I think his voice is great too. I like when Mr. Burns says favorites like "Excellent.", "Release the hounds.", "Ahoy-hoy." (when answering the phone). Or when he's being over-the-top sarcastic. He's hilarious.

If people doubt the acting required to make the characters come alive in the show, they should really see these live readings. Here the talent is so obvious. No animation, no music, nothing. Just the actors, and they still manage to make it so honest and real.

Each character being an extension of the actor. MEL BLANC's son marveled at the depth of his father's physical and facial mannerisms, that he saw in person, and captured by the cartoonist. Same situation here, decades later. We FREAK and giggle with the glee of children when we see this grown-up , instead of the cartoon character! We realize that this person IS THE CHARACTER!

Lara No they didn't. Shearer said, "My God are you always on?" a lot angrier here than he did on the episode.

When Al Jean reads the stage direction it really makes you realize how incredible the writing really is... I thank God everyday for the Simpsons... The greatest show ever.... and now that they've been on TV for so long and broken all these record it just goes to show you.

If I close my eyes I can see exactly how the storyboards for this scene would go... awesome

"I think it distracts people from more important social issues." "My God! Are you always on?!" ahaha. classic lisa

This is why the simpsons sitcom animation is the best in the whole universe. Best voice-over actress who did the stunning job as they always does, funny and witty script/story/plot, simple but very creative, et cetera. The simpsons sitcom have a unique and interesting/intriguing style of conveying the story of it's own terms. I wish this sitcom keeps maintain it's position and never end just like other sitcom. This is simply the best U.S sitcom ever made. Thanks to matt groening who directed and created this whole episode (well it's just an assumption so don't judge) and the other department who brought simpsons family back to life. Thanks for the hard work and their devotion including lisa, mr.burns, homer, bart, smithers, marge, moe, dr.hibbert, maggie, ned and his wife, lovejoy and his wife, chief wiggum and his goons, the trio bullies, milhouse, and many other voice actress. Once again, thank you. This sitcom means a lot to me.

Proof that the Simpsons would still work with a laugh track. This take was also much funnier than the one they used in the show.

I'm tempted to say that's the greatest TV show ever. I remember it from the Tracy Ullman years. They've never lost their crazy appeal.

The fact that they could come up with such brilliant satire and present it in a way that was appealing to kids and adults was pretty phenomenal. The early years of this show were just legendary.

Yeardly is actually a pretty good actress and she's without a doubt very pretty and adorable. I love chicks with those adorable faces that match their even more adorable and distinct voices.... Fran, Yeardly and Jennifer Tilly as well. ❤️❤️❤️

OMG. Did you see that? I'm giving up my hopes in being a voice actor! I mean, they looked like they could've done that in their sleep! That was brilliant work, especially on Yeardley's part.

She does that voice so perfectly because it's her own voice. I remember them mentioning it when she was on Herman's Head. God, I'm old. I remember Herman's Head.

The audio and video is slightly out of sync, which is also a problem for many of these old KZread videos..

i love the end of maximum overdrive when yeardly goes "im gonna whoops my cookies" then fade out and you shook me all night long plays

I accutally remember I have watched that scene, they are really awesome voice-actors!

I remember seeing Yeardley in a Stephen King movie back in the eighties with Emilio Esteves, think it was called Wired.

As I watched it, I thought "amazing impersonation of Lisa and Mr Burns" , but of course they are the original voices.

16 years later and this is just now showing up as a suggested video?! I feel cheated for not seeing this 16 years ago

The episode they are reading from is "Fraudcast News" the 22nd and last episode of The Simpsons' fifteenth season. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on May 23, 2004

Now, I see how brazilian voiceover is one of the best in the world. Both Lisa and Mr burns brazilian voices sound exactly like the original.

I guess Mr. Burns didn't know that Lisa is good at playing instruments, like her saxophone. The voice actors who did them are very good, since they have great talent.

Delightful. Makes me think: it would be fantastic to see a video recording of just one table read of the show, clearly and smoothly recorded, with professional editing done to it. The only Simpsons live read video I've tried watching was dreadful-- basically someone holding her/his phone up at a big TV screen that seems about 20 feet away (and there were people milling around in the room, their silhouettes very distracting).

Just finished rewatching that episode. it's awesome x).

I second the people who enjoyed this more. I just love seeing actors and other TV/filmmakers at work (cameramen, editors, etc.)

How is this show still on the air? The SImpsons was an ancient TV show when this video was uploaded 13 years ago. Regardless, for me, Maximum Overdrive will always be the ultimate Yeardley Smith performance.

The cameraman is supposed to do that. It's up to the director to switch to a different camera.

I remember Yeardley from "Inside Herman's Head"...she was an actress on the show (Fox, early 90s when all of there shows had a green-ish tint color)

When I see the voice of Bart talking in Bart's voice, I just can't believe it.

The first time I saw Al Jean I was suprised. I knew what his voice sounded like from the DVD audio commentaries. So I always pictured a guy who looked like The Simpsons character Professor Frink.
