    Other than the sequencer, fx, all 3 LPF types and duophonic oscillators (I may be mistaken about that one), it's improving on the price significantly. The full sized key version of the Karp is like $1200+. And I don't recall if the Korg version had slider LEDs, for whatever that is worth.

    I'm kind of confused by the duophonic capability. Does it mean that you can play any 2 note chord? Or does it mean a fixed interval can be played with one note?

  • @spanishmackerel

    @spanishmackerel

    5 жыл бұрын

    I think you could play a 2-note chord if you hold down 2 keys at once; or you could play a fixed interval with one finger by de-tuning the oscillators with the tuning sliders, upper-left. I owned a Korg one for a couple years and this is what I seem to recall.

    @@rdean150 I doubt there are such things added as they would change the circuit, because you would need to convert digital MIDI data to analog via DACs, then introduce that in the circuit, add opamp to control mod depth, etc... These are straight up clones. You get note on, note off, pitch bend and modwheel (to substitute the horrible PPC pads). That's all. Maaaaaybe some parameters to control sequencer and FX.

    Is this the first time in history that two manufacturers are making the same named product at the same time? This applies to the Odyssey as the 101 has two different nomenclatures. How this has happened is a wonder of the complexities of legal statutes , but that notwithstanding, both the korg AND the Behringer flavours do the job with such finesse and class, it's literally a game of two halves. One has built in effects & a sequencer, the other has the rawer sound out of the gate.

    S R DHAIN Companies do it all the time now days. Take Mutable instruments products for instance, they are even being stolen by Arturia now! I’m not really sure where I stand on this now, I used to be very against it. Drug companies have always tried to do it.

    Nathan Shores good observation! I think I’m with you on that. Really, I suppose I’m more ambivalent toward the whole thing. As long as no one is stepping on patents and trademarks (which no one is) I don’t have a problem with it. Where I DO have a problem is like if a brand attempted to make the same product as another without making any distinction, even obscuring the fact that they’re not the original. I think the biggest thing that I am attempting to portray is that these aren’t exactly “clones” of the instruments; they’re really new things that begin with the essence of the old things.

As a musician , I've seen first hand how rights are split and assigned, with the ramifications of legal advice taken and considered , versus none to little advice taken , and so on. Et Tu Moot Boo? I guess the dark side has money. And we all want that. So I Can't blame you. Behringer has ALWAYS cheated and made copies of other people's work. And then sweat shopped it out the door in the cheapest manner possible. I personally own over 8 behringer products. Every one is either totally broken or f'd up. Have to say, though, they were all cheap (moneywise). The sad part is that some great companies may suffer for this. Just ask yourself these two questions. Did Behringer rack gear contribute to the MI market from 1990 to 2010, or did it sabotage premier great companies? And secondly, is there a single Behringer product you can name, that is considered a "vintage" piece that is worth more than $50 today?
