I shave in freezing cold water everyday, and I will never go back to hot shaving. My face is so much smoother and very slick feel after every cold shaves. I agree in theses facts what you read out at the start of your video.

I shave with cold water exclusively. I live in Florida and usually it’s just too damn hot to be putting hot water on your face. Oh, I forgot. You’re in Phoenix and I’m preaching to the choir. I completely agree with the premise of the article. I find it advantageous especially with straight razor. I’ve also been finishing my shave with aloe for sunburn kept in the refrigerator. Very cold and very soothing. Thanks Matt.

I turned to cold water shaving a few months ago and it's much better than hot or warm water shaving. I find that my lather is much creamier and slicker.

Just wanted to say thank you, I tried this and the shave was fantastic. I had significantly less redness and irritation than when using hot water to shave. For the record, I used the Palmolive shave stick. I live in a very hard water area but still found it easy to create a good lather (I use Palmolive because I love the smell).

Hi, I was struggling with DE shaving, had some tricky areas that I just couldn't get, even with a feather blade. The other night after a second pass I accidentally rinsed with cold water and felt the whiskers in those awkward areas stand proud, I just whipped them off with a gentle pass of the blade, it was great, no irritation at all. I'm going to try doing the whole shave cold tomorrow. Great video by the way!

If you have hard water and are having difficulty making a lather, go buy a jug of DISTILLED water. Use it to build your lather and dip your brush. Works like a charm.

I have shaved with cold water in the military 1with mixed results. One technique I have learned is to lather up with warm water as usual. What works with me is rinsing the razor with cold water after using hot to knock off the lather and soap. At the end, I liberally splash ice cold water on my face. Then apply cold witch hazel.

Cold Shaving, night shaving, growth patterning, face lathering, single pass with buffing and clean up, this video is brilliant for the new de shaver. You seem to have discontinued the shave stick. That is a shame. I would have liked to try it... at least palmolive is still available from Germany.

How do you get Cold water from tap in Arizona? I live in the same metro area as your store (Bought my Merkur 34C there), and the water here is fairly warm even on "cold". Should I use refrigerated water? Or is the water that comes out of the tap cold enough to count as cold enough?

I night shave every other day in large part due to irritation on my neck as a result of wearing collared shirts at work, as well as giving some time for any nicks or irritation to go away so I'm not heading to the office all bloodied and irritated. I'll have to try cold shaving.

Hard or soft water, hot or cold, in my experience, the soap or cream still can make all the difference. The blade also makes plenty of difference for me, but fortunately, I have found many high performance, low cost creams and soaps.

I have been DE shaving for two months now. And I have got my technique down pretty good. I shave 5 days a week for work now which wasn't something I was able to do with cart razors. But I still had some minor irritation on my neck with a DE razor. So after watching this video I gave the cold water shave a try. I must say that I am surprised at the difference. Much less irritation in my neck. I did notice that the hair was much harder as well. I am going to give it another try tomorrow but this time I am going to use a Feather blade instead on the Rapira Plat Lux blade that I used today for the second time to try. I usually go back and forth between the Feather and Shark Super Chrome that are my favs. But, I must say that cold water shaving may be my no preferred method.

I'll watch you cold water shave. But I ain't doin it no way no how. Lol I thought you meant with a straight razor not a safety. Cold shaving is a doddle with anything other than a straight razor. I did it once and it was hellish and I won't do it again that way.

Axeman That reminds me of the reason the electric shaver was invented. An American army Colonel, Jacob Shick, thought one day of the discomfort his men had to put up with by having to shave with cold water. He thought it was OK for the men to bathe or shower in cold water, (only woke 'em up) but not to have to shave in it. He wondered if it was possible to design an electric razor, and the design and patent emanated from there. I personally would not tolerate a cold water shave, it's definitely not my idea of luxury.

not a fan of cold shaving. note- have a coarse Beard and sensitive skin. the psuedo-science behind cold shaving, keeps the blade sharper, etc , would require the water to be frozen to alter the microns.

I'm glad one pass works for you, but don't presume to know what's best for anyone but yourself. It's patronizing. I've had days where I've done two passes with the grain, and someone asked me if I was growing my beard out. I normally do three or four passes because that's what it takes to get all the stubble (granted, I don't shave every day because that would be far too irritating).
