Oh, and before anyone asks, I have no interest in dedicating videos to any other episode to the extent I did with Ben vs Hal. I only did this one not just because it's controversial but because there are a lot of reasons why. Other episodes are controversial for simple reasons: the verdict was divisive. The stats were wonky. The research was questionable. None of that is interesting enough to warrant a separate video imo.

John I agree for the most part that death battles can be subjective. But there are objective death battles. One example would be Deku verses Altair Pendragon. Certain Battles are for sure true. People don't like when there are objective winners in a battle that is unfair.

I agree Kuro seems a *very* chill guy hell I think he's the friend I needed when I was picked on at school for loving Ben 10 to the point of being called a Ben 10 freak because it's all I'd draw. (the character got me into drawing). But Kuro's debunk series was mostly Ben 10 bias and whole lot of Green lantern downplay for example "Ben can turn into the nanomech as do the antman thanos thing" with out acknowledging little details like greenlantern's rings resistence to such attacks (nanomech would be melted the moment he touched the auto shields among the many counters being superior to what the omnitrix has showcased. Greenlantern is also severely underrated then I did more research and yeah Hal is above Alien X and Ben in general and some of his feat done without amps.

@baki484 I can't say I'd agree. But everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Green Lantern. I have pictures from when I was a kid in Green Lantern pjs. I just don't think base Green Lantern could beat a Ben with master control. It's always fun to have a discussion though. Please feel free to explain why you think Green Lantern could win. Or don't. It's aight either way

I know i said this in the previous video but i feel like the reason why people value the verdicts was cause Death Battle holds a lot of influence in the vs community. Their old slogan of "settling the debate once and for all" did play a key part in that when looking back at the earlier seasons. Remember how they claimed in season 1 and 2 that Superman was limitless and how he lifted the Book of Infinite Pages solo when it was mostly Green Lantern who was putting in most of the work carrying it? They changed their tune on it over the years but still people were given the perception that Superman was this invincible being who couldn't be beaten by anyone even that's not true at all.

I remember it and I think you’re mixing the Spectre and Book of Infinite Pages together. Green Lantern plus some other heroes helped lift up Spectre (who definitely can’t be that heavy/dense to be the weight of everything) For the Infinite Book, it was Shazam who helped SuperMan move the book a small bit before it launched them back (It’s also not infinitely heavy, its just the weight of all books created, it does have an end apparently) Either way, Death Battle definitely had huge consequences for any kind of VS debate for at least a while.

Frieza vs Megatron is another huge example. This is a matchup where both characters are pretty even in power and good arguments can be made for either winning (especially for Megatron), but because they lowballed the SHIT out of Megatron and made look like he was out of his league, and considering how the matchup to outsiders initially looked like a shitwipe, they did not do a good job selling the matchup to people in terms of how it'd actually go, and now the consensus of the matchup is no longer "this matchup sucks because the characters are incompatible" and is now "this matchup sucks because the characters are incompatible AND it's a pointless stomp".

This kinda makes me wonder what a team up between Green lantern and Ben 10 would look like.

Hal would be mentor. Come to think of it Max's Tennyson is like Hal Jordan if you look at their origins so Hal is a younger superpowered grandpa max.

Despite the flaws, I still feel that your video was a well put together analysis of Ben vs Hal. And the drama around it. Oh and about that concluding line, I think a better way to put it would be "why do you feel the need to be validated for liking a character by them winning a Death Battle episode"

I respect your ability to call out when your wrong or misinterpreted something. I’ve been catching up with your other season retrospectives so I’ve been enjoying your work, look forward to season 6

One other thing I noticed in your first video was how much you criticize Kuro over his “I was fine with the recap” statement. I believe that this is a misunderstanding on your part and bad wording on his part. He appears to be referring to the part where they recap the story of Ben 10 during their analysis section, not the conclusion of the death battle.

I'm glad you admitted to your hypocrisy, it takes a lot to own up to things like that. And it's not like your video was bad in any way, I actually learned a lot about Hal from your last video. As for the people's views on DB episodes, there'll always be some who just want their characters to win and don't care about anything else, but most people care more about understanding why one side won over the other, and I think that's why this episode was so bad in particular since the explanation was just so lacking on both sides. I won't go off into a million explanations or anything, I'm sure you got that in the last video, but still, good video.

Nha you were fine, I agree with what you said at the end about the conclusions in the sense that certain people dismissed an entire episode because of a conclusion (like I heard a guy say that the episode he hates the most is Ultron VS Sigma because in the conclusion they contradicted what they said in the analysis about Ultron being constantly defeated by viruses and that's kinda stupid since the rest of the entire conclusion is correct both by its own logic and by everyone's general concession). Worst of all is that as you said, they are not consistent, people complain that Ben VS Hal is bad because of the bad conclusion but they don't do the same thing for other episodes with bad conclusions like Guts VS Nightmare and Iron Man VS Lex Luthor. Same goes for stomps, I saw a comment saying "If Ben was going to be stomp by Green Lantern, why bother doing the episode" when that's completely idiotic since they done stomp matchups before (which are WAY worse than Ben VS Hal both by the episodes own logic and by the general consensus) like Optimus VS Gundam, Weiss VS Mitsuru, Captain Marvel VS Shazam, Flash VS Quiksilver among others. If anything, it's better when they do stomps matchups because when they do debatable matchups where both sides have an equal chance of winning, one side inevitably ends up acting like an annoying sore loser and tries to create arguments (generally bad ones) where their character completely stomps the other (Wally VS Sonic and Vader VS Obito). It's near impossible to do a video like this without your feelings towards it creeping through in one form or another. While you are a bit aggressive in your points, they are also valid points in the end and kept your video on point and accurately aired your grievances to both the fan bases reaction as well as how the show runners responded. No harm no foul. You made your point in a coherent way, even if trolls and die hard fans still try to poke holes in it all. This followup video just asserts your passion for reviewing death battles as a whole. I'll be going to watch some of those season retrospectives now. Cheers, keep up the great work.

Everyone makes mistakes and that makes sense. People have bias, ah well, but your opinion is your opinion on the end. I agreed with most of your points in the original video!

This is a pretty hard episode to talk about if anything. I still like the video but I feel like the main problem is that you could of worded your points better in the end but it happens.

I thought it was made and said practically perfectly and this may or may not be the petty side of me talking, but I really hope Kuro himself sees it.

Big problem about Death Battle in the past and at times now, is how they never focused on both combatants equally and balance it out.

just got caught up on your videos covering this! ive been very entertained with these, ive known about kuro before the db episode and i was put off by your demeanor, however upon reading ur pinned comment and description and a couple from here i was able to see it as more understandable than mean. overall i think your video was good! versus debate has always been a very sticky mess to cover, you do pose a good point, whether the GL db used was composited or not, he was not composited (assuming he was in the first place) to his maximum as shown by the audio clip you provided that mentioned HaL being the strongest version of specter and what not. im personally in agreement with Kuro that DB shouldn't have touched the character, as he said they seem to be more focused on melee brawls but not every character is that. one last thing, i dont believe i have EVER heard that the omnitrix has a cooldown on defending ben, also also, this doesn't work as this happened before and the omnitrix presumed to use bens then severed hand to return to him and while severed use of the omnitrix trasnformed the hand AND Ben who was on a diff plane of existence at the time. however as you already said in the description of ur last vid this wouldn't even come up since the sodabro effect would allow ben to counter hal.

To me, the research is cool to learn the characters and to show how much the Death Battle team understands the characters, the animation is solely for entertainment value (though i do 100% understand and somewhat agree with the animation being important. Death Battle likes to be contradictory in their animations for dramatic effect and it makes it confusing. like how they say Jiraiya has nothing to stop Roshi's Kamehameha *while showing him do just that in the animation in the background* during the conclusion), and the conclusion is way more important than the verdict. The reason I believe the conclusion is so important is because *anyone* can say who wins a VS matchup. The conclusion is them explaining *why* in their eyes that the winner was decided. And if its explained poorly then its explained poorly and it makes it feel like they either didnt do enough research or they ignored some of what they researched. A good example is Jotaro's diamond destroying feat that they seemed to pretend didn't happen in the conclusion of Jotaro VS Kenshiro.

The video made sense don't take down the video It was a good video 👍

The verdict honestly only matters because there's a sizeable portion of the DB fanbase that goes around parroting DB and ONLY DB's analysis/verdict regardless of how good or bad the quality of the analysis actually is, otherwise I don't think most reasonable people care about it aside from how bad they explain some of them.

Because iirc, in the first episode of the entire series we see that Ben actually pressed the face down and was Heatblast most of the episode and it timed out on its own.

You kinda answered your own question, only the Omnitrix from the original series (and by extension episodes from other series that take place around that timeframe) has that function. Once it upgraded itself and eventually got replaced by other models in subsequent series, timing out was no longer shown to be a concern as it was replaced by what fans assume is a sort of battery system, where Ben can transform back and forth as long as the Omnitrix has enough energy.

Those are actually safety features and limiters put on the Omnitrix for whoever is just starting out with it... features that can be disabled. If you want to stick with the OG show for your example, then the proof is in the season 2 Finale, "Back with a Vengeance", where ben is able to temporarily disable that (and then thinks he unlocked the master control). Throughout this episode, we get a big taste of how strong Ben can be at his full potential, Gwen comments about ben being Stinkfly "for hours" (he was giving rides to tourists as a way to make some easy money), he can switch between forms with a thought, and when he close to go back to human for a small bit he was able to go back into alien form the second he thought of it without waiting for a recharge.

@@13KuriMaster he didn't only think he unlocked the Master Control, he actually unlocked the entirety of Master Control. The main features of the Master Control are: 1) Transformations can last for however long the user wants it 2) Instant transformations with only the user's mind (no need for cooldown or touching the dial) 3) Can switch between any transformations directly, without changing back to the user's OG form 4) Access to everything the Omnitrix has - this means all utility features (i.e. language translators/changing the device's appearance/DNA restoration/etc), access to the entire DNA database, etc. In "Back with a Vengeance", Ben actually unlocked the entire Master Control, however because he didn't knew that he had access to all of the features/aliens (in fact, at that point he didn't meet Ben 10000 and discover he had over 10K aliens, let alone the 1000912 total), he didn't used it and only used the ones he knew he could access (if, for example, he knew Alien X/Humungossaur/Feedback/Eatle/Spitter even existed, he could've used them in the episode, specially in the iconic sequence where he's quickly changing between all of his aliens while fighting Vilgax and Kevin 11 in the Null Void).

The Argument is he literally is capable of willing himself through it which depending on what you believe works but its insanely hard to find a medium ground for DC and Marvel characters due to the length of time they've been around, so many having countless writers and generally a lack of care for consistent power level for the sake of a more interesting story. Most big members of the JL feel like their a lot less competent and powerful inside a JL book as compared to their adventures in their own solo series. I'm going to be real, where I personally place Hal I'm not confident he'd beat X but there is a way to debate Hal of beating him when you look at his history and high end feats. DB Debates comic characters usually by their highest end feats which isn't always bad as it stops them from using low ends outliers most of the time like when street level characters react to people like Superman but it's not exactly always a fair basis to look at them in their best feats with most of the time they aren't written that way and there's no singular writer to try and get clarification form

Someone stronger than Alien X couldn't erase Green Lanterns

I’m biased towards Ben 10 and so is Kuro, you’re biased towards Death Battle and Liam’s biased towards Green Lantern and DC Comics (He’s a big fan of the Imaginary Axis, which so am I, and has done a lot of work on DC and just Comics specific Death Battles)…..and that’s okay. It doesn’t discredit anyone and that’s something I had to learn a long time ago to realize the fact that we’re all hyped up about this means that we all just really care. No malicious intent, this isn’t political. Nobody is actually dying and it’s fine to express your opinions just as Kuro and even Death Battle did. Sure we can all get annoyed and heated but that’s because we all just want Truth and Justice to prevail…like these characters do… To be fair though, I don’t expect you to be reading this comment. I know from personal experience this battle can be A LOT. So please, turn off notifications and focus on your mental health as much as you can. Work on your next review and maybe I’ll see you there. ✌️

I also really hope there’s no bad feelings towards Kuro, I’ve worked with him before and even met the Ink Tank in person and he’s a great guy, really caring and proactive and just wants to dispel some misconceptions about a character he loves. But I do agree with some of your points about his analysis, hell even stuff you didn’t mention in your video I disagree with him on. But I’m sure he doesn’t still hold those same beliefs now. Also, Seththeprogrammer hasn’t been in a video with him for at least a few years now. So I’m pretty sure he’s broken ties with him just like with Justarobot. Even claiming them as not the right scalers for him in his newer power scaling video. Glad he isn’t with those guys anymore. Because yikes. I also recommend looking into 5YL or even just Ben 10 on Netflix/Max if you can, it’s a great series. Immediately after this fight he had Lobo lose to Ghost Rider. I understand what you're trying to say but you can still be biased towards a franchise or character and agree that the character loses. The video should just be judged for how the arguments are presented without assuming the writer's intentions or personal favorites.

@@comicking428 Okay I understand that and agree with you in how the information should be presented, but that's not what I'm saying at all. Hell, I watch Imaginary Axis alot and I think Tyler's great, but Liam has shown a history and proficency of anaylzing Comics characters specifically. He even took Blue Beetle's side in Ben 10 vs Blue Beetle on their recent Podcast. And of course Liam does other match ups where Comics characters lose, like with Lobo, but his proficiency has clearly shown favoritism sprinkled throughout other episodes writings that even I've noticed (like calling parallels to DC multiverse or characters in other episodes and even using terms like "Bastich" in non-specific episodes for that reference that I've noticed). Which is fair. Those characters and their world are awesome and he’s even batted against DC on podcasts using other forms of media where his proficiency lies. Yet in the case of Ben 10 Vs. Green Lantern, where it's to be "judged for how the arguments are presented", it's definetly not his best work. There are many inconsistencies that Jon brought up in his previous video and even just flat out lies that I brought up in a previously made blog post: comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/battles-7/death-battle-ben-10-vs-green-lantern-my-thoughts-2023537/ (Disclaimer: There is some information even I got wrong in this old blog I wrote, even claims I don’t stand by today, but Liam literally misconstrued Grant Morison's Green Lantern run, multiple times. While this battle is far from subjective, it is still amusing to see people defend the fact that Ben 10 lost somehow to a guy who had his entire power stolen from a guy with no powers. Alien X would wave his hand and erase every version of Hal from the timeline with no problem.

Outside of speed it wasn't a hardcore stomp. Plus most of the people including DB themselves expected Ben to win. As for why DB episodes still happen if they're stomps, usually for entertainment value. If it makes for a fun fight, giving a series some spotlight, or if there is actually a hardcore debate and the other side really isn't aware of how strong the opponent is.

I feel like this was likesonic vs wally, even if it a stomp every other match up for ben could be a stomp for the other opponent. which imo ben vs hal is less of one but most of that is well alien x, waybig, atomix, and feedback/chromastone doing the bulk of heavy lifting as they can either somewhat to being able to compete with hal and in chromestone and feedback's case could potentially take the energy feom the ring and throw it back at hal but im not going to go further as idk if that possible or not (Also yes i know chromastone has died twice in the show but he does have a similar power set up to feedback)

fun fact about alien x that makes the entire death battle just sheer disrespect to Ben 10 is Alien X and his abilities, if they watched ultimate alien, which lets be honest they didn't watch it because why would they do deep research, but celestial sapiens have the ability to erase people immediately, Kevin in the very episode of ultimate alien I am talking about specifically says, and I quote "they could just blink, and you'd be gone" meanwhile those guys were showing him basically Thanos snapping Green Lantern, it is not that Ben 10 shouldn't have lost, (cause lets be honest even with all of Ben's feats, he probably doesn't even have nearly as much experience or training as Green lantern) it is that they portrayed Ben's aliens, and specifically Alien X terribly, they didn't even use the actual creators of Ben 10 as evidence because they probably know that Ben is terrifying, if you want more information, ink tank goes deeper into this

The whole "blink and you'd be gone" thing was referring to normal humans, not space cops who have tanked the erasure of the entire multiverse and fight multiversal reality warpers every Tuesday. And the creators of Ben 10 say so many contradictory things that are sometimes just them joking, and the fanbase runs with them as if they're 100% canon.

@@crazycgaming3074 The same people who said celestialsapiens cannot survive multiversal destruction unless they form a group, which makes Alien X weaker than Hal? Yeah I read that q&a blog. It doesn't matter that Hal is human. He still tanked erasure on a scale that makes Alien X look pathetic. You're the clown who plugs up your ears whenever the facts prove your childhood hero is not even close to the strongest in fiction. Being universal fodder is not enough to beat even mid tier DC heralds.

@@crazycgaming3074 Yeah, human if you take away one of the most overpowered weapons in the DC universe out of his hands. Also, they address the whole "blink and you're gone" in the Q & A, and it comes down to "GL's so op and his ring offers plenty of protections, so he wouldn't be erased." Creative liberties and animation critiques aside, the animation was clearly showing the GL ring preventing Hal from getting erased.

I really feel indifferent about this whole thing. I think Alien X should have won because he’s omnipotent but I don’t know anything about Green Lantern feats and how the community reacted to it.
