blake's an excellent teacher: he's patient, encourages a lot, corrects gently, models the skills, and breaks the skills into small chunks that Jenna's ready for. everybody needs a teacher like that. and her smile when she gets it right is fabulous!

I think what I love most about these vids is the fact he talks her through everything; he doesn’t jump on his bike and undermine her by showing her how easy it is. The only time he’s on the bike is at her request. Trying to teach your partner to ride and embrace something you’re passionate about can really challenge the relationship dynamic. Blake is so great at it, and Jen is a trooper. So awesome!

Jen’s the best. I want to see more of her learning.

I think he will be a wildcard I think, Fearless and wild on two wheels, but grounded and centered on his feet.

Boarding an airplane to find that Blake is your seat mate is the equivalent of winning the lotto. Bonus if the plane is flying to Whistler for Crankworx.

Well done Jenna. It’s not easy to learn something new. Even more difficult when you have a camera in your face. Top video Blake, as usual.

I remember my first crash. Slightly more violent but I sat on the ground laughing my head off. Nobody told me mountain biking was a full contact sport! I new right then I was hooked!

The teacher is extremely patient and supportive I wish all of us would have a teacher like that. Thumbs up for that.

Your videos with Jen are delightful. The beginner lessons are great for all new riders. Looking forward to the next video. Well done.

Yay, Go Jen! you're doing really well, keep it up! I think learning mountain biking when you're not a kid is much harder, much more aware of getting hurt 😅

Hubby sent me here to pick up tips after a fall last week on gravel, I'm so glad he did, it's so nice seeing Jen start almost from scratch feeling the same way I usually do. Learning skills along with Jenna, priceless. :)

Dear GMBN there are a lot of Jen all around. These videos are really helpful for beginners like me. Blake, hats off buddy. Wonderful job. You're a good teacher, never gets frustrated, always joyful. Jen, keep learning. Its only through you, we can learn beginer skills. Both of you, stay blessed and stay safe.

Jen’s too cute 😁 Been riding with my wife and kids this summer, if you’ve never ridden much you have to literally learn everything! Brakes, gears, peddling, standing up, the lot. Good effort all, more please 👍🏻

Love watching blake show jen how to ride. Great cause I'm teaching my wife to ride trails, so it gives great reminders of the basics to teach. Can't wait to see when blake starts teaching little man to ride!

Well done to Jen for agreeing to take part, well done to Blake for his coaching and his infectious presenting style as always, and well done to GMBN for releasing another video around pure basics 👏👏👏 I got back on the saddle a year ago after 15 years buying a mtb for a road commute because I wanted to still use the trails near me. This is the kind of stuff that inspires a lot of people!

Loved Jen’s facial expression when she ALMOST crashed (just before her 1st tumble). My first time out my buddies almost killed me so I had to stay away from them just to learn. MTBing is so different from road cycling, but both great joys. Hey, Jen’s FABULOUS!

Blake these videos with you and Jen are so much fun to watch 🙃

Blake is the kind of person to be completely over the top exited at work, and still be the quietest person ever at home.

This is great. Such a good reminder to take little victories when introducing new riders to the sport. As always Blake is entertaining and Jen is a great sport.

This is the best thing I have seen on KZread in ages. Blake I learned the deep end lesson 26 years ago with my fiancé, now wife, and she hasn’t ridden but one time since. You two are so fun to watch. Keep up the good work Jen!

In Germany rear break is also on the right side, same in Spain. So I guess it is a british thing like driving on the wrong side of the street.

Yup. AFAIK it's mostly the British that have their brakes reversed. Perhaps it's of a "Commonwealth" thing? Any Aussies here that can confirm?

Great fun to watch somebody discover their skills and ability to do things they thought they couldn't.

This is so wonderfully wholesome guys. You're beautiful people and it's the same feel-good warmth as seeing Ashton at Whistler in seeing you both in this together. I'm watching this as my partner is embarking on her very first steps on a mountain bike I've kinda followed what Blakes taught here so I'm glad about that its fun teaching others to ride its so satisfying What most beginners dont get is that a bit of speed is your best friend volition is good forward momentum is whats gonna keep you upright

Man I love these videos. You're a great rider and teacher. I love the way you break it down for her to learn the skills. I love her sweet no quit demeanor. I'm a brand new mtber too, coming from a road bike, it's a whole other level of riding that in my opinion just doesn't translate. Please keep them coming.

Blake & Jen - Tokyo Skid That step by step confidence building will help her in other situations in life as well. I'd get her on something easy but flowy to get comfy with increased speeds too, and to learn pedal and riding position in turns.

I love that this is on the IOW where I learned to mountain bike in the 90s. Take Jen on the Tennyson Trail once she is a bit more confident, and I’d love to see Blake take on the steepest parts of Chillerton Down!

Its so good and lovely to see Jen in the videos. Another great video by Blake!

you could see the confidence building through the session to point that Blake was telling Jen to slow down lol; body position is improving and you can see she is becoming more comfortable moving around on the bike. Slow and steady wins the race: definitely worth building confidence to a level where a few littles offs or challenging sections won't put her off. I'd pay for the missus to have lessons but i wouldn't put myself in the firing line by doing it myself - it wouldn't end well.
