I was so freaking scared to pressure can that my new canner sat untouched for three years. I needed someone to walk my through step by step and you did that for me. You weren’t really in my kitchen but tonight you helped me pressure can my first thing ever, thank you! 💚

@tiffanie hutchins, I was just killing time at Wallyworld today, and walking down aisles, found ONE 16 qt Presto..and I scooped it up quick! The outside plastic wrap was still on. It's like they didn't even bother pulling it off knowing it wouldn't be on shelf for long lol. This is a hot commodity. I've been watching videos here on YT and how it's hard to find pressure canners, so I wasted no time. Now....I'm like, who is going to do this with me. I'm scurred LOL.

Of all those videos, this is by far the most clear and concise demonstration I’ve seen. Even the simple act of removing the knob from your stove to show the setting helped to make things more clear. Sir, I can't thank you enough for this video! Yesterday was my first experience with my new Presto 23 qt pressure canner and I really had no idea how long things actually took in real-time to get the canner up to pressure PROPERLY. I used to have a 16 qt and I always had a problem with keeping the dial where it should be for more than 1 minute. It caused me to give up canning until I decided to give it another try with a new 23 qt. While waiting for it to heat up I just happened upon your video and it helped me immensely. You walked me through the process of slowly letting the pressure climb and adjusting the heat properly. I never saw that before! By the time I was done canning my 7 quarts of Beef Stew yesterday with a minimum of fuss I was happy happy happy!!! My pressure never moved more than a 1/2 point the entire 90 minutes. And here is the best part - for the first time in my canning life - the water in my canner when I removed my jars was crystal clear. I nearly wept with joy! Thank you!!!

@@maryhollinshead9790 Hello, about 45 minutes in between. Rinse out the canner and cool it down to get a fresh start. It really is all about taking the tortious approach and bring up the pressure slowly. Letting it cool slowly is good too. At least 10 minutes once you remove the weight, crack the lid a bit, and then just lift it a little bit. That gives it another good 30 minutes. Just bring them back to the room better. Fairly successful. I think there’s only been one that didn’t seal properly and I’ve been canning a solid amount of jars since July. When you’re chasing fluctuations in pressure it is exhausting and definitely causes problems, like siphoning. Good luck! I feel like I’ve been doing this for years! I have not water bath canned yet. I’m not a big jam or fruit person I can buy that stuff easily. I’m more of a protein and meal processing person. Just did three types of soups over the weekend!

Best starter video ever! My friend loaned me her extra presto canner and NO instructions. My first run did not go well. I had to clean everything really well as the lock vent would not pop up and seal and I didn't know much about the weight. This video was just what I needed! Thank you..

That was a _fantastic_ video! I've watched a lot of how-to videos, on all sorts of topics, and that was probably the best one I've ever seen. You were detailed and precise, thorough and specific ~ you quite simply left me with no questions to ask; but you stayed on-point through the whole thing, and didn't go on with a bunch of irrelevant bullshit. Thank you. And incredibly well done! PS: G'day from Australia.

THANK YOU! You have answered so many of my questions about adjusting the dial on my stove and how the pressure will be at 11, then it goes to 13 and the reason why. It explains so much and will be very helpful to me. I appreciate this video and the way you've explained how long it can take to get where you need to be and that more jars means more time. SO HELPFUL!! Enjoy your day! Catherine

You sir, are a life saver! I am so glad I took the time to watch all of this! That advice on how to bring pressure up was golden! I have the same presto (and oddly by the way, the same exact counter tops! lol) and all I have done with it is water bath. I've been holding off pressure canning because I'm scared. I've yet to do it ever in my life. Today I was gifted a bunch of produce and now I actually have to pressure can to preserve all this. I am grateful that you took the time to explain this process. You are right the directions are silent on some of these tips. God bless you!
