Level of competition is a very important factor when judging a fighters record. That's why is see khabibs record as only 12-0. Because that's how many UFC fights he's had. if khabib was 28-0 IN the UFC. he would've been the best of all time 15 fights ago. Just watch, if he doesn't retire soon which he will because he'su not dumb. He will get beat. He's not unstoppable. Matter a fact I predict his next fight with Tony will be his first loss. Khabib and askren take advantage of the fact that people don't realize they were fighting cans before the UFC. And claim greatness from the public. But still. Going 12-0 in the UFC is hard. But it definitely doesn't make you the Goat or should it make people think you're invincible.

You have to look at the circumstances, he was all good until he started losing. Even admits he could fight longer, but realizes he's just not good enough to win a title. So the juice is not worth the squeeze for him.

Anyone who climbs into a locked cage to fight for his life, gets my respect.

Ben is a great guy and a truly rare Jewell..his honesty is so great and he is humble and gracious ..we will miss him even though he has only been with UFC for a year...He is a great champion for any sport..We wish him the best with his hip replacement and his future..

I’ll admit, the first time I had even heard of Ben was watching him against Robbie, but ever since then I had been his biggest fan. His influence on the UFC was huge, his way with words and his quick tongue. I was 100% convinced he was going to wipe the floor with Masvidal. It sucks seeing things turn out this way but I am grateful for being privileged enough to watch Ben. Thank you Ben, enjoy retirement

Its funny. Somebody I've watched fight for years retired so i thanked him and you trolls want to run your punk mouths since your online behind a keyboard. So again thank you Ben Askren for the countless hours you sacrificed in the gym and the octagon. This dudes mentality and positivity is amazing. Never was a fan watching him and listening to him but right now he’s shown so much good mental energy and outlook. Good for Ben.

Good for him... He came to the game late, but win\lose he still brought some excitement to the UFC. there's nothing left to prove, as he already became champ in other organizations. He's a good fighter, but a even greater coach, it's good he's teaching the next generation of fighters!

The champs since 2013 were like GSP, Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley and Usman. All of those guys would murder Ben my guy. He was never going to be champion.

Glad you were able to get your shot in the UFC! The Funky One is still the man! Hope he heals up well enough to continue training with his students at his wrestling academy. M-I-Z...Z-O-U!!!!

I was never really a fan but huge respect to Ben for a great career and for always telling it how it is. One of the realest dudes in mma

Remember in the Robbie press conference, Ben said old Dana White will be telling his grandkids how he tried bringing Ben to the UFC to prove Ben was trash lol. Ben predicted his own future.

I have become a huge fan of Ben this past year, mainly from his appearances with Ariel. Quite the character and down to earth in his approach to the losses. When he came up short he owned it. Birmingham Hip resurfacing. Had the same surgery 3 years ago and just ran a marathon last year.

For a lot of UFC fans they don't even know who Ben was they never seen them be completely dominating data seen him get one victory in the UFC and that was it. People said he was the khabib of Japanese MMA cuz that's where we fought. But if you lose two of your three UFC fights maybe you should start thinking about hanging up the gloves and maybe doing like a full-time podcast or something

One of the best? Okay Ben fanboy cool your tits. Keep in mind the level of wrestling he has under his belt, and then remember the competition he was facing before UFC. Then you'll realize why he was 18-0. Of course cans can't compete with an Olympian even if he is one dimensional. But, the UFCs top 15 can... Oh and, Alexander volkov is the GOAT of the sport just because of his record right? Level of competition matters.
