I have the 50th anniversary special edition DVD of the film that comes with plenty of extras, but nothing like this behind-the-scenes montage of shots. It is nice to see the cast chatting, joking, and relaxing informally. It makes them look like what they were: just normal people doing their job.

Today there is nothing left of the old "home set" for the picture "Giant." A few years ago a few old timbers that was part of the old prop that still stood. If anyone is interested in visiting that old film site it is near Marfa, Texas way out in the boonies on a private ranch. Nothing to see anymore. But would be a good idea to hang around outside Marfa in the evening hours to watch for the famous "Marfa Lights." There is parking available.

I'm a bit confused as to wether that is Jimmy sat with the cast or not. The guy is wearing a Pink shirt. In a documentary on the end of the Giant DVD Jane Withers mentions Jimmy had a Pink shirt he would never take off she had to prize from him to launder it. She then said he gave it to her to look after til he came back from the race, which sadly he never did.

Beginning at around 1:00 the man in the white Stetson, & brown shirt is NOT JAMES DEAN ! If U look closely at the profile, especially when you zoom in you know for sure. Thought it might be Earl Holliman, who is one of the last surviving stars of the film, he'll be 90 next Sept. Carroll Baker & Elsa Cardenas,( she played Dennis Hoppers wife ) are also still alive.

@John Wright Would have been neat if they had actually built the mansion.... You know, later in the film, during the party by the new pool, a large painting of the house appeared in the background. That could have been better. Yet the film has so much flavor and Americana: it would have been nice if a 'real' Giant house actually exists. For example, the (now) famous home in Texas used in the _Dallas_ title montage.

The film was shot in 1955 and was released in 1956. But in the airport scene, James Dean is mounted on a 1955 Lincoln, and Carroll Baker in a 1956 Lincoln. How is this possible? Remember that Jimmy died in 1955.

Jane tells the story of how Jimmy would wear that.Pink Shirt over & over; until Dean finally let her wash it. She even brought it on Larry's show, & how much it meant to her. She said, "I LOVED THAT BOY. " Unfortunately, utube had to take the post of Larry's show down for copyright infringement.

Giant, based on Edna Ferber's novel, starts out in Texas during the early 1920s. What opens as an ode to the Lone Star state quickly turns into a indictment of an overbearing, racist culture.
