I love that people in the comments are recognizing the fact that its amazing that that they got to this point. I started the doughnut tutorial a long time ago and gave up when something wasnt doing what I wanted it to do. This time around I stuck with it, asked questions on Discord, googled.. and here we are! Thank you so much for amazing tutorials, clear and calm.

if anyone else is having the problem where when you try to insert a keyframe but it's only showing the "all channels/only selected channels/etc" options - make sure your mouse is hovering over the 3d viewer where your scene is when you press "I", that will give you all the options shown in the video. if your mouse is still over the timeline then you'll only get those first 3 options. a lot of the blender menus change depending on what area of the screen your mouse is in.

I don't know if this comment is going to be buried but I would like to see a video about zeroing your rotation back to global axes, if you have applied a new rotation or accidentally rotated a parent and deleted it. I found myself having my camera tilted just slightly after redoing the empty circle but couldn't find out how to reset the tilt because it was showing 0 tilt in the item transform section. Is there a simple way to fix this mistake in blender?

First off, thanks for this series, it's fantastic. And as I'm already a C4D user, that's saying a lot because it's not boring, which many things are once you know the basics. I like Blender a lot, but I can tell you one of the reasons I think adoption is slower than it should be is the many little differences in nomenclature that are somewhat infuriating to people used to other packages. For example "location." WHY? 😂 There's even an a common abbreviation for the transforms-PSR. Why couldn't they have gone with "position" like everything else. Or Empties for what most (though yes, not all) software calls Nulls. And don't even get me started on Z-up. 🤣I still don't know why they can't just make a pref switch to change the UI naming and shortcuts for Y-up. If that ever comes, it'll be my favorite update of all time, but I digress. There are arguments for the others, fair enough, but location really bothers me. 😂 It's these slight things that make the learning curve steeper than it needs to be in my very humble but loud opinion! Edit: Let me further add to my book and explain why, because I don't think I really did. The problem isn't so much that it's tough to learn. The problem is when I go back to something like After Effects, or even Resolve or Fusion, and I've been doing things in Blender with "location" it's hard to jump into those and get back into a workflow that doesn't use that word one bit. It's like jumping from a Windows box to a Mac and back. The shortcut keys are different, and I've built muscle memory over decades (and it's why all of my Windows boxes have modified registries). For example it's going to take me a bit to get used to snapping values to Cmd/Ctrl vs Shift since most everything uses Cmd/Ctrl to snap TO stuff, and Shift to snap to values. Little things like that cause a lot of friction. Maybe it's just me.

Geometry nodes are terrifying but my mind didn't care and I did that crap without looking at the tutorial (I remembered it somehow). I remembered the compositing thing too somehow and I managed to get the perfect glare for my donuts. I forgot about the auto saves but it was too late. I had made it to this part. Don't give up and if you forgot to save go to the top left of the files icon to recover. Then go to Auto Saves and click whichever one has your project's name. Click the one farthest up with the name of your project and ignore the other projects.

My graph was looking vastly different just because I assembled my scene rotated by 90deg, so I was dealing with an Y-axis. Had to spent some time figuring out how to achieve described in the video type of movement, but it turned out as precious experience at the end.

I'm kind of surprised that you didn't mention that often times folks who go for higher frame rates like 60 are often times doing it for the sake of video games, in which having a higher fps means that it is easier for the player to quickly react to something if new information on screen if the time between frames is lower. I think the real weirdos are the folks who put a higher fps when it's not for the sake of video games.

24 FPS is closer to how we see. It creates a more human movement that the viewer can relate to and believe.

he said to add keyframe for ROTATION on the empty, for those of you who ran into an issue with nothing happening after setting your keyframe. I kept using LOCATION and wondering why nothing was moving.

All went very well however I did notice that in my graph view when animating my curve it was the inverse of what Andy had in his video. Instead of an arc starting at -90 and curving to 0 my arc started at 90 and curved down to 0. My scene looks identical to Andy's and I have modelled everything along the correct axis. eg. when I am rotating the empty sphere object so the camera is looking down on the doughnuts Blender tells me I adjusted the camera by -90 degrees just like in the video. However, in Graph view when animating I see a different curve. Other than that this all went great.
