Same here for myself as I too, am a new beginner in quilting. Have only been at this for 1 year and 4 months. There’s so…..much to learn starting out in quilting and to learn, My husband and I have been U-tubing several videos on folks like Donna who teach and educate us on the how-to quilt. Thanks to all the videos I like to think I’m learning more then I did over 1 year ago, lol. Thanks U-tubers in quilting like Donna Jordan.

I really appreciate these more “beginner quilter” videos sprinkled in with your more advanced videos, Donna! They are so helpful to be reminded of the “whys and hows” of basic quilting. Another video I’d like to see from you (because you are such a terrific instructor in explaining the basics) is how to use some of the various rulers that are out in the market. As silly as this sounds, I look at even some of the basic rulers and wonder “well, how would that ruler be placed on the fabric to get the cut you want?” I know it probably sounds elementary to some advanced quilters, but I’ve never had that explained to me at a basic, beginner level. I look at some of the rulers, and all of the markings on them make my head swim and I wonder how one even makes sense of them all! How does one lay it on the fabric, etc.? Thank you to you and your family for providing all of this wonderful knowledge to us.

I agree! I'm an experienced quilter (30 years of quilting), yet, some of these rulers leave me mystified! Here's a thought, go to Pinterest or Utube, in the search bar type in how to use (name of ruler). Or, just type in manufacturer name (maybe it will come up that way. Or, go to, i.e. website, such as Creative Grids. They may have tutorials on their website. And you can always go to Pinterest & in search type, Creative Grids Tutorials. Good Luck!

Donna I really enjoy your videos. In this one I like the bright bold colors and dark background. But both are really lovely.

Your videos are the best, quick, informative, without excess time spent on the same skill. I really appreciate the editing and also learning how to bind my first quilt. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for showing us ways the half square triangles can be arranged in your video and in your pattern download. I really love the way the black makes the Kaffe Fassett fabrics stand out... and the design is fun. I have some charm packs that I really didn't know what I wanted to do with them. Now I have some ideas. I happen to love Laurel Burch fabrics and have many of the fabrics that are in your layer cake. I think your quilt is very pretty and cheery. Although I am not a beginning quilter, I appreciate the way you teach and break down the steps for those who are new to quilting. Thank you!

The back background is very rich looking and appears more complicated. But with you Donna teaching us...nothing is to complicated at all. Your videos are truly the best. Thank you for all,you and your team do.

Oh I just can't decide! It's a rainy day here in the UK so maybe I'm leaning toward the lighter, brighter coloured quilt. Thanks so much for your cheerful and informative videos, I love them!

New to quilting, old to sewing! I love the idea of marking the diagonals on the background fabric first.

Love love the black Donna. It just makes the colours pop! Thank you so much for the time you take to teach us. Your videos are soooo amazing. I have been a seamstress for 60 some years and started quilting about 10 years ago. Love watching pieces of fabric come together to make a beautiful quilt. Thank you again!
