Yeppers! Exist is a GREAT song (ok, that's only my opinion). I see the skull in it, but that might be because of seeing that album art just as many times as I've seen various pictures of that nebula.

Great video ! Will check these out this coming month !

just starting out so this is fantastic content for me, after finding and working out my telescope on the planets the first thing that amazed me was how fast the earth is spinning, manual tracking is taxing, keep up the great work finding it really helpful for navigating the night sky thanks

Glad I could help! Manual tracking can be a pain for astrophotography but if you just do some visual with a Dobsonian, it's not so bad!

I really enjoyed the video and was glad that you explained the focal size that would be best for each target. I hope you would consider also doing one for larger telescopes. A lot of people have the Celestron C8 or the C9.25 and it would be nice to know if we could capture any targets as well.

Oh yeah, this time is great for objects, but chilly for those of us in the northern hemisphere!

I enjoy "Beginner Deep Sky Targets" and it's something to try out and gain experience with, especially as you have used (suggested) a colour camera like the ASI294MC Pro = popular for starting OSC. Have you thought about including a table of what's included (for the next episode), what the target is, suggested FL, filters to use e.g. L-Pro or L-eNhance or UV/IR cut etc, and links to where it is e.g. @5 min 30 sec etc. Either after the Intro (good) or just below My Astro Gear (better) - to help with planning at home? Simon

Yes, I need to get timestamps added. That's something I'm going to make sure is included with every video in 2022 and going forward before I upload. For your suggestion of FL and filters, that's a good idea. Filter may be a little more based on where the person is located in relation to local light pollution, but FL can apply to pretty much everyone. Thank you for the feedback!

@@AstroEscape Good point about local light pollution. I know you have the L-eNhance... I'm Bortle 4 and ordered an L-Pro for broadband and L-eNhance for narrowband targets (one was a present and the other was a gift to myself). I opted for the L-eNhance as a safe bet e.g. less band shift worries and fewer halos. I don't have a mono camera or DSLR to mod, nor a RASA and can put 1.25" filters very close to the sensor in my ASI294MC so halos shouldn't also be an issue. Time at Xmas to wonder - too many reviews and opinions (and clouds/rain) on the web about L-eXtreme, if the L-eXtreme might have been the better choice - "to swap or not to swap" (that is the question...) if you only have one NB filter. Simon

Great video thanks. As a beginner it's sometimes difficult to get an understanding of what's around and when. Most of those targets are in the East to South region of the sky (or even E to SW). Do you have any suggestions for W to NE?

Most of the targets in this list (and the other videos I've done) are designed to be in that region at the be in the Eastern sky shortly after dark to maximize time on it. Say you have a clear night all night and can get tons of time on the Rosette, it'll be visible all night in January. For some more Western targets, check out the September to November list, all of those are around Zenith (directly overhead) but will set before Dawn: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWh6ptWBn9DOf5s.html

Just a quick question. How is it possible to obtain 2 or 3 minute subs. I am using a Canon 100mm f2.8 L series macro lens, shooting @F4, but to keep my histogram 1/4 of the way in from the left my iso needs to be reduced down to 200?

Are you using a star tracker of any kind? You'll need that to go longer for sharp stars. You can also stop down lower to go longer.

@@AstroEscape I have a star adventurer on a pier. It's an excellent set up, in that it is in position all the time so I never have to polar align as it doesn't ever get dismantled. I did think of stepping down but then that doesn't let anymore light in, although it would allow for longer subs. I think shooting with a new moon will help a lot. Where I live it is extremely windy through the winter months which is a complete PITA.

Only a couple of the pictures shown are mine. The rest are from Stellarium. Credits for those images are somewhere in the files.
