There can't be all geniuses or bosses without laborers. It can only be equalled or greater in either side(good/bad,wise/unwise etc). It's this balance of spectrum in hierarchy of all things that keeps the world going, and each excels in turns. You may try to transform some common minerals into greater ores, but it'll be as futile as me trying to enlighten u, if the right conditions aren't met.

Ninety-five percent of young adults admitted to having taken at least one such picture of themselves. " The average 16- to 25-year-old woman spent 16 minutes taking an average of three selfies per day, or five hours a week, according to Beauty site FeelUnique, which commissioned a study earlier this year, Refinery29 reported."

    You’re 100% right dude. I lived in Jinan in Shandong province for over 2 years then moved to shanghai; night and day difference. I could get donuts and coffee in Shanghai at any convenience store. Could NOT do that in Jinan. Not to say I was miserable in Jinan I quite liked the experience and the differences. But it’s not something I could do forever. It was fine to live in my crappy apt in Jinan for a couple of years and to experience a new culture for myself on my own for the first time as a unique experience in my early 20’s. I’m 33 now though, I’m done with it haha. I ended up staying in China for almost 4 years and I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything in the world. There are times I deeply miss it. I’m not “old” by any means, like I said I’m 33, but China will always remind me of my early 20’s youth fresh out of college. It can be a difficult place to live outside the tier 1 cities for foreigners and hell even Jinan is much easier than a tier 3 or 4 city.

    I think you are right on point about Beijing and Shanghai doesn't represent the rest of the countryside of China. However, this is an issue for ANY country. As you said, Los Angeles or NYC doesn't represent the majority of the US. However, they are one side of the story. So, Beijing and Shanghai are one side of China. They are real. But I do get your point that, as a foreigner, you will find yourself the "western town" in Beijing or Shanghai. Set aside all the "training doctors" propaganda, as a Chinese physician who resides in the US, I agree with most of your critics. China does not short of praises or ass kisser, but it needs real critics to help it improve.

I mean, for God's sake, last time in Shenzhen I went to Walmart, after that drank Starbucks and took a metro in which people actually lined up to enter the wagon! Like in Hong Kong! The most china city of big cities is Guangzhou, still a very nice city though, if you close your eyes on yelling cantonese aunties :) Seriosuly though. China is changing rapidly. There are almost no foreigners in Urumchi, where I traveled this summer but you'll find wine clubs, Pacific Coffee, Boy London, korean cuisine and HK style egg waffles, and it's the smallest and most distant of second tier cities. LOL), and I buy lots of imported goods, foodstuffs, beer, etc, sometimes just at Walmart, and sometimes at the really posh supermarkets. Beijing and Shanghai definitely have a better selection... and I can find Murphy's Irish Stout on tap in Shanghai (amazing)... but for the most part, I'd rather continue living in my "second tier" city, as I feel there's a lot more benefits to living here... and I'm always just a short train ride away from BJ, or a plane journey to Shanghai. Imo Beijing and Shanghai (unless you are making HUGE money) are cities best to visit... not live in.

    Hi I am big fan of your channels . Here are few ideas which I think can help you earn a lot more . 1. Selling merchandise through your channel. 2. Selling unique Chinese artifact to your users. It can include pottery, rural handicraft, rural paintings, rural clothes,tea something unique and represent China etc.(This idea is my fav and as you have seen people and culture you can really find out which artifact can be worth the money) 3. Providing consulting/advisory services to the tourist coming to china .Telling them what to do/where to stay/other stuff which can be helpful during travel.(This is the second best Idea I think .You can set up a small call/skype call and send kind of itinerary and help the tourists out) 4. Go to south Africa and make similar videos. Do the above work for South Africa too. 5. Make a series of positive things about china too. What the local government doing right. What common people are doing right . May be tie up with local vlogger. 6. If you know manufacturers etc or can tell people process of sourcing things from China it can be really helpful to you and others.

    Winston, nice video. I just returned from China yesterday. I spend my time mostly in Dongguan, and there is some Western influence there (similar to that in Shenzhen, where I also spend time), but nothing like you describe in your video. I was in China for Thanksgiving last year, and I was able to find a full turkey dinner (including the sides) in Dongguan. To your point, I haven't seen Japanese beers in the markets or many Western brands, except the fast food that proliferates most of Southern China (McDonalds, Starbucks, KFC, Pizza Hut, etc). I would also include Hong Kong in your list of "not really Chinese" cities, even though it was returned to China in 1997. Hong Kong still has plenty of the Western influence. There is a Harley Davidson dealer in Chai Wan on the Eastern side of the island, and you can find pretty much anything you want (food and drink wise) in Hong Kong. As always, thanks for the videos and commentary. I find your videos VERY helpful in explaining many of the things I experience during my travel in China. Cheers!

    That title tho...definitely gonna set a lot of trolls off XD 兄弟,你这个标题有点。。。贴吧上已经有人拿你的这个视频开喷了。。。Now, being Chinese myself, I can kinda see where some of them are coming from. I totally get what your saying, but the title itself is indeed a little bit...unfair, lets just put it that way. It's like having a Chinese guy visit the middle of Idaho. Guy fails to find an Asian grocery store there, goes back to KZread and makes a video claiming Idaho is NOT America. The dude for sure is gonna piss a lot of the folks off in Idaho. Maybe that's a bad analogy, lol.

  • @oremfrien

    @oremfrien

    It's just that your analogy is backwards. It would be: It's like having a Chinese guy visit the middle of Idaho. Guy fails to find an Asian grocery store there, goes back to KZread and makes a video claiming Idaho is the only true representative of America and places like San Francisco and New York where there are Chinatowns and Asian grocers are NOT America.

    @zhouyinpiao

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@oremfrien That's an even worse one...face palm. I don't mean it in that sense. Apparently you don't understand the nationalist trolls line of thinking. They will watch this video and go "who does this stupid foreigner think he is?! He's acting like China is supposed to make him happy and the whole reason China exists is to satisfy you foreigners. Anywhere you foreigners find uncomfortable is not considered true China. Really, if not being able to ride your Harley Davidson here makes you that upset why dont you just go back to where you came from??" (btw that obviously doesnt represent my opinion. The whole reason I came up with that analogy is to avoid having to put it so bluntly, ahhh) Also, you can say this video kind of implies that Bejing and Shanghai are somehow superior to the rest of China, which if you think about how small of a percentage those 2 cities represent in the entire Chinese population, its not surprising it can be offensive to most Chinese people. I know this because I'm from Shanghai. This is a sensitive topic even within China.

    I am from the U.S.. I lived in China for about ten years (1997, 1999, 2001, 2005-2007, 2009-2014). I lived in Beijing (1997 & 2001), visited Shanghai 1997 & 1999, and many other eastern cities during that time. At that time Western food was very hard to come by, and what passed for it was non edible. Most of my time I live in Chengdu and Chongqing (1999, 2005-2007, 2009-2014). My wife is from Sichuan. During my last three years in China (2012-2014), Chongqing was having more of a selection of Western food, but the price was way out of reach for most people. And the quality was not so good. No different from people who visit the US, and think that NY and LA represent all of America lol Edit: you basically said this in video lol but in the US, the larger cities are more strict on individual freedoms.

    TheCodFather oh that’s different from China. In China the larger city you are in, the more freedom you can get

    @@abcdncs242 That's not entirely true. It's the mid size cities that are more restricted on everything. Motorcycles are allowed in pretty much all small cities in China.

    The larger cities in the US are not stricter on freedoms unless that’s code for “gun control”, which is not a limit on individual freedom.

    @@JoeJoe-lq6bd Gun control is an individual freedom. Laws is bigger cities are typically more strict when it comes to vehicles as well (modifications or sound limitations etc). Limits or mandates regarding pets are more stringent. NYC trying to limit peoples ability to purchase sodas larger than 16 ounces is another example.

    Such a nonsense. What did you buy at a 7/11 in Bj, what you couldn't get elsewhere? Btw. Beijing is much more, than just the tourist places around Tiananmen. You did not even see 1% of the city, but already want to make a education video. Oh, there are HD Dealers in Tianjin, Chengdu, Qingdao and several other cities. Chinese culture is not to compare with US, so bikers generally are less. I guess, in Shenzhen, you live in a poor area. If you are troubled to get western things in Shenzhen, just ask someone who knows the city better than you do.And that there is a difference between big cities and small villages is not a Chinese phenomenon, that everywhere the same.

    Hey, great video again. I am married to an Asian too and live in Asia as well. Can you make a video about the cultural differences between westerners and (Chinese) Asians? It seems that we can't have the deep emotional conversations about life with our Asian wives. Different culture, different way of communicating, less intense, maybe a language/culture barrier? You probably do get what I want to say. How do you deal with that yourself and/or how does your friends deal with it?

    I love your videos because they show and describe the China that typical Western tourists are unaware of. How are you able to shoot the video while walking? Your video is relatively steady considering you are walking. While shooting a video while driving in my car, I mount my camcorder on a tripod on the passenger side of the car.

    El Chepacabra I am very curious how do you even balance the informations from them, on one hand, the China under CCP is the single most evil entity in the entire universe according to “China uncensored” , on the other hand, Winston’s China is much closer to reality. So I wonder how you balance these informations?

    El Chepacabra Huh. I have never done that , but I think it really depends though. I am sure there are cases where peoples are arrested by doing that and also cases where peoples are not arrested after doing that. And also you can’t just do that for the sake of doing it, you have to have good reasons. Personally I have nothing against Xi (at least for now), so why would I say anything bad about Xi? As for the CCP officers. It depends on who and how you do it.

    Winston, clip the mic onto your tie as it's positioning on your jacket in the video means the mic will move around and not provide consistent voice pick up (it was difficult to hear you at some points.)
