Another great video. I am just now at the point to get a DSLR camera to get started diving into astrophotography. You brought out some great points of what to look for and watch out for when purchasing a camera like the shutter count of which I would not have know about. Then there is the "practical" side of using equipment and to tailor it for use. Thanks again and clear skies1

Nobody else covers basic camera mechanical issues and cost considerations better than you for entry level use to avoid the rabbit hole trap. Good luck🙂

Probably shouldn't base ALL dslr usage rates on my experience. I really can't explain why my sensor has degraded so quickly, maybe I had a bad camera to begin with, who knows? But these canons are so inexpensive that they can be almost viewed as disposable in the long run. And trust me, I likely have had 1TB of data. That gives you an idea of how much I used it.

Alright, I feel a little better now. My Canon is in no way close to that usage. I do have a question on another video of yours with the AT 102mm EDL. You give it a lot of praise on how well it did. My main goal is galaxies ( distant galaxies ) and my achro's I don't think are up for the job. So I've been looking at the AT 125mm EDL. Supposedly with the equivalent 53 glass. These triplets get to be too expensive for dabbling in something new.

Late to the party. Here’s the thing imop. The software for processing Astro photos is continuously Improving to the point were it’s almost eliminating noise , gradients and all sorts of image flaws . It’s getting so good that I see no value in introducing complexity and cost into the image train via a dedicated Astro cam . I’ll stay with my Canon T5i and 80D thank you .

what camera did you upgrade to, I'm just starting out collection equipment planing a rig build, My Daughter got a brand new Canon 60D several years ago I know for a fact it has low miles on it. I may try to buy it from her. What kind of mod did you do to your D60? Nice vid you almost made me cry for giving up your 60D LOL .... thanks for a great vid...Chow.

I had to send it back to Altair Astro for the oil leak repair. And I was offered an opportunity to exchange (at cost) for the monochrome version. And I did. 😀 as for the 26C, I mentioned in an earlier video regarding the oil leak, and they have since revamped their manufacturing process to prevent leaks on all unsold units.
