    Mak Jo See, Not sure of spelling for your name but I want to give you a BIG THANKS for this video on hand pumping. I am 65 years old with chronic low back pain. Using your method of locking the elbows and bending the knees to let my body weight finish the pump stroke is a blessing for me and most folks trying to do this. I weigh 180 pounds and can go over 3000 psi no problem You saved me a lot of pain so I can shoot my airguns more.

    The air's capacity to hold water increases with temperature. That's to say that warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. This is why when you go outdoors on a cold day and breathe out, the moisture from your breath immediately condenses in front of you and drops away to the ground. Relative humidity is a measure of how much water is in the air as a percentage of what it could hold. Therefore the best environment for using your pump is the combination of cool air and low relative humidity.

    For anyone still watching this, pumping is hard work! I'm young and weigh 60kg but am very fit and fairly strong. By the time the pump is at 180 bar (my gun goes up to 232bar) I have to jump and use my body weight too to help push down the pump every time. Considering each pump if you don't stop is roughly equal to 1bar, that's 50 times I have to jump and use all my strength to get that pump down. And that's after having pumped maybe 100 times before that all of which are still fairly tough. The higher you get the harder it gets and it can be pretty damn exhausting! At 200 bar, I can sit on the handle of the pump and it will go down half way and stop there. So to push it down to the bottom another 32 times takes some serious effort. After 4 years I've gotten a lot more efficient at it and a lot stronger because of it but I'm finally giving up and buying a tank. That pump would have killed me one day. Oh and if you do need a break half way through pumping, that pressure will drop back down a little requiring even more pumps. For $300 dollars a decent tank is honestly a worth while investment for sure!

    The size of the pressure vessel is the determining factor. I get 5 shots from 230 bars down to 200 bars. After the hose is pressurized it only takes 15 stokes to fill from 200 bar to 230 bar. So for those pressures, it only takes 3 strokes per shot.

  • @willybee3056

    @willybee3056

    7 жыл бұрын

    Oops the concept is correct ,,, 11 mins ,, but you can not use the tank down to zero... You can only use the tank down to the equal pressure of the system. That means the if the tank only has 150 bar, the rifles vessel can only go to 150 bar. So that means that if you want to fill your rifle to 200 bar, you must have more than 200 bar in the tank. So if you will never go below 200 bar in the tank, unless for some reason you dump it. So that means if you fill the tank to 300 bar, you start at 200 bar ,, not zero, except for the first time..... I found a Boyles Law calculator on the web. It will show the volume of air needed to get to a certain pressure in a certain volume tank. I hope this helps....

    all you need is a handpump for one or few rifles/pistols,. compressor is a big pain in the ass when they need to be serviced or get screwed and leaks... I had one and hated that lifestyle alot. I spend time repairing that monster more than using it for my joy. No way that is a good thing to do. Hand pump is great, you can get exercises and build some muscles too.

    ironmendm9 No there is no pressure in the unit for sure, it's just that air goes in from the unit and to the pump and the "white rocks" are the desiccant beads, they are for replacement of the stuff inside the unit.

    if I use a hand pump with filter to prevent moisture? will regular cleaning and care help prevent the rust? can I get to those parts to clean?

  • @Chiinnature

    @Chiinnature

    8 жыл бұрын

    +WooglesOutdoors You can clean anything, but the thing is - do you want to open it up and clean? LOL That is another question. I have opened up tanks and stuff myself but I don't want to do it unless I need to do it. Sometimes it is all about the seals and if they are leaking or something. When shit happens, usually there are many signs before the big shit happen - such as leaks. If your tank is not giving you good performance, leaking air, or the stuff comes out of the hose is kinda wet, you know you need to start checking what's wrong. Handpump is never good enough for moisture filtering, but it helps if you put a dehumidifier around where you are pumping, it helps!

    Thanks for your comments. I will give you an update if I can find a reason why Argon tanks can or can't be used. From my thinking high pressure gas should be able to be used as a fuel regardless if it is Argon, compressed air, Helium or Nitrogen. But I'm not certain if there are any adverse effects of these gases that I'm not aware of.

    +Gerald Williams nope, you need a comparessor for HPA/PCP, which cost more than those you use in shop. The pressure goes up to 4500psi and above, unlike the shop machine that only goes to 120 psi and about. Totally not the same thing. You can also get SCBA tanks and have them filled by someone and then transfer air from the big tank to the guns/smaller tanks

    From what I know, "Argon" is heavier than air, and so the performance of your guns will decrease even at the same pressure, and also, Argon tanks might be fitted with different hoses and fittings that is not rated for the filling pressure of HPA need, or maybe you would need to for sure check and make sure to avoid any injuries. I am no professional in chemistry but for sure it is best to be safe than sorry with high pressure stuff. There are some airgun forums around that got people who knows more about the tank stuff, maybe you can take your question there for a more professional reply if you insist on using argon tanks.

    +Thesasha Friberg You don't but it is better to have if you want less moisture for your tank and guns - moisture can build up inside the tanks and guns, then they will cause rust, leaks and many problems.

    +Carlos Orozco you can use it for paintball guns and tanks too, but of course you cannot use tehe 90ci tank directly since it is outputting 2800psi .. it's for filling our smaller tanks

    I couldn't get to 200 bar, too heavy. With this system is way easier and I can keep firing all day.

    +Artur Lindner You weight less than 180lb? Maybe that's why. Maybe try to get a big SCBA tank and just transfer air from the big tank to your guns, MUCH easier and no need to pump! :)

    Chiinnature Have you ever used a FX 4 Stage Pump? I only weigh 145, but am not sure if I can even fill it to 190bar (tried a briends Benjamin pump, and i couldn't fill it- feet off the ground haha). I just bought a used AA S200FT, but have no air source. I'd really prefer a FX pump over CF tanks- I'll even wear a weight vest if that'll work.

    kenjif89 all the pumps are very similar. I have used the FX pump, very similar in terms of effort. The best thing to do is to get yourself some more muscles by doing weight lifting. Nothing beats muscles. LOL

    you should hook that pump up to a bicycle or something. You would be able to pump twice as fast and not even break a sweat, you're legs are a lot stronger and have more endurance than your arms.

    Huh? bicycle??? confused.. how?! Also, not really, using JUST the legs vs using the arms AND your body weight, which one is better? obviously eh?

    Kimbo Slice don't think it will work. water pump are no more than 100psi, but these things are going up to 3000psi man, it's hard! I have seen people using a machine to power up the pump like a robot arm theory, that will work better, but not a bicycle man, lol! If i have the space to store a bicycle here, I would buy a 1.7k compressor instead and skip pumping... lol..
