Didn't she orchestrate the death of his son , enslave him for moth's while he tried to keep said son safe in his mind at the cost of his sanity, successfully orchestrated his death a second time and then used the dagger to make Rumple thank her for killing his 'worthless brat'? Might be remembering that wrong or she might be a horrible person.

I agree. She's a hypocrite, that's all there is to it. By saying she'll run away from him, she's pretty much saying she doesn't trust him not to hurt her or their child. Rumple is who he is, but Belle's no picnic either. It's like she's blind to the fact that everything he does is to protect her and give her happiness.

He was so abusive to Belle this season and I don’t think she wanted her child to be scarred by the sociopath she married like Bae was.

I have to escape and never allow him to see this child again"(ignoring the fact that the baby is his too and he has right at least to hug him as an infant) viewers "Rumple is the bad guy cause he should allow Belle to escape and not expect to ever see his own baby, even as an infant!" well, from the dislike people show towards Henry a child in first seasons, I already knew fans of this show don't exactly have a right brain and I'm glad you were all hurt-butted by the twist of 6x10 which made Belle the actual pawn and mad one this whole time👏👏👏

So you completely forget Rumple constantly kept going back to his Dark One persona and kept pushing Belle away because he couldn’t even try to be a good man. Belle literally said it herself, Rumple is too scared to try to be worthy of his sons love. She wanted to give him his best chance, and believed if Rumple was in his life, he’d either end up just like Rumple, or he’d end up like Bae, which is dead.

It's not right for he to believe that he'll live by her rules, from what I've seen Rumple wanted to keep stuff to himself after Bae died but everyone including Belle kept including him in stuff he didn't want to be included in. And Belle's " I can fix him" attitude really doesn't help.

@@ATinyWarrior she never turns a blind eye when he does good, he just always makes sure when he does good, the people he’s helping end up wishing he didn’t help them to begin with. That’s why she’s constantly disappointed in him, because he truly can be a good man but consistently fails to try, or even make a genuine effort, because every time he does it always ends up screwing him over in some way. It wasn’t till season 6 finale that he finally decides to do the right thing just because it’s right, not as part of some greater plan.

@@ATinyWarrior he felt like Neverland was a way to redemption for him after Neal “died” and had a perfectly good way to not die had he remembered he had Pandora’s Box and just left it in his shop. As for the Underworld, he was blackmailed into doing it, if he hadn’t Emma would have told Belle he became the Dark One again, so that’s not him being selfless, that’s him being cowardly

Rumplestiltskin is by far my favorite character. He's enigmatic, ruthless and cunning. But beyond anything else, he's actually honest. He's got no reason to lie. He is who he is. Belle may have her reasons for wanting to leave Rumple, but she has no right to take their child away from him. Rumple DOES love his child and Belle (strangely), and he'd never willingly want them hurt and would do anything for them. One thing I'm disappointed about the show is how they completely changed Belle's personality. Here, she's selfish, hypocritical, self-righteous, judgemental, naive and unwilling to forgive (mostly with Rumple). Which is sad cause Belle's my favorite Disney princess. "It's one thing Rumplestiltskin is good at, it's finding loopholes." Everyone thinks he's a horrible person, but actually he tells things like they actually are. People hear what they want to hear, not the truth. People think he's cruel and unfair, well sadly, life tends to be that way. Beneath that rough exterior though, beats the heart of a loving and broken man who just wants to be happy.

I agree with most of this, except that Rumple wouldn’t do anything for them, which he actually says himself (which is part of the honesty you mentioned). He admits that deep down, he is still the dark one, and he craves power, he just doesn’t think it has to be a choice between power and his child and Belle. She had a right to hate him for giving away her child without her consent, even if he didn’t know it at the time. He chose power over his child, just like his own father, Peter Pan.

@@chloehanley1475 tbf, he gave away his second born because he wanted to save Bealfire many years ago when he wasn't the dark one and couldn't even bring himself to harm another person, plus, he didn't know that there will ever be a second child or if he'll ever find love again. And, I don't think Belle was even born yet back then, so.....it's hard to ask for someone's consent on a matter when they're not even born yet.

I just got into the series recently and i agree, Belle's characterization here is quite different from the animated version. She's gullible to a fault and almost always overreacted to anything Rumplestiltskin does. At least physically, the actress looks similar to Belle, even though they behaves differently.

But the problem is he's selfish and ruthless not just honest. He's willing to SACRIFICE others for his happiness. Remember when he was willing to KILL Emma. Thats not just telling it how it is, you're psychotic. I'm sure the man beating his wife's ass but buying her flowers and apologizing afterwards also THINKS he loves his wife. Did Rumple's mother love him when she cursed him to be without Belle.? She thought she was doing what was best for him. Rumple didn't take to it too kindly, but he did the same thing to Belle, being insane enough to think he knows whats best for others but hurting them instead. Thats why Rumple, who sure may have just wanted happiness, is also UNDERSERVING of a happy ending. Even just days before he died he put his own grandson, his own flesh and blood, and the only thing he has left of Baelfire, at risk. Like who does that to the son of the son who died basically because of you.? Rumple was honest but he was also God Awful and deserved to die just as unfulfillingly as his mother and his ex wife (who both died at his hand) Like comeon this isn't rocket science 🙄🙄😒😒

The Hyde Evil Queen reinstated the border spell from the first cursw, preventing everyone from leaving. The Charmings drove into in an earlier episode and it was like hitting a brick wall. So just leaving the non-magical way wasn't an option

How the HELL did the writers think that after all this time, after everything that happened post season 3 finale, and everything Rumple did to Belle let alone everyone else in that time, that any happily ever after would have these two together? Belle never should have forgiven him. Regina put in the damn work, Rumple refused to change so, so many times and became even worse. In season 7, his goal was to get rid of the darkness completely, but even as one of the few who liked that season I am fully aware of the fact that even with a darkness-free heart, one so pure it was practically blinding, and Emma even with the darkness still held onto the goal to destroy it forever AND SUCCEEDED, he would rather have all the darkness bam and cause suffering. He had the chance for a fresh start the likes no one has ever gotten, the chance to reinvent himself completely corruption-free, and he still chose to be a villain. I’m sorry, but I hate to see Rumple and Belle happy together. It makes me a bit sick, tbh.

Honestly I just blame the writers. The reason rumple chose the darkness and made Hooks sacrifice worthless was because without rumple as the main villain, this show would be awfully boring. They needed someone to stir the pot, and it just so happened to be him. Props to Robert Carlyle for having quite the skill of playing the bad guy.

Sure, he tried to be good, but Belle left him when he pulled Excalibur because of everything he did in season 4, so he decided to get his power back because, if he can’t have love, he could get power. Season 6 was him trying to be the evil Dark One again and realizing he can’t be that without losing everything that’s truly important, so he instead switched to trying to fix his family and save his sons soul. He went through alot, but all of his actions are actually in line with who he is. Season 7 was him desperately trying to find a way to be with Belle in the afterlife without succumbing to the darkness again, and he did. Sure, he did some bad things, but he mostly did the right thing. And before you say he screwed over his grandson to save himself, keep in mind the dagger could control him and he could end up killing everyone he loved without wanting to. Plus, how did he hurt Henry if they were in a land without magic and Henry was perfectly fine without any action on his part?

Belle: You call this love? Me: Let's be real Belle, he's loved you a hell of a lot more than you ever claimed to love him. Falling for someone and then demanding that they change who they are for you, isn't love. Somewhere I still believe that their first true love's kiss actually failed because of Belle. She was _trying_ to break the curse, instead of just loving him for who he was like the animated version.

If only Belle never marries and fall in love with Rumple. :(

Imma mention it cause it needs to be mentioned... I am not okay with this relationship. I never have been. First, there's an obvious actor age difference, which just makes me slightly uncomfortable, then, Rumple's controlling as all hell. Additionally, he does a lot of terrible shit to people. While some people think he should get to keep wee baby Belleskin, I believe that we can't treat him any differently then normal society would. For instance, I am kinda thinking killing or maiming people is just generally frowned upon in society and we don't really want murderers to raise kids. I'm kinda thinking that is a similar scenario to this here. Additionally, Rumple literally sold his child before he was born, never told Belle about that fact until after it was made clear she was pregnant, and finally he literally refuses to let her leave or go anywhere without his knowing *cough cough christian gray cough cough*

I feel like Belle is such a bad influence to little girls. Me watching this scene knowing she's gonna go back to him. Me watching this scene knowing she's gonna end up with him regardless 🤮 Sickening and I wouldn't even call myself a feminist.
