Behind Bars Season 3 - Episode 2: Urso Branco, Brazil | 4K Prison Documentary
Behind Bars - Antananarivo Prison, Madagascar: • Behind Bars: The World...
The pre-trial prison Urso Branco is one of the worst jails in all of Brazil. Riots have been taking place here almost every year since 2002. Gangs battling for control of the drug business are also fighting it out behind bars. They use every opportunity to eliminate rival gang members. In the past 20 years, more than 100 people have died in riots behind the walls of Urso Branco. A sad record for Brazil.
The situation in Urso Branco remains a powder keg, despite the government tightening security in recent years. Sanitary conditions are catastrophic; cells are desperately overcrowded. The guards are heavily armed and always carry loaded weapons. Each rifle's barrel contain special anti-riot ammunition made of rubber. The other cartridges are live ammunition. This is the only way they can keep the situation under control. Even though the guards face the constant risk of attack. To this place, the twenty-eight-year-old Naum is being brought, having been arrested by the police when trying to rob a bar.
In Urso Branco he has to wait for the decision from the judge. The decision, if he will stay in jail for the next 15 years or if he will see his family soon again. Naum shares the cell with 19 other inmates - 19 men who are in custody here for robbery, murder, rape and drug trafficking.
Inside is cramped and the sanitary facilities are catastrophic. As the new guy, Naum is at the bottom of the pecking order. What's worse is that the situation behind bars can escalate at any time.

My man went from "I didn't do anything!" To "well the gun was fake and the bar owner is an illegal so I don't think he'll testify" real quick
@aryaalessia4492
Ай бұрын
NOTICE how he NEVER ONCE admits to doing anything wrong. He targeted the bar owner specifically because he thought he would never testify either... Also somehow trying the brain gymnastics like "oh but ofc he believes him when he says he got robbed, you'd probably also believe me more if I told you I was robbed" The typical mind of a Narcissist SuperVictim. It's always everybody elses fault. He just has some drug issues. There is not issues of him not thinking about how he is having a wife back home and a child on the way. Trying to rob the weakest of the weak to get the next fix, is the other persons fault for him now being in prison.
While I have little sympathy for most of these inmates, I feel bad for the few that actually are innocent. 😟 Some people truly are wrongly arrested/convicted and that’s the scary part.

I worked as a correctional officer in Illinois State Prison. No prison is enjoyable, but these are God-Awful. I almost got locked up in Cancun when the airport authorities found ammo in my luggage that i didn't know was there. It was only a few rounds, but they don't care. I was sweating a lot more bullets than they found in my luggage, that's for sure. Luckily, the judge acknowledged that it was an accident, not a smuggling attempt, and let me go.

15:40 This guy is very manipulative. If you watch his eyes he is clearly fishing for sympathy and trying to create a teary eyed look. As a recovering addict (12 years sober), I've known a lot of people like him. They are constantly looking for a sympathetic ear in order to gain anything they can from an ignorant mark. Also, at around 26:50 you can see his sorrow completely dissolve. Then, at 27:25 he's back on the camera trying to find that sympathy again. The man is a liar and very transparent.
Love these documentaries, they make me appreciate life.
Aziz, that is a scary person. Can't believe any sane person would give him a cellmate.
I don’t think violence is a strong enough word to describe what goes on in this prison. The things they do to each other in there are horrific and unimaginable…

I appreciate these documentaries. These remind me that life can be so much worse and there are worse things than death. I feel bad they dont have at least running water but im sure they knew about how the conditions of these prisons beforehand.

I appreciate the fact that 10 years ago, you would have had to subscribe to yet another cable channel to get at least on some level of the same quality as these totally free documentaries. And it would've been filled with those annoying flashy cuts and stock sound effects.
Another great prison documentary. Can't wait for the next one

That's great. That is the whole reason for making these mind control documentaries. It makes the free range slave happier with the few crumbs he/she has. You are landless which means you cannot grow your own food therefore you have to get a souless job just to pay for a roof over your head and put food on the table. These documentaries are fantastic at making landless peasants happy with their lot in life. I am greatful for your feedback. I will report back to the Pope and the Queen that they are having the desired effect.
