    FCPX made me fall in love with editing again after Premiere Pro killed it for me. I tried Davinci but it is very hard to overcome the absence of magnetic timeline and skimming -- these are essentials for me.

    Great video. Despite using FCPX for over 15 years, I still watch stuff like this and get helpful hints (usually). Along with A and P, T is hugely helpful to me. You can move a clip within it's 'window', and holding the tilde key will isolate the edit from any connected clips. Keep up the great work.

PS Glad that you mentioned the use of the Grave key (which some incorrectly refer to as the Tilde key - although they are on the same keyboard key).

    Excellent content, concisely presented with superb production quality. Showing the actual keystroke buttons was very helpful. One suggestion - please remove the background music when you are speaking. I occasionally struggled to discern your words over the music. You are quite articulate with a pleasant soft-spoken voice. Please don't mask that with extra sound. 😀

    Wow! While I’m just a beginner indeed, thankfully from your presentation I do now see where you cut and paste easily you also maybe got a clear advantage over other more tedious and the traditional video editing programs. Those are likely extremely time consuming when compared to the methods you’ve demonstrated by your video and specifically Apple’s Final Cut Pro. Although Da Vinci Resolve 18.5 from Blackmagic Design apparently allows a cut and paste here or there, it seems to offer its cut page -more likely than not- copied directly from Apple. But, anyway it’s entirely free to the consumer needing to edit videos from his or her relatively small budget. If really you love to use iterations just to get across a point, you may eventually find out with me maybe a lot like you I’m in love with it now too! (Smile!)

    Brilliantly explained Tamara. ⭐ Not sure I get the difference between a storyline and a compound though. They both seem to have the same features.

  • @TamaraGabrielUK

    @TamaraGabrielUK

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching. WIth a compound clip once you've put all those clips in a wrapper, because you have to then go into the compound clip to edit any of the clips, it doesn't make it easy to match timings of clips or transitions or effects with what's on the primary storyline, whereas with a storyline, you've grouped a bunch of clips like you would with a compound clip, but those clips are easier to edit along with the primary storyline because they're just there, they're not nested. (No idea if that made any sense, haha, but hopefully it kinda did)

    I signed up for a 30-day free trial of FCP several years ago but it didn’t work out for me. I’ve been using the free version of DaVinci Resolve 18 for as many years. I watched this video to see if I might pick up on something I can use in DR. 💜

    Hey great video! I was wondering if FCPX allows you to save assets into the program. A big problem for me is how long it takes to edit videos because I essentially am starting from scratch with every new project.
