Hey Josh and Ashley! Great video! Quick suggestion if you can get there...if Ashley likes adorable little towns, Durbuy (not far from you in Liége) is certainly worth a visit. My father is from Belgium (Charleroi area, very industrial), but we now live in Wisconsin. We were just in Belgium last year and visited Durbuy for the first time-amazing tiny town! The topiary parc is not to be missed! Down in the Ardennes area (near Bastogne where the Battle of the Bulge was fought in WWII so full of history, both old and recent). Incredible natural scenery and more great food (les saucisses,le jambon d'ardennes, wild boar, les croquettes, etc, etc, etc) as well-couldn't more highly recommend if you have the time for a day trip. Love your channel along with the Endless Adventure! Passez une bonne journée aujourd'hui en belgique (for you to figure out :)! Oh man, almost forgot...you unquestionably have to have a gaufre liégeoise while in Liége! Much more like a cookie or sweet bread than a Belgian waffle typically served here in the U.S (bruxelles-style). Best with no toppings-very chewy and sweet just as it is! Just my two cents (or Euros, I guess ;)! Enjoy!

Around 08:20: 1) Wine production has been skyrocketing in Belgium in the past few years and, yes, there's an estate just outside Dinant: it's called "Château Bon Baron". Just Google it. 2) The cookies that you've spotted in that shop window are called "couques de Dinant": they're a popular speciality, about which the locals are very proud. In my opinion, though, they're beautiful but so hard that you might break a tooth or two on them (no kidding), unless you dip them into coffee/or whatever before.

Dinant: - citadel used in both world wars but without real function. - Belvedere where 2 Nobel price winners studied (incl Francois Englert) - just out of town, one of the craziest airplane stunts has been performed (blow between the huge rocks you see when entering the city) - has a great history in wine but is nowadays known for Leffe beer, brewed in the Abby - historic had this town a few clashes with adjecent towns - birthplace of adolphe sax - people go there mainly to hike or bike in the surroundings - the parking of the match supermarket downtown is free

They actually originate from the region round the river Meuse where you were at. The locals used to fry small fish and started cutting those out of potatoes one time the river froze shut.... the rest u know :)

A must try products/food: pommes frites (my Belgian friend always corrects me it is not French fries), waffles, chocolate, BEER and jenever (a type of gin produced in many flavors). If you will come by Gent you can try home made jenevers in various flavors at 't Dreupelkot.

I really doubt fries were invented in Belgium. Potatoes first arrived in Spain from the new world, where they used to cut their vegetables julienne and cook them in oil. (Sounds familiar?) The Belgian story is that one winter the lakes were frozen, so they cut their potatoes in fish shapes and cooked those in oil. (Please.) That is what they told us in the Friet Museum in Brugge. I don't know who invented fries, but I doubt it is us. (Am from Belgium.)

I think you had a 'Luikse gehaktbal', which is basically a meatball in a sauce prepared with 'Luikse siroop', a sirop made of pears, apples and apricots (www.sirop-de-liege.com/EN/).

you should come to Ypres,in west-vlaanderen,a region that is mostly know to have been obliterated during WW I. It is a rather small town,I think approx. 40000 habitants and a lot of good places to eat,we love it here

Little knowledge about the belgium flag. According to the constitution the flag is red yellow and black. Flags are read from the post outwards. Everyone including the king puts it backwards
