Hey! If I am understanding what you’re asking, you’re wondering why you have to restart after you die? This is the main feature of the Roguelike game genre. In roguelike games, you always start a new run with basic skills and no weapons and the challenge is to try to make it through all the acts and bosses without dying. If you die, you have to restart from the beginning. The strategy as the player is to understand which combinations of weapons, classes and upgrades work best with each other and will allow you to be powerful enough to survive through the entire game. So in short, you have to start from nothing each time and hope you get lucky enough and get good equipment through chests

But you can unlock permanent upgrades from the workshop at base camp that will increase your chances of getting better items and make your overall stronger in general for every run.
