpy/uncreative/dumb rip-off of Marilyn Manson at this point. At least when Manson was doing the Antichrist stuff in late 1996, not long after by late 1998 he was able to explain himself & gradually became more laid-back. Manson was a spiritual but not religious type, interpreting and combining belief systems in his own way. His quotes "I never really hated the one true God, but the God of the people I hated" and "people should stop copyrighting God" stuck with me. And some years after that, he started using fake Bibles in his stage stunts with blank pages. It seems in Lil Nas X's case, he keeps trying to do worse & worse with no valuable meaning, other than to make people mad, and does a piss poor job explaining why he makes the things he does.
