Behind they Keys w/ James Poyser - Episode 5: "Sometimes" (Bilal)
Ойын-сауық
To many James Poyser is the man behind the keyboard on “TheTonight Show” and the familiar face accompanying Jimmy Fallon’s “Thank You Notes,” but he is also a world renown music producer. Billboard recently called him one of the 10 “Producers Who Defined the Sound of 2000” and “a critical player in the neo-soul movement of the late ‘90s and 2000s.” Now James steps out from behind the piano and tells the stories of creating the music that shaped a generation. From Eryka Badu and Lauryn Hill to D’Angelo, Jill Scott, and Common, James had a hand in writing and playing on their everlasting hits. With help from guests, viewers will get an inside look at how these genius pieces of music were created from the man himself.

"Sometimes" is my favorite joint by Bilal. The truth and transparency of the lyrics along with the vocal arrangements are like no other.
Wonder where that Rob Glasper guy is now? Probably not up to much 😂

rob glasper needs to see this LOL
My mind is BLOWN! I remember hearing and listening to this song freshman year at Grambling. Words cannot describe how it feels to reflect on those times now knowing the background of it's creation. There really should be a movie about the neosoul movement in the late 90s and 2000s.
Theses stories are absolutely gold. I've always been into the "How" of a song and this is feeling my appetite. Thanks again James.
Amazing background story. One of my fav tracks of one of my fav albums (EVER). Vocal genius.
Maaaaaan to be a fly on the wall during these sessions! 🔥
