Ойын-сауық

Just wanted to put this video together, to show an example of a blown speaker and how to repair it.
I didn’t mention all the reasons speakers blow but I’d love to hear your blown speaker stories.

Hello! friend. Are you all right? Watching your video I remembered an experience that happened to me. I have bookshelf front speakers, one day the tweeter stopped working, opened it and noticed that the cable disconnected, connected and went back to working again, Grace to God 😁🙏🏻

Yeah, I’m doing good! I’ve been there! I would have preferred that they weren’t connected correctly, rather than having to go through ordering new parts and installing them, that’s for sure. I’m just happy I now have them up and running:) Cheers, my friend!

Somehow I managed to go full separates for my Klipsch reference premier 7.4.4 setup. RP280 x2 / RP450c / RP160M x4, and 4 Dayton Audio ME825W 8" for atmos. 4 Monolith 10" subs! I went from the awesome sounding Marantz sr7013 to the Marantz pre pro AV7705. For my amp I got the Outlaw Audio 7000x from their b stock. Even with my not so power hungry speakers I can hear things I certainly didn't hear before and each channel is more distinct. I love it!

It’s definitely easier to diagnose issues with speakers, running one at a time. If at least one is functioning properly, it makes it easier to diagnose what’s wrong with the blown speaker. Thanks again for the continued support, Nana!

Where did you get woofers for these speakers? I have the same speakers and my center channel woofers are dented from being poorly packaged.

Great speakers! Klipsch had some replacement woofers, when I spoke to them a month or so ago. Give them a call, they were pretty responsive when I reached out.

I have a old phaser tech 335 es the rubber outside the cone is not there and when I press down on the cone it makes a scratching sound is that normal

  • @blazermdx

Unfortunately, if you’re pressing down on the come evenly with light pressure and you feel a scratching, it probably means the motor is damaged:/ The rubber surround can easily be replaced but the motor structure is much more difficult. I would check and see if you have any local speaker/audio repair shops if you love them, to see if they are worth it to you to repair them. Good luck!

Awesome video. Have you ever tried running PA speakers in your space? I used to use some Klipsch RP-600M that sounded nice in my room, paid 500$ for them, but I recently grabbed a pair of random Bag-End PA style speakers with blown tweeters, (model TA 5000-R i believe) replaced the tweeter diaphragms, and they sound significantly better than the klipsch. Paid only 100$ for the speakers, and 200$ for the replacement part. Also have used Peavey TLS5 speakers in the same room, which also sounded much better than the Klipsch. Always loved those klipsch til I got those PA speakers. Thoughts?

I have heard PA speakers a few times but never owned any. They are designed to provide more volume than most house speakers, due to them usually being used in venue style spaces. With that said, I have read many people that just love PA speakers in their home theaters, due to the effortless impact, smaller rooms. I definitely believe PA speakers would easily outpace 600M. I would avoid PA subs for home theater though. PA subs are also designed for larger output but they generally don’t go much below 30hz, like well designed, dedicated home theater subs are designed to do. Congratulations on the new speakers!

Dustin I need your help. I bought a pair of klipsche r-51pm speakers. They’re active/powered. I’m coming from a JBL soundbar and my problem is that I’m hearing a hiss from my klipsche speakers. My JBL soundbar did not hiss nor do my Logitech 2.1 speakers for my laptop. I almost want my soundbar back because the hiss is driving me nuts. I heard passive speakers don’t have this issue when connected to an amp or AVR. I’ve read active speakers hiss due to the amp being built into them. Could you please offer a solution to a non hissing speaker system? I don’t want to go back to soundbar audio. If I need to buy an AVR and speakers I’m willing. Thank you for your time and awesome videos.

Hey man! Sorry to hear about your new Klipsch speakers hissing. It might be worth your while to move the speakers away from your other equipment and swap in some new wires to see if you can eliminate the hiss. If they are still hissing after you’ve tried that, it’s most likely an amplifier issue and the speakers will need to be returned or sent in for service. People love powered speakers but I’ve had some horror stories over the years, from powered speakers having amplifier issues. If you can return the speakers and get your money back, I would just snag a nice, used receiver and a pair of bookshelf speakers. If you are only planning on running a stereo pair of speakers or up to a 5.1. you can grab a nicer quality receiver, that’s a little older and just run an optical cable from the TV to the receiver. If you plan on needing 4K down the road, you can still find pretty inexpensive HDCP 2.2 capable receivers for cheap. I hope this info helps steer you in the right direction, my friend!

@@blazermdx Thanks for getting back so quickly. I do have a 4K Sony tv and 4K player. Just need to get the sound right. Do your speakers hiss? Be honest cause it’s a deal breaker for me. I don’t want to go down a road I shouldn’t travel.

  • @blazermdx

Hissing is a huge red flag of either a wire or amplifier issue. I would never accept any speakers that hiss. If you tried moving them away from your other equipment and you tried swapping in some new wires and they still hiss, there’s something wrong with them. Speakers should be dead silent at idle, powered or non powered. I definitely wouldn’t put up with it.

@@blazermdx I took the powered speaker and plugged it into the wall without any other wires attached. Still hissing like a snake. I’ll be returning these and going to an AVR setup. If you could recommend some speakers for an AVR I’d be grateful. Set up a Patreon brother.
