Beginner ➡️ Intermediate ➡️ Advanced in Korean

Learning to speak a new language is a fun yet long process, and many people get stuck and can’t seem to progress beyond the “intermediate” stage. The key to overcoming this and going closer to the advanced level is a lot of conscious exposure to diverse materials. To help you achieve this, we have made a new course for you. It’s called Bibimchat! 😍🇰🇷
Check out the course here and take a listen:

I've been stuck at the low intermediate level for ages and I just started to actually improve after I joined a korean company here in Mexico. I thought my level was quite okay until I had to start writing all of my emails in korean and attend the meetings with the korean crew, and I realized that I didn't know anything about business korean or this very specific vocabulary we use at the company. My boss used to get frustrated with me like "I thought you knew korean!" and I was like of course but when in my daily basis would I talk to my friends or husband about logistic terms or who else in my close circle of friends would i talk to the same way i talk to the 법인장? 😖 fortunately after two years I feel much more confident and tho I don't consider myself on the advanced level yet, i feel much closer! (also thanks to TTMK! hehe)

This is so simple and yet so true. Hyunwoo Ssaem is right. I have acquired a high intermediate/advanced fluency level and I've never lived in Korea. I have however used TTMIK products from the beginning. It's very high quality. I've gone through all of the grammar lessons and the IYAGI podcasts and I'm excited for this next set of lessons! I hate reading (even in English), but the podcasts and videos make it so much fun to learn!! I sincerely don't think I'd be able to speak Korean this well without having used TTMIK.

As expected, my hopeful guess for the mystery new website addition, that I thought would be the best possible thing that could be added, was wrong. Instead, as always, it exceeded my expectations and is even more "exactly what I've been needing to progress" than what I was hoping for. Just like every other time you've been introducing new things. I suppose that this is what makes you good teachers. You know exactly what the students need, far better than they will know themselves (which is not to say students' self-evaluation at strengths and weaknesses is irrelevant, of course). It is very nice to know that, even when we don't yet know exactly what is coming, we can count on it being excellent as your track record shows that you are highly competent professionals who will make excellent choices. I didn't mean to over-indulge in flattery or anything, this is your business after all, so it is not as if it's unexpected that you are good at your jobs. I just think it's nice to give credit where credit is due, and to make sure you know that the resources your business provides are very well received and much appreciated :)

I'm getting some energy through the videos of the channel. The part that says about "GAPS" is a big point. Sometimes I tried to study but I got angry seeing that I had to go back see again something I should already have stuck in my head! I think this make my motivation shake sometimes too. And that is by reading Webtoon in Naver website. I do not 100% understand the dialogues but I get the gist of it by reading familiar words and phrases and by searching for the meaning of new words that I encounter.

Korean is my third language. In my second I'm just pipping over the Intermediate - advanced boundary and always finding that there's a plethora of new stuff to learn and understand. Then, the other day when I was writing a masters essay in my native language... I realised that there are words in my native language that I have no clue about. That made me realise that I'll never be an expert in my own language let alone the other two that I've added and the future ones I intend to learn. I'm happy with that, however it doesn't stop me learning daily :D

Excellent video as usual 선생님. Everything you've covered also applies to an individual's native language(s) as well. I'm constantly saving new vocabulary on my smartphone whenever I encounter a new word or phrase.

You were spot on about how what I know is sufficient enough for me to get by/understand so I don't try pass that. I've been intermediate for the longest, if anything, I feel like I'm getting worst.

Is it possible to do a video about: 는 것 (past, present, future), 기, ㅁ/음? And the difference between them and everything about those 3 grammar points? Please. I feel like I understand them but at the same time i still struggle a bit with them...

How inspiring! I have been stuck on the intermediate level for a long time now, but I still have a lot to learn to progress into the advanced level. I think I need to step out of my comfort zone and engage into a wide variety of topics now. 오늘도 수고하셨어요. 너무 감사합니다! 톡톡 화이팅!

Woow!! This video helped me so much😱 in English I’m exactly the type of person who is intermediate and stuck there cause I basically understand everything so I’m lazy to learn some more words haha but you made me realized that this is not the end, I’m going to do some progress with my English and of course with my Korean🙏🏻 Thank you for this video!! 🔥 감사합니다 ^^

I feel like this is the kind of videos that makes you understand that not only do they explain Korean in a proper English manner, but they also KNOW their teaching skills. I've seen so many videos trying to teach Korean but just because they could speak Korean, made few mistakes in explaining grammar or verb tense... Speaking and being able to teach is so different, and it's very comforting to confirm that TTMIK teachers know what they're talking about. So thank you !

I am not at the point where I am switching from intermediate to advanced yet, but this video tells so much truth. This is not the first language I learn, so I could at least compare it to my former experiences. It's true that once we get to a certain level, we don't put as much effort because we have enough to understand pretty much everything. The reality is that most of that is just intuition from the context we do understand. Thank you for these tips, the lessons, the courses on your website, and the constant motivation. 감사합니다!

Nice video! The one thing I would say differently is that listening and reading is important The Whole Time! From beginner to advanced. People think they need to wait until they know all the words before they start immersion. Do it from day one! Your future self will thank you.

And speaking! I studied for years and got no where because I didn't practice using my vocal muscles as much. Repeating everything you hear is so helpful in imprinting what you learn in your brain. I highly recommend shadowing/mimicking native speech as much as possible

현우씨, 9:12 - that's how I always feel about you listening to your English! I hope that doesn't sound rude. Your English is impeccable and you hardly have an accent at all. It inspires me! I hope some day I can speak Korean even half as well as your English!!

I'm a learner of Korean who started way too late in life and who can't seem to untangle spoken Korean in my head at all (I'm better with written), none of this is for me. I'll never get to an advanced level. However, from the perspective of a language teacher, I love gaining new perspectives into helping students overcome their plateaus.

저도 지금 그 수준인데 선생님 말씀에 동의해요! 그리고 제 경험으로는 이런 것들도 중요해요: - 말이 잘 통하는 한국인 친구를 만들어서 한국어로 얘기 많이 하기 (채팅도!) - 맞는 학습 자료를 찾기 (예를 들어서 정말 재미있게 볼 수 있는 유튜브 체널 등). 왜냐하면 콘텐츠가 재미없으면 공부 안 하게 되니까요. Thank you for your hard work! Can't wait to check out the new course on the 100% Korean channel!😊
