Being 26 years old and still living at home
Ойын-сауық
An update to my previous video where I spoke about being 25 and still not being where I wanted to be in life! I was sitting on this video for a while because I didn't know if I wanted to upload it haha. But feel free to leave a comment, let me know what you think.. and lets have a discussion about getting older! 🥴
Thank you so much for watching x

Same have you turned 24 yet I’ll be 24 in 1 week ?
You summed up my entire life. I’m 26 and I struggle with feeling insecure and that I’m so far behind because I’m at home with family. I’m working on a degree program that I’ve been working on it feels like for 7 years. I look around at those I graduated with who have graduated college and have started families now. I’m going to be in school with 18-19 year olds after returning back to school. I feel like it’s a real struggle out here.

I’m in the same boat, living at home, in college. It was almost intimidating thinking I’ll be the oldest in the class but I realized there were people even older than me in my class. I have one more year to go. Keep pushing and you will get past it soon!

I'm a 26 year old guy, and have a similar situation! I have moved in and out several times and seem frequently to come back home. I think also it was harder for me since I didn't go back to college (even then locally) until 23, so I have a hard time relating to people our age 😕. I haven't had any new friends in well over 8 years now. I literally know of so many people who are good "peers" but all of them have their own lives, are busy, don't hangout with me ever, and therefore wouldn't be really "friends". In the time I was in college before COVID started, I also didn't really make friends. It sucks when I can't find similar experiences from others.

Thank you for this video. I'm struggling at the moment with my current situation and have been so low and depressed which I've never seen myself like this in my life before. But more than anything, my mum constantly comparing me to others and putting me down is the worst part. Like anything little she literally compares me to my cousin which has become so irritating.

Gosh this hit me.. I'm 22 and I really want to move out , but the truth is.. It's hard financially. I think that I already earn quite a lot, but it's all being allocated to multiple medical tests, procedures and other stuff at the moment. And it makes me feel so insecure because of it, even though it's okay, and I have to just wait for a little bit. So thank you for leaving this comment, it really helped me! Hope you're doing well 😍

I'm 26 and living at home as well. I used to get upset about it but know I'm just enjoying my life. The economic squeeze of living on my own is tight and its nice to be around family which I appreciate now more than in my early 20s when all I wanted to do was reproduce. It helps knowing that this is become the norm. Life is short and I don't want to worry over such frivolous things.

Yes! I love this comment, good perspective, one I'm holding now! Plus we get to save money and travel or even put those funds towards hobbies and the time towards self reflection and development
Glad i found your video. Interesting. I'm 25, a quite fresh graduate waiting for my calling for my hospital placement so basically ✨️Jobless✨️, have a license but forget (and afraid) how to drive bcs I've been studying abroad where I can't afford to have a car, and living at home with my parents and little brother and sister. Sometimes i feel useless but i guess i just need to enjoy this moment with family and knowing myself more before i actually go into the busy worklife as a doctor later on.
Honestly thank you for this video I'm in the same situation and I didnt move out during university so there is this feeling of being stifled in my adulthood. Similar to you I imagined myself being in the city with my own apartment so it can feel really disappointing. However, I've always tried to maintain a sense of independence through my career and also knowing the amount of money I'm saving. It is a tricky one though and one shaped a lot by culture. But I think one thing that helps is learning as much as I can while home so I build my self sufficiency already and also just living my own life and making my own choices even in a constrained environment. I've dabbled on a little too much but your honesty is refreshing🙂
I didn’t move out until I was 26. So I totally get what it feels like to live at home till you’re in your mid-20’s. It sucks, but I didn’t live as a total dead beat. I did move out and now I currently live alone. It’s hard but it’s worth it.
Good luck to us all.
it’s really fucking hard in this world

It really is!
I moved back in with my parents after a failed five year relationship at 25, 6 months ago. They kept our shared apartment because he could afford it alone were I couldn’t afford it alone and I didn’t want to stay in a place with someone who cheated on me. The past year I haven’t been able too drive because of a health condition that relapsed and basically they refused to clear me with my license. I sold my car to pay off some debt. It’s been very hard having all the independence stripped from me (out of no choice of my own) and it feels like I have failed. I have been comparing myself with my friend group because they are all married, engaged and or having kid. I thought I would be in the same position by the end of this year . In other worlds getting the carpet pulled from under you has been fucking hard. Rn I’m focusing on paying off the remainder of the debt it have from school about 4K and then decide try to get cleared and get a new car….although being back with my parents has been hard because I don’t even have my own space. I had to throw away or sell a lot of my possessions and basically I’m living out of a closet and sleep on the couch. Well at least I’m not homeless. 😅 definitely not dating anyone right and I went back to therapy because I’ve been very depressed. I hope it gets better soon.
"I was quite nervous to film this" -- oh I feel the same when I record, still haven't uploaded. Feeling inspired by you though!
I'm 24 and will be 25 soon all I can think about is how I haven't achieved anything. I'm doing my masters, still at home, still shy and introverted and I've been trying to not give up but I just can't do this anymore. I really just want to sleep for a while. But videos like this give me some hope

This was spot on. I'm 25 and I still live with my parents. We definitely should normalize that it's OK to not have it as fast as others. We have our own clock, society has put a time limit on everything and we base our lives off of what society says it should be. You do it on your own timing, not society's timing. Life should never be a rush. I'm so glad I came across your channel. And I don't feel like an adult either lol I can't explain why lol but I completely understand you on that. As a 25 year old with no driving experience, just working and living at home with my parents kinda gets me upset. Is there a rule book that states at what age you should be independent and move out? I see people that I went to High School with owning BMWs, Mustangs, Mercedes Etc. I went to school with these people, Unlike them I had my own struggles. I got diagnosed with cancer right after high school and that SLOWED MY WHOLE LIFE..I was 17 a the time but ever since then when I went to the dmv they have paper work I didn’t know they had. I have to get clearance from my doctor so I have to go through this WHOLE PROCESS!! It pisses me off. I feel like I wasted time I can’t get back anymore!

I don’t know how to feel when I see people living the life that I’m stuck in since 2019.. i have my license but I’m not confident about myself to drive it alone, but I keep saying that younger people are driving without any problem, especially those 2003-2005 who are soooo young to me.. And I guess the main problem is the driving thing because it will solve a lot of issues if I start doing it. I am trying to get my own car by this week but I’m still not confident yet, but I’ll force myself. What’s your update about the driving case?

@@explorermike19 why would I do that? My degree is the best way to me getting the job I love (a doctor) and thus be able to pay for a permanent house. Why would I delay that even further? Sure I could work 2 part time jobs that pay less, work overtime and buy a house but then I’d still need so many money to go on school. Not a practical answer. @@rebeccaprentice3813 well, you can be rude if that is how you like to respond, but by your own description, it doesn't sound like like you are "making it". Saying you are going to school to be a "doctor" doesn't give you any special credibility. You can start bragging about being a doctor after you finish ALL your schooling and residency and establish a career in medicine AND have some personal wealth. Until then, you are just an adult living at your parents house.
@rebeccaprentice3813

@@explorermike19 only that’s literally not true. Working on yourself involves pursuing your passions and making a career choice that is most appropriate for you - in this case, I am working 2 jobs, going to school, saving all my salary for my degree so I can buy a house I love when I have a much more stable income. Keep judging babe but I’ll be much happier in 4 years than if I moved out and struggled when I don’t have to right now
