Thank you for the video, my bettas absolutely LOVE frozen food now! I was feeding them freeze dried bloodworms but they weren’t as interested, and I really wanted to add more nutrient food into their diet. This is perfect, they went crazy today and even my neon and ember tetras were eating some too, which I didn’t expect! Thank you for the advice!

My fish love the frozen foods!!
Thank you
I may sound geeky right now, but I make my own frozen brine shrimp (both baby brine and adult brine). What I do is when I need to make frozen rather than feed live, I hatch out the shrimp in a tank rather than in a jug such as the Ziss. I start with adult brine, by using a sieve with larger holes. This allows for the adult shrimp to get extracted without the babies. I then mix that in with a tiny bit of tap water, and place the mix into silicone Ice cube trays. I freeze them, then put them all into one ziploc bag. I then do the same process with a sieve with smaller holes, to get the baby brine. I don't harvest all the baby brine, so that some can actually grow up and reproduce. This way I don't have to buy eggs all the time. I still buy other frozen foods, but make my own brine shrimp, and occasionally Daphnia, if I have more reproducing than I can feed to my tanks.

I've been feeding bloodworms to my fish over 10 years everyday now I have no illness or sickness at all
I feed a combination of frozen Artemia, Daphnia, Red and white mosquito larvae and Krill both in my community tanks and sparingly in my Shrimp tanks. I defrost in a cup and just pour in. I do however turn off filtration or reduce flow so my bottom-feeding species can get some.

Fish Kid Jake Thanks for joining! Saw you hanging out in the Co Op stream.
I would say 1 cube of frozen food could probably feed 15 fully grown Corys or Platys or Tiger Barbs or Zebra Danios or like Cardinal Tetras and could probably feed 25-30 smaller like Guppy or Neon Tetra sized fish. If you have a small community tank of like 6 platys and 6 danios and 6 corys one cube will be fine, maybe even a little too much if fed all at once defrosted but if you put it in frozen they'll eat it slowly as it defrosts and it'll be cleaner.

@celticbarry9877

@@tadadw not a lot, 1 cube could probably feed 10 bettas so about 1/10th of the cube. If you leave it at room temperature for like 30 minutes you will be able to use tweezers or something to pick a bit out and then keep it in the fridge or re-freeze it.I'd pick a little bit out at a time and feed it slowly and watch it eat until you see it getting a little fat then stop.
@celticbarry9877

@@tadadw I also googled there and seen someone say you can put the cubes into a ziplock bag and smash them up while still frozen then just pick off little pieces and keep the rest in the freezer. That seems a good idea a piece about the size of a pea or piece of corn or tic-tac would feed 1 fish.

I do feed a blended diet to all my community nano tanks, Bettas being the star. They love the brine shrimp and blood worms. Like you I don't feed the blood worms too often...and I now probably need to chop them up a bit for the smaller fish. I have neons, cardinals, long fin Danios, a few guppies, rummy nose, mountain minnows, rasboras, neocardia shrimp and mystery snails. I now also feed the baby brine for the tinier mouthed fish. I don't think I have room to hatch baby brine...although I'd love to. Thank you for this video..your absolutely right...there hasn't been an instruction video on this that I could find either...well done!!

Thank you! I will have to do a remake in the future to step up the quality
The way I do it is I use a small container and I and I get some water straight from the tank and I drop the cube into the water and it Defrosts In minutes.
I feed frozen Mysis shrimp, but I clean the prepackaged cubes a little better so that dirty frozen water they come in doesn't go in my reef tank. I take small container and drop a cube in with tap water and let it thaw out. Then I take a white small fish net and pour it into the net. Then run tap water thru the net over the food to clean it a little bit more. Low flow from the sink or they will shoot out making a mess. Then fill the small container up with aquarium water and flip the net with the contents back into the container and serve with a spot feeder.
I wanted to see the fish eat the frozen food and what it look like when it went in the aquarium. I was kind of disappointed. But I like the video anyway. Good job.
How long can uneaten frozen food stay in a small tank for? Just fed frozen cyclopse the first time and used too much. I'll do a waterchange anyway today, but just wondering. Next time i use half a cube.
I feed frozen foods. I just got frozen daphnia and have frozen mysitis shrimp. Also feed live brine shrimp along with freeze dried bloodworm/daphnia mixture through a pepper grinder
I love your videos , just wondering so basically they can still eat even when the food is basically liquid? I appreciate if you can answer I just bought the food and I found it very interesting

Baby brine shrimp would be great for your betta and danios. Even regular frozen brine shrimp would be good for those smaller fish. For your Oscar and African cichlids I would look at frozen mysis shrimp as they are a larger shrimp that is frozen.

If you can find a way to cut the cube in half while still frozen and not waste it that would be what I would recommend.
A variety diet is SO IMPORTANT to fish health.
I cut the cube in 3 parts for my 12 Ember tetras since they’re so small and they always end up leaving a little bit left.

Frozen foods can have more a nutritional value for fish if mixed in with other foods such as pellets on a feeding routine. Also because the food is more "natural" you can see some fish that are picky actually eat because it is more consistent to what they would actually eat. Blood worms are crack for fish, the smell and flavor can trigger a feeding response from fish. Things like frozen daphnia and cyclops is a great food for smaller fish and fry. Frozen food can also be packed with protein to help fish grow.
