I love making npc antagonists based off the party's skills. So next time I have a warlock running rampant with Disguise Self I'll repay the favor with this. Maybe give them two or three "free" faces to use with contacts in big cities. But those are other warlocks under the same patron, one of which has decided to steal their identity to take out a bunch of loans and contracts.

I joke with a dm that depending on the way my current character's arc goes they could end up a main antagonist in a future campaign as a demon who believes that challenge and struggle are the way for people to blossom and grow as individuals. Taken to its furthest while he'd treat it almost like a great game he'd set up terrible events and challenges solely because he wants to be beaten. An antagonist that wants to lose but will do anything but go down easy and honestly believes that he's doing a good thing in the end.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Story wise Doug is the equivalent of a Bowser where at least given what we know it's closer to senseless jerkassery that might just get in the way of the rest of the party in a very. You're senselessly evil actions at a very public ceremony are ruining the rest of the party's reputation because no one who isn't Warhammer Chaos tier evil wants to associate with the person who has a reputation for reckless senseless murder or anyone who associates with them by proxy.

@@drakesdrum1 if you're being smart you can still care because it's a lot easier to get things and people to help you if no one knows you're an evil bastard until it's too late and the plan you have is already coming. not to mention being a reckless loose cannon might dissaude other people who are evil from helping you because no one wants to work with a guy who might derail everything because he saw a dog park unless you're similarly deranged

@@szylaj from the villain guild, it’s the thieves guild, assassins guild, warlock union, the church of the sleeping god, the local dragon representative and the henchmen conglomerate all joined together under one umbrella regulatory committee. Think of it as various unions/groups pooling resources for mutual interest and to stay out each others way.

My favourite evil character? I was a Lawful Evil cleric who worshipped Abadar (Pathfinder's setting's Lawful Neutral god of commerce and civilisation). I charged my party 1 gold per heal per level of spell used, and made them all sign a contract when we started (I didn't force it on them, I checked with them all first! Evil character, not player). I ended up being easily the richest member of the party. I had every person who made a request of the party sign contracts, too, and the GM let me roll to sneak in exorbitant rates and just really nasty clauses. It was honestly so much fun getting to be on the winning end of capitalism for once.

That’s a really poor form of doing capitalism my guy, I started a brewers guild in a game and then created a pmc with support of the mages college and started a coup on a neighboring town that wasn’t in the guild and annexed them into my wives kingdom that also had the home base of the brewers guild in it, we started public works for everyone that also helped us grow the guilds infrastructure at the same time, people were payed above average wages, an adventures guild was founded and funded by us, one of the guild heads was a greater demon, everyone prospered, standards of living kept increasing. We had a fountain in the square of the town flowing with moonshine that glowed green and a brew that was getting close to being able to split an atom when lit on fire. THATS how you do a capitalism game, one part tropico, one part guilded era and one part goblin slayer.

as someone who's played evil characters doing that might get you killed not just because i like dogs but because A. Randomly firing into a crowd of people until you massacre all dogs is going to cause so many problems and B. Someone willing to just do that is going to derail so many of my evil plans and i can't keep someone that risky around. you might hamper relations with people i wanna work with or derail an entire plan because waterdeep has a dog park

My evil character was a plague doc. He would act normal, but would make demented deals with poor payouts. He kept a bag of holding that only could hold deceased body parts, and would use ‘Animate Dead’ on them to create one massive monstrosity to protect and kill for him.

My most evil character was a grung (basically poison dart frog person) who was (technically) lawful good, according to the laws of his *homeland* ^-^ he was a wizard. He LOVED giving hugs (cultural tradition), and when he reached level 15, we came to the conclusion that absolute power does, in fact, corrupt absolutely. Dude was fanatical in his belief of the power of friendship, and figured he'd be more powerful if he had more friends, so he decided to do whatever it took to get more people to be his friends, and have them travel with him. Was also an enchantment wizard, so when his spells wore off nobody knew they were enchanted 😌 by the end of the campaign, he had close to 400 people believing they were his friends, and owed him their lives and things like that, when in reality, he manipulated their memories, orchestrated the deaths of their loved ones to help them gain revenge on the killers so they'd travel with him, and so much worse ^-^ Definitely the most evil character I've ever played, even though he was meant to be a good guy joke character 😂

My current evil character is an Evil Dwarf Artificer. He won a player in a game of blackjack and now owns them for a year. Another player took up employment under him and didn't read the fine-print, so he's now my debt slave for 5. He also has made blackmarket connections and plans to find the lost city of La'Bel

I was working on a campaign and convinced one of the PC's to randsom the imprisoned god of magic to a devilking in exchange for 3 wishes. The devil went on to take over control of magic and ints power they introduced "Soul Coins" the premium currency that you can spend to get extra spell slots which can be earned by committing evil deeds and making sacrifices in his name (Human sacrifice qualifies you for the premium tier granting you 1 free counterspell per day to use against lower tier casters). Where as before you had to study or have an inborn gift, now magic was democratized and every sadistic bully with a chip on their shoulder was suddenly slinging spells. Essentially they turned EVERYONE into a warlock with a microtransaction model and the devil made sure the whole world knew who was responsible.

My evil character is a merfolk enchantment wizard whose entire game plan is to gasslight gatekeep and girlboss her way to great power and/or great wealth.

Man evil campaigns are either very long, or very VERY short 😂

My favourite thing I ever did as an Evil aligned character who was a healer was tell a person (who lied to us into us almost getting killed) that "my job, as a healer, is to heal someone's wounds and put their broken bones back together." *Gesture to the Fighter* "His job is to break bones of people who try to kill us. We balance each other out, so if I take in a patient that is trying to kill us, it'd be a cycle of broken and mended bones for gods know how long... I'd talk quickly." Rolled that intimidation with advantage and we got the complete truth outta them RIGHT AWAY.

I have an artificer who's a bit of a megalomaniac. Another PC stopped him from researching something he probably shouldn't so he poisoned the PC's kid with permanent lycanthropy. (Don't worry, I asked the player beforehand.)

I once played a Wizard with a commoner son of bakers background, it's deal was he created and sold "Happy face cookies" which made the eaters look happy/nice in the eye of others, but also made them depressed the next time they felt hungry. DM told me I was evil LOL

"just tell me when I got them all" I have yet to see a movie villain even coming close to this level of evil, even Hitler looks like a cool guy to be around compared to this.

Most evil character I ever played, an Orcish Blood-Shaman who turned an entire village women, children, and the elderly, into a tidal wave of gore so we could sail back home on the rowboat we were there to steal because he was too lazy to walk back home with it. Other notable events from that campaign were my GF's character who tortured a prisoner by letting rats chew off his limbs, then once he was just a head and torso, Stockholm-ing him, to use him as bait to lure people into traps. Also, breaking into a house, kidnapping a baby, shoving a grenade down it's throat, before shouting "Catch!" and throwing it at the person we were there to assassinate.

Ya know, when I play an Evil character some of the players usually mistake my character as chaotic or lawful good. I correct them and move on playing the exact same way. People doubted me up until the freshly orphaned kids we rescued from a burning building implied that they were going to narc on us for breaking and entering.

There was a dude who wanted to be an anti-paladin in a Pathfinders' society session I was in, so he kept doing evil shit instead of helping the group. One of the things he did was kick his dog down into a hole we couldn't see the bottom of, but were pretty sure would survive. It went to a flooded basement with debris floating. People were so pissed at him and I was just laughing because of how absurd it was. The gm kept telling him he couldn't be evil in Pathfinders' society due to the rules. That gm talked to the head gm about him being a problem and the head gm said to let him to whatever it was he was going to do, but set his character to a lvl 1 barbarian after it happened. 😂 I wonder what happened to that dude.

In an evil campaign our DM was the most evil person because he made a place called popcorn with corn people who said “butter me up, daddy”.

As advanced evil, I personally would glue lego pieces to the soles of people's shoes. Also, I'd pick a random person, let's say Steve. Steve will suddenly be finding a potato placed in random places all over his house, his place of employment, and other places they frequent, and have no idea who or what is doing it. I would do this to the point where they have panic attacks at the sight of potatoes.

My first evil character was a goblin that joined the adventure guild to gain access to the bounty board and exercise a license to kill with his fire and acid spells. Sure, he helped people, but that was mostly because the party pointed him in an acceptable direction to murder raiders and the like.

Nothing more evil than a hater of DOGS! totally the experienced D&D player. Leave it to the beginner to have an intricate backstory where the seasoned vet shows a simple yet effective meaning of EVIL!

This is why you need the evil druid

My deep gnome is a lawful evil capitalist merchant.

Senseless evil are the hardest to deal with.

Nah, if you wanna do it right you go 17/18 fighter and 2/3 warlock, get spell sniper and metamagic adept. Take agonizing blast and eldritch spear for invocations, quickened spell from metamagic adept. 4 bolts per attack x 3 attacks 2 action surges for 6 more attacks x 4 bolts Quickened spell to cast eldritch blast on 2 of those actions for 8 more bolts. That's 4d10x9+4d10x8 orrrr roughly 68d10 force damage I believe?

Unfortunately the RP fell off for me when Klauth didn't generate 50 mana and start vomiting cards.

All my evil characters so far have been the equivalent of low level evil npc's rather than bbeg's. Made an arrogant coward, vying for power and respect, despite not doing anything respectable. And a high society merchants wife who is definitely, definitely killing her husband to be able to remary higher up the foodchain.

You should look up the story of The Evil Disney Princess and her Delayed Blast Fireball 🙃

I love how in the modern age, video game and movie psychopathic killers can be idolized because they’re hot, sometimes being responsible for brutal murders of countless innocent (fictional) people… but the moment a villain kills an equally fictional dog, they’re suddenly beyond saving and a monstrosity that must be reviled. Get your priorities straight, people.

Hands down the best Evil character I’ve ever seen anyone play was a colonialist big game hunter ranger whose animal companion was a monkey butler.

One evil campaign, I made a Druid that hated animals. Just utterly despised them... but his entire skillset was based around them. Beast Speak, Dominate Beast, Conjure Animals, etc. Every fight was just the ASPCA's worst nightmare and made Kristi Noem look like a sane and reasonable woman.
