I've been riding with the same helmet for the last few weeks, and I really like it. It's comfortable (the Torc I was wearing beforehand had an uncomfortable pressure point right on the middle of my forehead), and the photochromic visor is awesome! I don't know why more manufacturers don't make this feature standard on all models. I was a little worried that it would blur the display on my TFT (Thin Film Transistor) digital instrument display as some flip-down sun visors have, but I can see it clear as day regardless of the tint on the visor. If you don't know what I'm talking about, put on a pair of polarized sunglasses and try to use your cell phone and you'll know what I mean. My helmet is one of the later production models that does NOT have the cut-out for the Sena Bluetooth unit. I guess one of the complaints was that even without the Sena installed, the wind noise in the left ear was pretty bothersome. There is still a little bit of pronounced wind noise on the left side (only) on my model, but I'm pretty sure it's due to the plastic air dam on the lower left edge of the visor. I think Bell put this on when the recessed Sena Bluetooth was still an option in an effort to diminish the wind noise, and they left after they removed the recess feature (so there still some wind noise on the left side). There were also complaints that the air duct closures on the top of the helmet would vibrate and buzz when opened, but Bell seems to have fixed that issue. All in all, if I had to buy another helmet in the foreseeable future, it would be this one.

I have the Airflite which I bought the pinlock protectint for but does not get very dark through the clear visor. I have RST green visor for it but it's tough to see on my ride home from work at night. I'm looking at the Shoei and Bell brands for there transition visors and the Bell is much cheaper route. What do you prefer Bell or Icon? I also struggle with the narrowness of the icon, bought the XL and had to get the XXL pads for it to just put it on without popping my head

Nice demonstration, thanks for sharing! How quickly does the visor clear up? When entering Norwegian tunnels w/o lighting or just ridiculously poor lighting, I'm imagining it might trigger some issues if it's too slow at clearing up. I understand that it's not going to have the same on-off effect like a welding mask would have, but I'd like to hear your opinion if you have encountered a similar situation.

I like the idea. Is it darker than sunglasses? Overall are you satisfied with your Ryker and have you had any problems that needed to be corrected? Thanks

I would say its as dark as needs to be and does the job well enough. The only thing I have to get used to is the movement of the helmet/visor vs wearing sunglasses. As for the Ryker, I have been VERY satisficed with it, but man oh man am I glad I know how to wrench on it because labor here is very expensive. The sway bar and the shocks are a definite upgrade plan for plus size riders. And the radiator should have SOME kind of protection from debris. Anything is better than stock or nothing.

Have you noticed any issues with the visor not being able to properly seal? I just received my helmet and it gets very close to closing but is about .5cm open. Do you think this would be an issue when riding? -first time rider. Sorry for noob question.

Mine does not show any indication of a sealing issue. I would recommend to have the place you purchased it from check it out though just to be sure. The force of the wind will keep it from opening anyway.

Thanks for the reply! I found a review on RevZilla that mentioned a similar issue I’m having so I’m going to try and troubleshoot using their suggestion. When you close the visor does it completely seal with a snap?

I love it even more. There was a rattle on the top vents, but that went away. The visor does not fog up at all, it's easy to clean and most importantly it fits MY head better. The airflow has been excellent, but still waiting on this 100+ degree days.

The best I can guess is maybe. I'm not the best with head shapes and names yet. My Icon Airflite is definitely a lot narrower than this on me.

@@MotoRiff77 Headshape is the biggest deciding factor of comfort level of a helmet. The Icon was very narrow for my head and I had to use their 3x sizing. The Bell helmets have always fit me well when I was actually racing cars, so it was a no brainer. And the cost with the MIPS system is a win/win. But beware that if you want to replace the transition shield, that alone is almost the price of the helmet.

If your DLX mips model has that Com port, it is the source of left side internal helmet noise. Don't believe me? Ride with it at highway speed and then cover that Com port with your left hand. The initial fix would be to cover the Com port with duct tape or a sticker... too tacky? Figure out how to seal all openings under that access plate. It makes a huge noise difference!
