Tried weekly, cousin and techo A6 this yr first time user. Loved them all but I reeeeeally wish Hobo offered the A6 with the vertical weeks almost like a mini cousin. Perfection (for me anyway!). So, a cousin was ordered for 2024 but I so love the A6 size 😢

I started with the cousin for the first time this year and love it. I 100% have blank pages and weeks but I had to let go of the idea that every day and week needed to be completed. I have enough room to fill up the pages I want, use the weeklies as I need and have the monthlies as a good over view. For 2024 I ordered the botanical HON cousin and botanical weeks 😍. The cousin I plan to use as my catch all planner, memory keeper, ephemera and picture collector. And the weeks I will use for work so it’s all in one spot. They were just too beautiful to not get and I love the idea of them matching.

You can use a cover on cover if it's just for protecting the planner. Some can be moved from the old planner to the new one (I do this a lot), so there's no need to waste money in buying everything from the scratch every year, and it's much lighter and sleek. 😃🌻

I've been hearing about and seeing Hobonichi planners on other content creators' socials, youtube, etc. for literally YEARS. This is the BEST explanation and "show and tell" I've ever seen. I've never really wanted to spend the money on one given they are rather pricey compared to other planners/systems, especially if I wasn't entirely positive about what I'd be getting and if it would be something I would actually use. Your video is a great resource for helping me decide. Thank you so much!

I will always be thankful to hobonichi for introducing me to tomoe river paper. But now that I’ve used the a6 and weeks for about 3 years now, I think I prefer the layouts of sterling ink and I love how minimalist it is. Better yet, I bought her planner stickers and used it in the passport notebooks and added a spread in between weeks for a weekly recap. I only did it by experiment because I missed the preordering for the 2024 and wanted to try it out if it would work for me. I love it so far. But yeah, I am still mourning the old tomoe river paper being discontinued and the sanzen is a bit more absorbent than the old one. Having said all of this, I think the HB weeks is the best.

This video made me realize how interesting it would be to use the weeklies for personal life and maybe the daily pages for work in order to have everything in one book 🤔 Also interesting thing in the weeks, I use the left side page layout to just write about what I I do in a day and I use the right side memo page to plan tasks for the week and the days. I find the graph paper works better with my brain for tasks. Great considerations on all!

Ths was a good introduction. Have seen too many people showing all the bells and whistles and not showing the basics of what yuu actually get. Ive seen people do watercolor on the paper and colored pencils and stickers and all sorts of visuals. Seing the suze comparison was good too. I used to use Day-Timers from the 80's in a smaller suze i carried everywhere. But each month was a booklet i put into my cover. I carried one or two months at a time and that kept it light. Two page soread per day In 2020 i tried to bullet journal and realized i like to write a lot without being limited in how much space i could write in. I did enjoy having one book i grabbed every day. But i didn't like having to fill out the dates myself it was so much time.

the weeks is definitely my favorite planner BY FAR. i love the minimal, versatile layout and the portability. the covers are all so beautiful and already part of the book so you don't have to worry about getting another cover and I love how they look on a shelf after the year is over. you can easily do dailies in the notes pages, and is enough space for those with smaller handwriting and/or not as many daily specifics. i have also done weekly journaling in the weeks instead of using it as a planner and it worked out beautifully as well. you can do simple pen layouts or you can go all out with stickers and deco. it's super easy to fill empty pages if you hate having blanks. i don't mind the cream colors, Japanese (language doesn't matter), or quotes at all. and it is one of the cheaper planners starting at $17 without shipping or $28 from US resellers. i would love if the a6 day free had vertical weekly included though.

I bought a 2023 weeks during Prime Days to try it out and still haven't landed on exactly how to make it work best for me. Really easy to carry around though. Looked at the A6 and couldn't see how it would give me enough space, having been spoiled by the roominess of the Cousin. So many choices!

started with HObonichi Cousin. 2 years, Cousin Avec (A5 always) since then. EVERYTHING goes in there, and I carry it with me everywhere. I use every single page and document my (and my family's) life in there.

This is my first year NOT getting a cousin. It’s too big and I put a lot of pressure on myself to use the daily’s and just don’t very often. I’m in a common planner b6 and weeks for personal and original techo for work in 2024! 🎉

I already placed my order, but still had to watch! 2023 was my first year with HB; I chose a Weeks mega as my wellness planner. The monthly pages are where I record my “daily vitals” such as weight and BP, plus color dots using a ZIG marker to indicate closing my Apple Watch rings. On the weeklies, I memory keep on the left page and put habit trackers, to-do’s, and short notes on the right side. I put the clear adhesive pocket on one side of my pencil board, and tuck a few 3x5 cards in it, including one that is a template for recurring trackers and tasks. I use a cover-on- cover, and one of my favorite tricks is to put a couple of clear Velcro dots on the back cover that match up to one placed on the page keeper tab. I can then use the page keeper to keep my multi-pen in place against the long edge of the book - while the Velcro keeps the cover closed. (The actual pen loop is pretty worthless.)

I haven’t bought a hobonichi yet because I can’t decide between the A6 and the weeks. Another year has gone by and I think 2024 will finally be the year I dive in and just try one. I’m leaning toward the techo so I can combine as a commonplace/journal. Plus I really like my weekly landscape type planners as a desktop item.

I tried to cousin for two years (my first Hobonichi in 2021 and this year) and I like it very much but I agree with you the smaller planters feel a lot more natural. I have been using a weeks now for a few weeks and I really like it. This is my first time in a weeks and I'm really hoping it will work even though it's much smaller, but even if it doesn't work out, I think I'm gonna get in A6 next year instead of a cousin, but hopefully the weeks will be large enough and I'll order that for next year instead.

2024 will be my first time with a Hobonichi after this being the first year I used any planner at all, in the form of a bullet journal. I found I really like structured, predictable, minimalist spreads so I wasn’t benefitting much from the flexibility of bullet journaling. I went with the giant Cousin because I’ve come to rely heavily on a weekly layout and the Weeks seemed too cramped. Fingers crossed the giant Cousin doesn’t end up being a wasteland of empty space! 😅

Part of the appeal for the cousin for me is that I have very large handwriting so it actually fits all my stuff based on my handwriting haha. that said I'm going with the hon this year (a5 and a6) I don't know anyone that has used the hon so I'm excited to give it a go lol I got the cat print haha

I've been using the Day Free as my journal. I started with the original but found the daily pages limited my trail of thought when journaling. As for my day-to-day planning, I would love the Weeks but I hate the layout. If Hobonichi has a similar planner to Kokuyo Jibun Techo, I would not hesitate to get that in a heartbeat 🥺

Thanks for your video! Very well done and informative video! I honestly don’t know why everyone thinks the Hobonichi Cousin is so big and heavy, though…I can easily bring it with me to work in my purse. I think the original is tiny. But maybe that’s just me, because literally everyone says the Cousin is big. I guess I’m just weird! 😂😅

I've been addicted to Hobonichi planners for the past four years. The Cousin is my main planner for everyday (work and personal). The weeks is for my food log, grocery lists and expenses. One techo is for my work metrics and meeting notes, another techo is for exercise/workouts, and the A6 planner is my journal. Obviously, I'm a fan.

I prefer to weekly plan in a dashboard layout, currently I am using a bullet journal as a dashboard planner. A day free A5 is definitely the one I want to try out.

This is the first year (2023) using Hobonichi planners. I got A5 Avec (daily pages used for class notes) and then replaced it with A5 Cousin (didn't like splitting up my year and chunking wasn't an issue like I thought it might be). I also have the A6 Original and a Weeks, both of which I use casually. I recently graduated so university is now over. I have no need for large daily pages of the A5 Cousin. For 2024, I purchased the A6 original and the weekly supplement. (I also purchased a B6 and A6 compact common place planner from sterling ink to try out.). I love the cardstock covers of the Hobonichi planners because it allows me to make the planner special to me without feeling like I am ruining the cover. It is an empty canvas.

This was such a good explanation, especially for someone who just ordered their first hobonichi-style planner. I wish the cousin came in the horizontal layout. That’s the only thing missing imo. I’m not a fan of the vertical layout.

I leave the planner at home so I'm sqitchiing to an A5 this year. I just find there's not enough space. I use the weeks for financials stuff but for planning and journaling, I'll see how a5 works this year. If I don't like it, I can go back too the a6 next time.

I bought a dupe of weeks on Amazon to try out the weekly layout. I'd go with one of the daily planners but I need a weekly layout like in weeks
