Actually without her realizing it, she definitely fulfilled the theme bc the Gilded Age was about gaudy excess, opulence, and extravagance. Even her silhouette was reminiscent of the fashion towards the end of the era, which removed the bustles and poufy sleeves. Marie Antoinette belonged to the Rococo Era which was a completely different era that existed a century before the Gilded Age. After Rococo came Neoclassicism, these 2 eras often get confused with the Gilded Age and idk why, their fashion is completely different.

I wish there were videos like this for every dress! these pieces arent just clothes- they are art. the materials, the shapes, and the compositional choices of each garment mean something and it all makes sense when we are given a peak into the thought process behind the choices. even with outfits that people said "didnt fit the theme"- im sure if we had a close look into how the garment was crafted, we would be able to see its relation to the theme and how it abstracts it/ is a certain take on the theme!
