BELFAST TERROR TOUR: 7 troubles locations in the city centre

Gain a fascinating insight into Northern Ireland’s most recent conflict with DC Tours.
The Troubles was an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it is sometimes described as an "irregular war"or "low-level war".
The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998.
Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England and mainland Europe.
Today, Northern Ireland is a fairly peaceful place and there are now educational tours which explain the conflict.
DC’s city centre tour ‘A History of Terror’ is the No.1 Belfast walking tour. The tour explains the history of the Troubles and the path to peace. It was ranked the No.4 Experience in the UK at the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards in 2019.

I have spent many years in Belfast, on and off and it is an amazing city. The people that I have met over the years have all been warm and friendly and very genuine, in fact it was like a second home to me. I am so glad that Northern Ireland as a whole is moving forward in the right direction, god knows, the people deserve it 🙏

Hi, I was just around the corner at the Abacorn bomb. I was in the Bodiga bar, and my pint glass of beer went up and came down on the table and smashed. I ran out of the bar to the worst scene I have witnessed. Lots of people were wondering about their clothes smoldering. Blood every everywhere, the first on the scene were the army, they shouted out does anybody have first aid. I put my hand up and they threw down field dressings, I was an operating theatre technician in the RVH. I watched them coming out of the front window with a covered stretcher, I later discovered it was someone I knew from the RVH a trainee from the X-ray department Janet. Under the cover of the stretcher. It was her torso. I went on to be a Prosthetist, dealing with amputees in Northern Ireland and those who lost limbs at the Abacorn bomb and many other atrocities over many years.

I love Belfast. Was there last spring and going back this fall. Wonderful city and touring in areas of conflict is essential to getting a grasp of the history of the Troubles. Thank you all who are teaching about this important period in Irish history 🇨🇮🇨🇮💚💚

Very enjoyable video. We visited Belfast last month and absolutely loved it. The museums, the restaurants and the bars were fantastic. I liked to think by visiting that I contributed to the peace there and enjoyed meeting and talking to people from both sides.

The GFA was very far from perfect but growing up in Belfast in the 70's and 80's it seems unbelievable how Belfast has come back to life over the past 25 years, Let's hope the dark days never return.

Great video. Ex-squaddie here, served on the Creggan, Derry twice early 1970’s after BS. Visited many times since then on peace projects funded by the EU. Met ex-paramilitaries, victims, ordinary folk living through those times. The GFA was the best thing that happened after years of war. I’ll always respect a small country fighting for independence over colonial rule. Best wishes.

Without going back to the start of Colonialism and Plantation of Ireland. I firmly believe that Partitioning of Ireland was the final nail in the coffin for both Communities. This must be reversed in the future for the Children, for to make one Community, and one People.
