BEHIND THE SCENES 1000 NM OFFSHORE COMMENTARY Atlantic Ocean sailing
sending out another commentary of our thoughts of how it is REALLY like to be out on the sea in our tiny little sailboat, for over 1000 nautical miles in the Atlantic Ocean. Sharing things with you that you didn't see in the videos. What the hell were we thinking and answering some of YOUR questions. Kinda of a visual podcast.

Electronic dust😂We always tell people the reason we started a YT channel is because of you two! We remember you asking what we were filming for if we weren't going to do anything with all the footage. THANK YOU! Now we have an awesome video journal to look back on. The dolphin/sunset footage is absolutely incredible. Miss your faces!😘😘

More lights the better at open sea… regardless of the rule. Safer. It’s the way.
WOW! You both continue to WOW me. I am forever grateful that you document your journey and share it with me. ahhhh I mean all of us. 🤪 But you know this momma sits with dogs in her lap, and either coffee or popcorn depending on the time of day.... and we just listen and watch you doing real life together on the water. I can't even tell you how many times I've viewed each video. ❤ I sure do miss you and pray for you often. I miss and love you both!

Beau and Brandy this was one of your best videos to date I believe. I especially like when you guys were near Oregon Inlet, I have my camper permanently set up in Kill Devil Hills and I spend a lot of time at Oregon Inlet.as always thanks for sharing your adventures.

I look forward to learning about/seeing your experiences with a wind vane! I realize there may be cost/availability issues, but it is consistent with sailing to reduce your carbon “footprint”. Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 John Ken
Thank you for showing your compilation videos, in addition to your normal weekly video. I really enjoyed the experience and explanation of everything. HAPPY NEW YEAR. Love spending part of my Sunday with the crew of SV Cerrsha - Brandy & Beau - Godspeed. 💙🇺🇸💚👍😇

We are also thinking of getting the bifacial panels. We have an arch on the back so thinking we would surely benefit from them
You should have done it before the innovation of gps navionics and electronic aids with only paper charts sextants hand held magnetic compass aback. In the day I used a lead line for depth sound er

LOVE this LF content. If you really wanna get your channel to 100K quick, break these up into shorts and then link to the episodes you refer to in the description and card/end screens to help drive viewing time. A friendly tip from your neighborhood Marketing MBA dude 🙂 Aside from the Zatara and Tula crew, you're the only other channel I subscribe, Like, and comment to! You two are definitely humans I could hang with. I typically like dogs more than people 😁

Love my Spinlock pdf. Bought it for a Bermuda delivery in 2002, I am looking to replace it before next season, probably another Spinlock, very comfortable. More comfortable a vest is, more often you will wear it. 😊

Happy new year guys. I wanted to celebrate my birthday on SV Hirvi today but it didn’t happen (again) maybe next year. Work in progress never ends. Brandy, did you make any Lakerda yet? Much love from AZ. And yayyyy my Lakerda (pickled bonito) recipe got a mention.

@@BeauAndBrandy Tonight’s celebratory dinner includes stir fried seafood medley, shrimp scallops calamari octopus mussels, proper hand rolled stuffed grape leaves, pilaki (sort of cold bean salad in olive oil), feta cheese, cantaloupe and the drink of choice is Raki (similar but definitely not Ouzo). You’ll never know how hard it is for a Mediterranean sailor to live in Arizona.
Question??? Why doesn't anyone have a fish finder on board. They have visual sonar, depth finder, fish locator and description of the fish, current speed, and other things. Just wanted to know if you know.
@BeauAndBrandy
5 ай бұрын
Good question. We have a depth sounder, it can give us a speed through the water as well. So technically we could tell the current speed. We have a couple of friends that have fish finders.
Beau did you mean the smoggies?
Hi Beau & Brandy, I've binged watch a lot of your episodes and I love them all and after watching is one I have a question. So I plan to buy a sailboat up in Myrtle Beach and take it up to see Virginia Beach for the first time then go back down to Florida. I'm really nervous about the ICW because I've never been on it so I thought maybe just hug the coastline up with land in sight and go up but if I go that route are there any places that you know of to anchor on the way so I won't have to travel at night?
@BeauAndBrandy
Ай бұрын
If you want to sleep, you will want to take the ICW. Depending on your draft and air height it should be an easy task. take it nice and slow.

I like learning about LuckGrib and Iridium GO for weather files. Do you use an iPad or just iPhones?
@BeauAndBrandy

we now finally have an ipad that we JUST got thanks to our patrons Chris and Melissa. but up till then we have used my iphone 8s the entire 5 years of sailing.
I noticed on your video after crossing to the east side of Florida and again on the last video, the drone shots around the bridges. You might want to read up on the FAA regs for flying drones in the USA. They are noticing more KZread videos with illegal drone flying. With more people flying them, the problem has gotten bigger. There are some pretty stiff fines (posting on/for KZread is sometimes considered Commercial flying- fine of 32K/incident up to 250K and up to 3 years prison time) now along with confiscation of the drone. I really enjoy your videos and your style of story telling.

I forgot about the rigging issue. If the rest of the rigging looks good and only two wires broken, I don't think it was poor quality of the wire material itself. That would point to a manufacturing defect. When the wires are braided each machine must be in equal tension. If one machine is a bit tighter than the others that wire will be shorter and carry a bigger load than the others. When it fails, the next tightest wire will have its load increased until it fails. Domino effect. That wire should last longer than 5 years even that environment. Your rig is not that big and powerful. Stuff happens. This is why I prefer wire over Dynema or rod rigging. You would have been dis masted with those. No warning strand to let you know whats coming.

How often are you on a collision course with a ship at night ?
@BeauAndBrandy
5 ай бұрын
Ooh nice question. It’s very rare, but the alarm goes off once in a blue moon. Coming out of Guatemala a ship came pretty darn close, enough to call him and have him change course. We never assume they see us.
