Tribute to Michael Jackson by André Rieu, performed at Maastricht Vrijthof in July 2009, featuring "Ben" (instrumental) and "Earth Song" (Carmen Monarcha). André Rieu speaks in German, despite the concert being in the Dutch city of Maastricht. This is because the German TV station ZDF commissioned this concert. The concert also exists with André Rieu speaking in Limburgs. This version of the concert was broadcast on Dutch TV (with Dutch subtitles!) in early September 2009, a month after the ZDF broadcast on German TV, and 7 weeks after the actual live performance.
At 0:33, there's a woman with her child (which seems quite content, but not overly enthusiastic), and at 8:03, the same child is enthusiastically waving her arms in reaction to the Maastricht children's choir waving theirs!
And doesn't the moving image at 1:42 prove that Michael is right when he says: It don't matter if you're black or white? We all are one human race and share the same emotions.

The love continues. I live in TX and even hardcore Tejano music lovers be bumpin MJ full blast. Now I see that even the classical industry was affected by the loss. Michael WAS a visionary as he often said. In a society where even more people are recently jumping on the green bandwagon, Michael sang about it (Earth Song) 12 years ago. He set so many precedents; he was amazing! An artist whose talent will NEVER be matched. RIP MJ. Many have said it, this proves it: your music will live forever.

I saw this concert on saturday on ZDF - and as he started to play Ben out of nothing - I was crying! Love MJ - thanks André!
Oh my God this is simply beautiful. Just found more tears for Michael. He was so right when he said great music is immortal. So sad how America is so focused on his personal life and missing out on what the rest of the world knows: Michael Jackson has forever changed this planet by doing what he loved the most: making timeless music. And to see all those people in tears, to have classically trained musicians honoring Michael... It makes my heart glad.
Goes to show what a truly amazing artist Michael was to have a tribute like this. He will be remembered forever. He touched people's hearts and spoke to them no mater what nationality, religion, social status.

This was a breath taking tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON and i personally keep his memory and goodness alive every day and since his death there is not a day that i dont think about him and his innocent soul . What have we done to his soul? What have done to this really good guy ? Why did we hurt him and why couldn't we understand him better while he was alive ? This was a spectacular tribute! The best I've ever seen! Most tribute concerts focus on Billie Jean, Thriller or Beat it - you can tell they were no truly familiar w/ MJ's legacy nor were they consistent true fans. This used 2 of the most powerful & emotional songs in MJ's arsenal - Ben & Earth Song. I must say i cried watching & listening to this, thank you so much for uploading & thanks to those behind this concert, for such a heart-wrenching & passionate tribute!

this is so toutching, special cause of the song ben, i had to learn to sing that song for my musictest on highschool 30 years ago. it kept always a special place in my heart cause this was the song which made me realize that i love michael too. i always liked the music from the jackson 5 and the jacksons but at this time mike got a special place in my heart. mike used also classic music in his songs like in history, smile and little susie
