In the 90’s, we did a tour of the Cadbury factory in Tasmania. My 4 yr old son had an Ernie doll (from Sesame Street) who he had to bring with him but wasn’t allowed to do the tour. The lovely ladies at the front offered to keep Ernie safe, and at the end of the tour when we went to get Ernie back, he had little chocolate bars taped all over him. It was so kind of the staff to do that, and something that he still remembers to this day. It was a great tour too! Ate ourselves sick.

I live in Hobart where the factory is in Tasmania. They stopped having tours about 20 yrs ago. I have not been to it. But have been to the one that they had in Dunedin NZ. Until I became vegan about a decade ago, Cadbury was the inly choc I liked. Not even the expensive ones pleased me as much. But I think the taste has gone off since the Yanks took over. But now that I know they have reduced their staff so much I wouldn’t eat it anyway…plus so much sugar.

I was a child that loved chocolate but I like many types mostly Belgium the best mixed with nougat and honey flavours and these days I like kinder better and as a child sweets would make me sick. the sugar effects immune cells and supresses them from working and that is why some kids will vomit from over eating too sweeter items of confectionary and I was one of those kids, caramels and sarsaparilla etc. would make me very sick.

I’m a British/Aussie living in the US, and I would love to know why Cadbury chocolate in America is vastly inferior to its foreign equivalents. My theory is that Americans are already used to inferior chocolate (Hersheys), so Cadbury/Nestles saw an opportunity to save some money. Americans, before you jump in defense, taste the Australian or British equivalent.

Agreed - and it's the same here in southeast Asia, the taste is nowhere near the same as in the UK. I have heard that it's to do with a preservative they put in to help stop it melting at a lower temperature. But I fear it's got more to do with the gross American corporation who took over who don't give a damn about what made Cadbury's special in the first place.

In fairness to the marketing team not everybody realises yet that there is more to avoiding sugar than simply losing weight, so I guess it adds appeal.

Here in Canada, Cadbury was once the chocolate everyone wanted but that was long ago. Canadian Cadbury companies changed their formulas & began making one of the cheapest quality chocolate around. Cadbury use to make a large assortment of candy bars & chocolate gifts sets of the like I hadn't seen in more than 30 years. I rarely buy Chocolate now because of this. I am unsure why Cadbury doesn't enforce their franchises quality assurance & Ingredients that cannot be altered when it comes to exports, it pisses me off when corporations take cheap lousy shortcuts to sell more & make profits when this isn't a fact at all people just stop buying it like me & my Family. To import the British fav it would cost me an arm & a leg in shipping costs & to me its just not worth it when Cadbury should be enforcing their quality & ingredients for their famed top quality chocolate which now it is NOT ! If Cadbury is readying this PLEASE make change to your franchise policies & Enforce the quality that it is in Britain so Canadians can once enjoy their once favourite candy by Cadbury ! It Probably wont happen, but one can hope :D I miss my love sessions with a Cadbury cream egg :P~~

Agree. As a NZer our whanau (family) does not eat Cadbury's for all these reasons.Cheaper vegetable oils, palm oil for example. Auckland Zoo requested Cadbury's to remove palm oil as palm oil trees are causing deforestation, habitat loss and climate change. However, the New Zealand factory is now closed, and as you say, cheaper ingredients are used, changes in recipes mean it is not the same. I hope all Franchises have removed palm oil and its derivatives from Cadbury products. Whittakers is better quality, taste and trusted more.

The fact that the government wants to regulate the amount of sugar in chocolate is just ridiculous and honestly, a micromanaging way of controlling what you can and cannot do. It's chocolate, you're not eating it to be healthy, you're eating it to give you a moment of pleasure in an otherwise rather crummy world. Inform people of how much sugar is in it yes, give them a lower sugar option and keep the original definitely. But don't sit there and tell people that they can't have it if that's what they want.

I visited the Cadbury's factory, Bournville, in 1996, on a road trip around Scotland, with my granddaughter. We visited the factory at the beginning of our trip, bought a lot of chocolate, gifts for family and friends in Canada. We visited it at the end of our trip because we had eaten all the gift chocolate and needed to replenish the supply before flying back to Canada. I've been hooked on Cadbury's my whole life, as a connection to my birth country (England). However, I have noticed a significant difference in taste between Cadbury's made in England compared to Cadbury's made in North America. My own personal hypothesis is: Certain breeds of cows free grazing in British fields, eating British grass give a better quality of milk vs north american cows living and breathing a very different environment and eating who knows what. A happy, contented cow gives tasty milk.

How about freezing one half then pop them out one at a time and lay them on the other half. As far as putting the White Creme Eggs in stores also dumb to have a guy go to stores one egg at a time. Why not do it at the plant? When they are filling boxes with eggs just randomly toss one ion with the others as they are being packaged. Simple.

I was in hospital for 17days and came home with a pick line and on IV antibiotics for a additional 10 days. All of those antibiotics killed my stomach and appetite. I lost 45pounds in 6weeks. My blood sugar levels are awesome. I completely gave up sugar . While in the hospital. I am slowly feeling better. I am told it take up to a full year to feel 100% after having Sepsis. I bought one this past Easter. Hadn't had one since my last Easter basket I would get from the bunny at Easter. I anticipated the egg while at work. I brought it in and placed it at my workstation and admired the shiny paper and would get a sniff here and there. The clock would not move! An 8-hour day felt like 16! Finally!! Time to go home. I rushed into the shower and put on my fuzzy pajama's. Opened the egg and admired its two pieces welded together. A really big sniff this time and took the first bite. I contemplated: Do I chew it or allow it to melt? My brain took over and I started chomping the bite inside my mouth and I noticed crystal like tiny pebbles. Hmmm, this is not what I remember. The taste of the chocolate was good but these tiny crystals== what are they?? I swallowed and looked around the egg. Nothing seemed off so I go in for yet another bite and this time I get more of the gooey center. Again, more crystals! I put the egg down and began to get depressed. I think it was an older egg. An egg that maybe sat at their warehouse for months on end for the next years busy season. I threw the rest away and that was the anticlimactic tale of my anticipated Cadbury Creme egg experience.
