Why? There's a ton of skill transfer. Ducking balls heading out of bounds doesn't change. Digging up balls that dribble over the net cord is the same. Knowing when to Ernie or ATP is the same (or to defend against those). Leg speed and power is the same. Arriving in good balance is the same. He mostly gives up a mixture of accuracy and power, and has to avoid attempting fancy stroke mechanics. His biggest problem for a long time is that the portion of his brain devoted to left-handed skill is smaller than for right-handed skill, and this negatively affects precision timing. Small brain regions are bad clocks.
