BELFAST truly SURPRISED us! ☘️- FIRST TIME in NORTHERN IRELAND!

Sign up for SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: safetywing.com/a/wherearewe
In this week's travel vlog we are in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the first time. Belfast truly surprised us!
We start our day at Blinkers Belfast for some delicious Irish breakfast. We eat a sandwich made out of Irish Sodabread. Then we make our way to St. George's Market where we sample more amazing food. Next stop is the Titanic Experience. After exploring the Museum and the SS Nomadic we visit another small market called Smithfield Market. We continue strolling through the streets and go to the Botanic Gardens and the Ulster Museum. We admire Queen's University Belfast from the outside before we head to The Thirsty Goat for some hearty Irish Food. We eat an Irish Boxty and an Irish Stew and we also enjoy a local beer and cider. After dinner we go to the City Hall and take a tour with the Hop On Hop Off Bus. Finally, we end the day at Kelly's Cellars with more beer, Guinness and local Irish whiskey.

If you’re ever back you should head to the North Coast & visit the Bushmills Distillery. If you like sampling local food, the Ulster Folk Museum is worth a visit. Haste ye back!

Hi guy's i was born in the south of Ireland about 100 metres from the the cliff edge in a stone cottage which was so cold in the winter and we had a huge open fire and we would huddle around the fite and often cook toast, I as i said that i was born there and moved to the UK when i was 12 and what you had to eat was commercial food for the tourist, when we moved to the UK my dad god bless him would buy a pint of milk in a glass bottle and leave out of the fridge to go off and he made the best ever soda bread ever and i still cook it myself today, take care and god bless to you both 🙏🙏

We must admit we don't know every detail of the history and politics when it comes to Northern Ireland. I (Anja) have a Scottish friend who used to live in Belfast and she always told me about how things were there and what it was like to go to high school there and I couldn't properly grasp it to be honest. However, many people might disagree with us here, but we actually really enjoyed how Belfast felt like such a mix of Ireland and the UK. It felt really unique in that way. We actually like Belfast better than Dublin and also much better than most cities in the UK. When it comes to the food, you're right, it really has great food. Our next video will actually be a Belfast food tour 😊🤤

@@wherearewe-yt I'm actually from the greater Dublin Area, from a County below Dublin, and you're right. Belfast has more character, more culture, more flavour, and more fun than Dublin does. Belfast is a fusion between Irish, and Brittish (Specifically Scottish) cultures. But the history of colonialism, plantation, and violence still lingers deeply in the cities history. Many alive today remember, and were active participants in inciting The Troubles. That being said, the city is trying so hard to make something of itself outside of this history. Belfast is a fun town, full of fun people, with incredible character, and incredible food, and a rich GLOBAL history due to the docks, and the ships that were built and launched there. I'm not a Belfast native, but over the last 6 years I've made it my own, and I love it.
