Great piece, thanks for doing this. Also, thanks for not giving too much away on the escape rooms. I've only been through one, don't ruin the others!

The park is a joke. Belmont should look at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for inspiration on how to be a good boardwalk park.

Be glad there's even an amusement center there at all considering that when the original closed in 1976 (and the property was left crumbling for 12 years) a timeshare or a plain grassy park was almost put there. It's a miracle the roller coaster survived 13+ years of fires and abandonment and was returned to life...that NEVER happens. Did you know it was the people at Santa Cruz, who, in 1990, are largely responsible for kick-starting putting all the rides back in to what was just supposed to be a shopping center (opened in 1988) with a roller coaster and carousel? Santa Cruz is 100 years old this year and the "rebirth" of Belmont Park was only 36 years ago. Who knows, maybe in another 20 years it might be as grand as Santa Cruz. Here is the park in 1976: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3t1w6V7o9e0eLA.html
