Ben Askren & Daniel Cormier REACT to Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill DRAMA + Holloway KOs Gaethje

Спорт

Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira gave us an incredible knockout finish in the main event at UFC 300, and Ben Askren is BACK with another episode of Funky and the Champ to discuss it with Daniel Cormier. DC and Ben break down the end of the fight, and discuss why Herb Dean could have stopped that fight after the illegal kick. Plus, Cormier and Askren react to the "fight of the year" between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje. And don't miss their thoughts on Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler getting an OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

    Hill has 0 take down attempts in his whole UFC career, he’s literally never been a wrestler or even Muay Thai clincher. Why are they acting like 1) He’s a good wrestler and 2) He could even take Alex down? Jiri and Jan are both way better and more skilled grapplers than Hill (based off fight history) and neither could keep Alex down with successful G&P or submissions consistently.

    He calibrated the distance with his hand fighting, had him up against the fence and didn’t want to reset the distance. They hand fought again, as he stepped on Hill’s foot-he pulls Hill’s right hand down and counters with a Mexican hook (45° uppercut) with the same hand he used to hand fight. Sorry DC that was gonna happen regardless, highest level of striking we’ll see in the UFC at the moment. Beautiful madness

  • @maxabt

    They literally did hand fighting 3 times after Herb tried to stop it Jamahal threw a right Alex parried it and threw a check hook/uppercut hybrid. This theory is bogus. If Herb had tried to stop it and Alex had thrown the hook immediately this would make sense but no your theory makes no sense.

    Cormier always does this. Bruno Blindado took 4 illegal blows to the eye, then Cormier arrived and said it was Bruno's fault. Jamahal didn’t lose because of Herb Dean. BUT he definitely disrupted the rhythm of the fight and the distance control, even while I was watching it live I was confused. Pereira took advantage of that moment, while Hill lost focus. It makes MORE sense that Jamahal’s mind would go immediately to “Oh, break and reset” after kicking low on accident, lookin at Herb. While Poatan took the strike, knew he was getting into a good rhythm, and his focus was completely unphased, eyes directly on Hill. ALL credit to Poatan for having the presence to take advantage of that moment. PS- Again, this isn’t a defense or argument, just the facts. Hill might’ve gotten ko’d 100 out of 100 times against Pereira. All I’m saying is that Jamahal lost focus for a split second, and Pereira was 120% focused in that moment. I’m NOT saying the fight would’ve gone different, just that the moment influenced the fight! Stone hands is the real deaaaaall

  • @sanabnormal4975
    @sanabnormal4975Ай бұрын

    I understand the argument but i think here it was more a thing about mental focus than other thing. They even had the gesture of touching gloves after they understood no stoppage was gonna be done. I get it's normal to be a bit off and Alex was 100% on, but that is about how Alex was from the start and it's one of the things that made the difference in that critical moment. Also, he did not make the illegal blow, if they will always stop after a thing like that it's another tool for cheaters to get away of a danger in a critical moment.
