    Hello Lovely Laura

  • @lauracolorstoo

    @lauracolorstoo

    5 жыл бұрын

    Don't worry dear Stacey, I hope you feel better soon! The paper stayed flat because I used a similar amount of water (or very little water) with each wash. So, for the first layer, I saturated the paper completely with the same amount of water on the entire painting. Buckling happens when you use uneven quantities of water on the page at the same time. The water expands the paper fibers, and so if there's not the same amount of water on different spots, then the paper expands at different rates. That's why I prefer using a really large brush for the beginning washes and just covering that page with a ton of water! If you're using white paint, please be advised that the thickness (or the body of the paint) will determine the size of the spatter. You may want to try white acrylic ink instead. The reason I prefer masking fluid is because it allows you the option to remove the big blobs before you start, whereas spattering white at the end sometimes can ruin the beautiful galaxy you've worked hard on :) I'd love to see your wok, feel free to email me anytime with your creations so I can see! lauracolorstoo at gmail dot com.

    Have you ever thought about teaching? I would have loved to have you as a teacher when I was young. My first grade teacher smacked my hands for both coloring outside the lines and making my "a"" just like it appears here (Mu Dad had taught me how to read from the newspaper so I thought they were printed correctly! As an adult I drew the most elaborate doodles, frequently when trying a case when the testimony got boring!) As a result I thought I had no ability in art matters. I loved art and took Art History as a individual class my senior year but remained convinced I had no "talent" until I tried my hand at the adult coloring books a couple years ago and feel in love. I absolutely appreciate what you say about "talent" vs. "hard work". I feel sad when I think of all the years I was "artless" other than appreciating the works of others!

    You can try it with white acrylic ink, but i prefer the masking fluid because there's usually always a big unwanted splotch with the spattering effect. You can also use anything else you like at the end to add white dots: gel pen, paint marker, white acrylic paint or white gouache. I prefer this method because it lasts over time and won't fade or look less brilliant over time, but if it's not meant for hanging on the wall, get creative! Use toothpaste! There are no rules 💖

    You can do that too.. but as I've said before, I prefer this method. You can see in my tutorial that I remove the larger dots before I start to paint, acrylic at the end offers no such control. It's a nice tutorial for drawing galaxies until you show it to your friend and they ask ''a galaxy or nebula?''

    If you'd like some extra tips or pointers, send a photo of your results to lauracolorstoo@gmail.com and I'm happy to help ❤ just know that every galaxy I create looks different than the last, and that's okay. Don't feel pressured to make exact copies, it's the techniques that are the key to getting your own unique galaxy painting 🤗

    @@lauracolorstoo sure I will send the copy... The problem is I visulize it in one way and it turns out a disaster... Maybe it's my watercolor or some technique that I am doing wrong... I have no idea 😓😓

    Thank you for emailing me!! I can see it's not you, but the paper you're using! I hope you have more success with the paper I suggested! It's common when we're learning something new in art to have a vision in your mind and not accomplish it immediately. The trick there is practice! The more you do, the better you'll get, I promise you! Don't give up ❤🤗
