Pity all his films bomb harder than Hiroshima November 1945. Every attempt to put him as the leading man and carry a movie entirely on his own fails BIG STYLE. (Kingsman doesn't count, it's an ensemble action movie based on a comic book and Colin Firth is the big name and Kingsman 3 doesn't even have Egerton.)

Back in December 21st, 2016,when Sing premiered in theaters,it was family movie night for me & my family,as I was watching the film & sipping my soda,I first heard Taron Egerton's harmonious voice as Johnny,my fav character & soon enough,my heart was fluttering,my eyes sparkled, and I was falling in love with this amazing actor he was. Then,in December 22,2021,since my best friend got Covid in which we were supposed to see Sing 2 on premiere night,I was in tears because she couldn't make it,until my coach & my community friends decided they would tag along with me to see the movie. And believe me,when I said Sing 2 went even better as the first film, those two films were amazing. The first film was the beginning for my big dreams to be a singer, actress & play guitar while the second film taught me the power of music can overcome your grief & loss for someone you love most, especially big dreams, confidence, and the beginning of me being a dancer.

Oh WOW. Another Taron Egerton vehicle set to bomb big style and fail miserably to sell on his charisma, they're trying to make him a leading man, not happening - no one wants to see a Taron Egerton film, he's not a star, not a lead give it up. Still, they could do a Captain Marvel, buy out all the cinemas and pretend they're real sales. LOLZ

People like you hold Taron Egerton to such ridiculous standards. His career has been comparatively new compared to many other actors’ before they (as he has) headline a franchise that’s earned 500+ mil. worldwide with two films. Stars like Chris Pine, Margot Robbie, Lily James, and Chris Hemsworth had to feature in lower-profile television shows and less successful films before breaking through, and even then they struggle. Margot Robbie, around the same time as the commercially successful “Suicide Squad” and the critically acclaimed “I, Tonya,” was the lead star of “Terminal” - a recent flop. Again, people are so ludicrously harsh on an actor who is, compared to the majority of the other actors in his circles, very much a newbie. He’s accomplished a lot, and it’s really not as though “Rocketman” is banking on his name alone. The hype is definitely mostly from the box-office figures of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the fact that, you know, the central character is Elton John.

@@janieharana4769 People like me? Darling, his career is not 'comparatively' new (comparatively, special pleading for mediocrity). He's been around for six years, he's thirty, he's been given opportunities at an early stage few actors ever get, because they thought he may be a leading man. He's NOT, his name alone cannot sell a film. Nor will it ever. Robin Hood was a bloodbath, RocketMan etc were all cast around the same time - he's a workmanlike good character actor - he's no Hemsworth or Robbie who did not have the advantage of starting out in a major media center, London, and going to RADA which is a fast track system - your comparison is asinine and invidious, moreover Robbie and Hemsworth LOOk like leading stars, they're fuckable, Egerton is squat, pugnacious looking, balding and a character actor with a string of flops under his belt whenever they've tried to sell a film on his name alone. And people like you, my dear, are deluded.
